Chapter 466: Chapter 172: Academy, Spirit Recovery Level 6
"Lu Cheng, you’re certainly composed," Piaoxu said, covering her mouth with a light chuckle.
Lu Cheng said impassively, "The Academy’s mission for me is to obtain the Hundred Truth Body. I suggest you drop this talk of revenge, or the Academy won’t let you off."
The expression on Piaoxu’s face slowly vanished, turning as cold as ice. "What have I done?"
Lu Cheng said coolly, "Don’t think I don’t know that you want to go after Shen Bai. But I’m advising you to give up that idea for now. If I hadn’t stopped you just a moment ago, we all would have died at the hands of Dongfang Li."
Piaoxu strode over to Lu Cheng on her long legs and reached out to caress his face.
A look of disgust crossed Lu Cheng’s face, and he took a step back.
"I know. You all think I’m a whore."
Piaoxu wasn’t bothered in the slightest. "Everything I have, I’ve slept my way into. I won’t deny it. But isn’t this just survival of the fittest?"
"Lu Cheng, I’ve had a miserable life. You wouldn’t understand. But I had my hope... my younger brother."
"But my brother is dead. He died at Shen Bai’s hands."
"The world knows me as Piaoxu, but my family name is still Wang."
"I won’t delay the Academy’s mission. But when an opportunity arises, I won’t hesitate."
Lu Cheng gave a dry laugh. "As long as you don’t compromise the Academy’s mission, do whatever you please."
Piaoxu sneered, "And you’re not afraid I’ll kill you?"
Lu Cheng retorted, "Would you dare? The Wang Family’s madness was all given to Wang Tianxing. You’re far too calm compared to him."
Piaoxu suddenly shot out a hand, grabbing Lu Cheng’s throat. "You really think I don’t have the guts to kill you?"
Lu Cheng simply stared at her calmly, not saying a word.
Piaoxu’s expression returned to normal. She released her grip and strode away on her long legs toward the forest in the distance.
"Such a boring man. Still, I really am curious what Shen Bai tastes like. I wonder if he’ll enjoy my technique of Absorbing Yang and Nourishing Yin..."
After that, she didn’t say another word.
Lu Cheng watched Piaoxu walk away, a complex expression in his eyes.
Piaoxu’s standing in Xinhua Academy was unique.
Her ability was the Replenishing Technique. To put it bluntly, it was a Cultivation Technique that even the Academy found disgusting.
Yet her power was immense. She had already reached the Mid-stage Void Transformation Realm, and even ordinary experts at that same level couldn’t defeat her.
However, Piaoxu’s strength was purely in combat; her aptitude for research was mediocre at best.
Within the Academy, Piaoxu had slept her way, step by step, to her current power and status.
But Piaoxu had given all the resources she’d gained to one person—Wang Tianxing.
This, her only brother, was everything to Piaoxu. But not long ago, he was killed by Shen Bai.
That same day, Piaoxu left the Academy. The next day, dozens of people were dead.
Lu Cheng knew very well that Piaoxu was the most volatile element of this mission. And yet, upon learning of Shen Bai’s arrival, she had used the connections she’d acquired in bed to force her way onto the team.
He had no choice but to accompany her.
’I just hope nothing goes wrong,’ Lu Cheng thought.
Before long, the two had left the forest.
Only the bodies of the fat and thin men were left in the woods.
...
Time slowly passed, and in the blink of an eye, the next day arrived.
Fang Tong looked slightly exhausted, a Scroll from the prison cells in his hand.
Despite his fatigue, his eyes shone with delight.
He had finally completed the task Lord Shen had assigned him the day before.
Over the course of the entire night, Fang Tong had interrogated nearly ten high-profile criminals and had finally learned the Feige Building’s transaction location and methods.
They had tried asking before but had never gotten an answer.
Lord Shen, however, had been certain that someone knew and had given him a vial of green poison.
The poison worked. In less than an hour, he had the answer.
He was exhausted, but it had all been worth it.
Clutching the Scroll, Fang Tong made his way upstairs, finally arriving at the five-story building.
Just as before, the fifth floor was completely empty.
The door to Shen Bai’s room was shut tight, which made Fang Tong feel a wave of admiration.
Ever since his arrival at the Observatory, Lord Shen had been exceptionally diligent. It was said he practiced his techniques day and night without rest.
At their level of cultivation, the returns from grueling practice were minimal, yet Lord Shen trained with a fierce dedication all the same.
Many members of the Observatory had taken notice, and it had sparked a competitive frenzy among them.
Whenever they had a spare moment, everyone would flock to the Observatory’s Martial Arts Arena. It was as if taking even a short break meant falling behind.
In Fang Tong’s opinion, Lord Shen’s arrival had completely changed the culture of the Nanxing Prefecture Observatory.
For the better, of course.
After all, even the slightest improvement was still an improvement.
Any improvement was beneficial. They lived dangerous lives, constantly walking the line between life and death. In their line of work, strength was everything.
Lost in thought, Fang Tong arrived at Shen Bai’s door.
He straightened his clothes, not wanting to appear disheveled, and even smoothed his hair before raising a hand to knock.
But before he could even speak, a burst of loud laughter erupted from inside the room.
"Hahaha! I did it! I finally did it!"
Hearing the voice, Fang Tong was certain it was Lord Shen.
Though he didn’t know what "it" was, he was tactful enough not to say anything. He simply took a silent step back to wait for Shen Bai to open the door.
’Some things are meant to be seen, and some are not.’ Fang Tong understood this better than anyone. After all, they had all clawed their way up from the bottom.
While Fang Tong waited with his hands at his sides, Shen Bai, inside the room, stared at the smoke before him, his eyes alight with excitement.
For one night, one entire night, Shen Bai had been grinding the Skill Level of his Poison Avoidance and Spirit Recovery Skill.
After a long, sleepless night, and with the triple Skill Level bonus from Amber, Shen Bai had finally ground his Poison Avoidance and Spirit Recovery Skill to Level 6.
