Chapter 475: Chapter 174: Arriving at the Ore Vein, Deployment (3)

Under the sparse moonlight, Shen Bai arrived at the Observatory, just in time to meet Fang Tong, who was preparing to get off duty.

Fang Tong had been on a rather difficult mission and had only just gotten back. He hadn’t expected to run right into Shen Bai.

Fang Tong stepped forward and asked respectfully, "Lord Shen, I trust your trip to the mine went smoothly?"

He was just making small talk, but when he caught a glimpse of Shen Bai’s expression out of the corner of his eye, he sensed that something was wrong.

Shen Bai’s expression was grim.

’Did something happen?’ Fang Tong wondered.

The thought had barely crossed his mind when he heard Shen Bai’s voice.

"Go and bring the two Landlords and the heads of Divisions Jia, Yi, Bing, and Ding. There is an urgent matter to attend to. All other tasks can be temporarily set aside."

Without waiting for Fang Tong’s reply, Shen Bai turned and walked directly toward the five-story building.

Fang Tong froze for a moment. Then, without another word, he immediately left the courtyard.

Having seen Lord Shen’s expression, he knew this was no simple matter, so he carried out the order with meticulous haste.

Before long, Landlord Zheng, Landlord Wu, and the heads of Divisions Jia, Yi, Bing, and Ding had all gathered inside the five-story building.

With grim faces, they sat in Shen Bai’s room, their eyes fixed on him, waiting for him to speak.

Though they didn’t know what had happened, Shen Bai’s expression alone told them it was something of grave importance.

Shen Bai took a sip of tea, then recounted his entire conversation with Dongfang Li.

When he set his teacup down, he scanned the room, observing everyone’s reactions.

Everyone in the room fell silent.

The shock in their eyes was impossible to conceal.

The words "Hundred Truths Remains" were like a bombshell dropped on Nanxing Prefecture.

Its detonation would create catastrophic aftershocks.

Even for them, the Landlords and division heads of the Observatory, the news was profoundly shocking.

Shen Bai knew the news was a lot to take in, so he didn’t interrupt their thoughts, instead pouring himself another cup of tea.

He watched the steam rising from his cup, lost in thought.

After a moment, Zheng Xing was the first to recover. He immediately cupped his fists and said, "Lord Shen, this matter is of grave importance. We must dispatch sufficient manpower to prevent the Hundred Truths Remains from reemerging. Otherwise, Nanxing Prefecture will descend into chaos."

Wu Tian nodded beside him. "This will require the cooperation of the Registration and Resource departments, and more importantly, we’ll need to dispatch the elites from Divisions Jia, Yi, Bing, and Ding. Otherwise, it will be impossible to contain the situation."

As the two Landlords gave their opinions, the heads of the four divisions nodded in agreement with their proposals.

Shen Bai drained his cup again, then looked at Zheng Xing and began to issue his orders as Prefecture Chief.

This was the first time he had issued such a formal command since arriving in Nanxing Prefecture, and he had naturally used the past few moments to consider his plan thoroughly.

"The Resource department will temporarily provide ample resources to Observatory members on assignment. The Registration department will be responsible for rebalancing the mission load to ensure this incident with the Hundred Truths Remains doesn’t disrupt our other operations."

"Members not assigned to this task will have to pick up the slack. As for the divisions, Divisions Jia and Yi will each dispatch half their members to handle security. You are also to contact the Jianghu influences friendly with the Observatory and ask them to send members to assist."

Their job wasn’t to exterminate Demonic Forces or kill on sight, but simply to guard the mine and prevent anyone from getting near.

They needed a large number of people because, at least until this business with the Hundred Truths Remains was concluded, there could be no mistakes.

Divisions Jia and Yi alone would not be enough.

They were strong fighters, every one of them in the Void Realm, but that didn’t mean their guard was impenetrable.

The Observatory was the foremost official power in Nanxing Prefecture, so naturally, many Jianghu influences were friendly with them. This was what Shen Bai was counting on.

Only then could they guarantee enough manpower to restrict the Demonic Forces from getting their hands on the Hundred Truths Remains.

Everyone exchanged glances at Shen Bai’s decision. Having no objections, they all remained silent.

Seeing their silent agreement, Shen Bai nodded. "In that case, go quickly. Take a headcount. We leave for the mine tonight."

Time was of the essence; there was no time for detailed explanations now. They could discuss things further once they reached the mine.

The constables from the Government Office were significantly weaker than the Observatory’s members. Shen Bai wouldn’t feel secure leaving the guard duty to them alone.

At Shen Bai’s command, everyone rose and began to gather their belongings.

After they had all left, Shen Bai stared at his left hand and thought, ’The Hundred Truths Remains... they said it held a great opportunity for me, but the divination was unclear. I have no idea what this opportunity actually is.’

’Perhaps it’s Deceitful Objects and Evil Qi.’

Beyond those two possibilities, Shen Bai couldn’t think of anything else.

After all, for him, those were the only things that constituted a truly great opportunity.

Deceitful Objects could increase his Skill Level or grant him new abilities, while aberrations were an important source of his Evil Qi.

’So I should participate in this mission too. I’ll look for an opportunity to get my hands on the best stuff. Even just a few wisps of Evil Qi would be useful right now. After all, I just used up a lot appraising those fifteen Deceitful Objects, and I’m running low.’
