Chapter 637: Chapter 491: Qin Ping’an (Part 3)
"Cough, cough!"
Huang Yueyang had just finished rolling a batch of pills. Upon hearing his daughter’s words, he cleared his throat, a trace of awkwardness flashing across his face. He stepped forward and stubbornly said:
"Last time was an accident! I had just arrived here and hadn’t adapted to the mortal’s constitution, so I mishandled the medicinal dosage."
"Even a cultivator at the first level of Qi Refining wouldn’t be unable to handle slightly stronger elixir pills."
Huang Wangyou pursed her lips in response, unwilling to concede:
"You’re still shameless enough to say that! If Brother Yun hadn’t helped, those old friends of yours might hold a grudge against you for life and wouldn’t dare to ask for your pills again."
Huang Yueyang glared at his daughter, his tone filled with a mix of pride and smugness:
"Your Brother Yun was taught by me, wasn’t he? When he first started learning alchemy, it was my guidance that gave him his current skills."
"Hmph, that’s because Brother Yun is naturally talented. Even without you, he could still have learned it well."
Huang Wangyou retorted defiantly, turning her head away, unwilling to argue further.
Having gained the upper hand in words, Huang Yueyang was in high spirits. He hummed an off-key tune, packed the pills into a porcelain bottle, carefully closed the lid, and cheerfully set off to deliver the pills to his old friends.
Chen Sheng observed the father-daughter bickering, then looked at Huang Yueyang’s hastily departing figure. He gently wrapped an arm around Huang Wangyou’s shoulder, his eyes full of warmth.
Huang Wangyou leaned against his shoulder, watching the locust tree leaves fall in the courtyard, her lips curling into a soft smile.
With the hustle and bustle around and family by his side, despite not having cultivated over these transformed years, Chen Sheng’s heart grew more and more at peace.
"By the way, Chen’Er and Yuan’Er, they should be coming back soon, shouldn’t they?"
Chen Sheng nodded lightly:
"Calculating the distance, another half a month or so, they should be back."
"These two kids, they chose the perfect place to roam, seeing all the beautiful mountains and rivers."
Huang Wangyou nodded gently, then her face fell, her tone full of helplessness yet laced with subtle longing:
"They no longer cultivate, yet they love wandering the martial world, barely staying home once a year. Chen’Er is wild by nature, and Yuan’Er just goes along with her!"
Hearing this, Chen Sheng’s tone was indulgent:
"Chen’Er has always been this way since she was little, lively and active, yearning for freedom. We can’t just keep her by our side at the clinic."
He reached out to smooth his wife’s hair, adding:
"If you miss her, I’ll take you to see her; it would take no time at all."
Huang Wangyou pursed her lips, feigning a stern expression, stubbornly saying:
"Who misses her? She hardly stays at home; why would I miss her? I’m just worried she’ll cause trouble outside, and you’ll have to clean up after her mess."
Chen Sheng saw through his wife’s words, his eyes filled with amusement. Without calling her out, he simply wrapped an arm around her waist, a faint golden aura subtly enveloping them.
Not disturbing the mortal world, yet able to shrink distances in an instant.
"Let’s go, let’s see if our daughter is really causing trouble."
As soon as the words were spoken, their figures dissipated like smoke under the corridor.
The next moment, they appeared in a small courtyard among the mountains, thousands of miles away.
The courtyard was paved with blue bricks, planted with a few green bamboos, their shadows swaying as the evening breeze passed through the branches.
Rustle—
Amidst the courtyard’s open space, two figures danced with swords, weaving sword light, their movements graceful.
The woman, clad in scarlet attire with her long hair tied high, was Tang Xichen. Her sword momentum was lively and free, like a swallow in the forest.
The man, dressed in a moon-white robe, stood tall and his sword technique was steady and restrained, yet he adapted to her rhythm in every move. He was Qin Yuan.
Their sword shadows entwined, their moves in perfect harmony, every clash of swords carrying an intimacy unparalleled by others.
In every rise and fall, affection wove between them, as if they were two halves of a whole, their movements fluid and effortless.
Ting—
The swords lightly touched, making a clear sound. They simultaneously withdrew their swords, smiled at each other, their eyes full of tenderness.
Having experienced a lifetime of separation, they finally broke free of all constraints, coming together at last.
Though no longer cultivating, they could still stay together in this mortal world, side by side for a lifetime.
Upon hearing footsteps, they both turned, seeing Chen Sheng and Huang Wangyou standing at the entrance of the courtyard. Both were momentarily stunned, then their faces lit up with joy.
Qin Yuan was the first to bow respectfully, speaking with reverence: "Master, Mistress!"
Tang Xichen quickly stepped forward, her tone filled with excitement:
"Dad, Mom, why are you here?"
Huang Wangyou walked forward, deliberately giving her a playful scolding look, her tone lightly reproachful:
"Someone couldn’t bear to come home, so we had to come and see for ourselves, or else in a few days, you’d forget even your parents."
Tang Xichen heard the complaint in her mother’s voice and immediately showed a sweet smile, stepping forward to link arms with Huang Wangyou, guiding her to sit on the stone bench, diligently massaging her shoulders, her voice honeyed:
"Mom, how could I forget you! I just wanted to accompany Junior Brother for a bit longer, once we’ve seen enough, we’ll naturally return home."
"Besides, I was planning to bring back some mountain wild mushrooms for you and Dad, your favorite kind."
"You, you just know how to say nice things."
Huang Wangyou, half her anger soothed by her daughter’s coaxing, tapped her on the forehead, her eyes full of laughter:
"Don’t fool around outside. Listen to Yuan’Er in everything; no willfulness."
Qin Yuan stood aside, watching the tender moment between mother and daughter, his own smile warm.
In his previous life, he’d endured a lonely existence in the Grotto Heaven, wandering away from home...
Now, having the chance to start anew, to stay by his senior sister’s side, to see her smile every day, to be with her, every day was a profoundly happy time.
