Chapter 224: Chapter 168: Abstract Class: The Pendant Cat, Part 2

[Li Mengyao, Freshman, Department of Pharmacy]

Yu Fei sent a friend request. It was accepted instantly!

"Yu Fei... I’m so lonely all by myself~"

It was a voice message, too.

He felt a headache coming on. Ever since this girl left Tianning, it seemed she had completely let loose and was now openly flirting with him.

Right after, Li Mengyao sent a call invitation.

After he accepted, a light screen popped up in front of him. Li Mengyao was wearing black pajamas with a cartoon dog on them, her waterfall of long hair draped over her ample chest.

Before he could say a word, he saw Li Mengyao exclaim, "What’s that behind you? It’s so cool!"

Yu Fei turned his head and found a cat, shimmering with a dazzling seven-colored light, perched on the back of his chair. Its fur moved as if in a breeze, giving it a cold, noble air, and the small black top hat on its head was mysterious and elegant.

Seeing the sparkle in Li Mengyao’s eyes, Yu Fei spouted some nonsense, "Oh, this? It’s a personal spirit pet the school gave me. You didn’t get one?"

Li Mengyao’s eyes went wide with surprise. "They give out perks like that? You S-rank big shots get all the good stuff!"

Yu Fei laughed. "Right, want to come over and see the cats? There are a bunch more besides this one. They’re a lot of fun. Oh, and this one can talk! Come on, Xiaoke, say a few words to the nice lady!"

"Meow~"

Li Mengyao burst out laughing. "Yu Fei, you’re hilarious. How could a cat talk? You must have read too many novels!"

"No, seriously! Xiaoke, stop playing around. Say hello!"

But the intelligent butler was playing dead. The cat it was role-playing put on an impatient look, licked its fur, then jumped off the chair and ran away.

Yu Fei looked awkward. He really hadn’t expected an intelligent butler to be such a good actor.

Li Mengyao watched Xiaocai walk away, infatuated. Only after a moment did she remember to ask, "Yu Fei, what’s your dorm like? Mine is a one-bedroom apartment with a bedroom, a study, and a meditation room. What about you, our S+ rank prodigy, Yu Fei?"

Yu Fei cleared his throat. "Me? Oh... just a plain, unremarkable little villa. It’s cold and empty, not interesting at all. I’ve only got a spirit pet to keep me company."

On the other side of the screen, Li Mengyao pouted and said fiercely, "You big show-off! You just had to flex again, didn’t you? I heard from the upperclassmen that it’s really hard for normal people like us to graduate. We don’t have good talent, so we need a lot of resources for cultivation."

Li Mengyao looked very serious on the screen. "I plan on taking as many theory courses as I can to earn merit points..."

Li Mengyao went on about her plans and dreams, visibly full of motivation.

Yu Fei tapped a few things on his light screen and transferred 2,000 merit points to her.

Li Mengyao was startled by the sudden notification, and then she saw the huge sum Yu Fei had transferred.

She was stunned for a few seconds, then said seriously, "I can’t take this, Yu Fei. You already helped me so much in high school. Back then, you said you hoped I could help you in the Shenhan Support System. Even though I don’t think I can help you with much right now, I’ll keep working toward that goal.

But I really can’t accept any more of your kindness. The competition between you prodigies must be even more intense. You need the resources more."

Yu Fei just smiled and sent her the official list of S-rank resources provided by the school. Li Mengyao’s voice trailed off mid-sentence, her jaw dropping as she was stunned by the long list of extravagant benefits.

Suddenly, Li Mengyao shrieked, "AH! The school is too much! They treat you guys so well! Yu Fei, you rich bastard, I’ll just consider this robbing the rich to help the poor! Hmph!" With that, she accepted the 2,000 merit points.

"Classmate Li Mengyao, my benefits aren’t just S-rank. They’re S+. That means I get another 20% on top of all that!"

Li Mengyao looked at the smug Yu Fei, pressed her palms together, and pleaded, "Yu Tianjiao, please retract your flexing Divine Power! This humble one can’t handle such a blow!"

"Hahaha."

The two of them talked for a long time. Perhaps because they were now adults and in college, there was much less restraint between them, and their conversation was far more casual.

After hanging up, Yu Fei realized that over an hour had passed. Seeing the empty desk, he slammed his hand on the table and yelled, "Xiaoke? Why isn’t my food here yet!"

Just then, a black cat wearing an apron leaped in through the doorway.

"Coming, Great Master! This lowly one saw that you were busy with important matters, so I didn’t dare to disturb you. Dinner has long been ready. Please, Master, allow me to escort you to the dining room!"

Yu Fei eyed the sycophantic black cat up and down and snorted coldly. "Let’s go!"

Passing through a corridor flickering with arcs of light, he felt a sense of déjà vu, as if he were on a futuristic battleship. He suddenly turned to the black cat and asked:

"By the way, I told you to greet someone earlier. Why did you ignore me?" Yu Fei demanded.

A look of bewilderment appeared in Xiaohai’s eyes. "What are you talking about, Great Master? This lowly one was just in the kitchen cooking. I have no idea what you mean."

Yu Fei stopped in his tracks, his brow furrowed. "Aren’t you the intelligent butler? Just now, there was a colorful cat with a top hat sitting on my chair."

Xiaohai put on an innocent expression. "You yourself said it was a colorful cat with a top hat. I, on the other hand, am a black cat. How would I know anything about that?"

With that, it trotted a few steps forward and opened a door. "Master, we’ve arrived at the dining room!"

"Hey! You’re messing with me, aren’t you!"

Yu Fei didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. The intelligent butler was actually playing dumb with him. He was about to say something when the rich aroma of food wafted over. His appetite was instantly whetted. Forgetting about settling the score with Xiaoke, he took a few quick strides to the dining table, sat down, and cut a piece of roasted meat to put in his mouth.

He didn’t know what kind of creature the leg meat came from, but one bite released a burst of rich fragrance. More importantly, he could feel it replenishing him with a powerful wave of energy.

"Mmm... not bad!"

Half an hour later, Yu Fei rubbed his round belly, completely satisfied.

It was the first time in his life he had ever eaten something so delicious. He had accidentally overeaten.

A little later, under Xiaohai’s guidance, he washed up and went to the bedroom.

The second floor was the living area, permanently furnished with a dozen or so bedrooms in different styles. Yu Fei randomly picked a minimalist room with a king-sized bed and went to sleep.

Before going to sleep, he transferred his entire remaining balance of 576 merit points to Du Mingxuan, adding the single word, "Fighting!"

Then he fell into a deep sleep.

The next day, Yu Fei woke up at 5 AM as usual. His long-established biological clock was more accurate than any alarm.

Greeting him this morning was a fat orange cat. The tiny black top hat on its round head looked like it could fall off at any moment, constantly askew and slipping to one side. The chubby cat would occasionally use a paw to press the hat back into place.

Yu Fei had to keep reminding himself it was all fake, but his attention was constantly drawn to the crooked hat.

"Jueke, take me to the training area!"

"Of course, Master. The fifth level of the Geometric Pyramid Realm is your training grounds. Please follow me."

The moment the virtual fat cat spoke, its voice was a deep, smoky rasp. The hoarse tone, paired with its melancholic eyes, gave one the feeling that it had once been a stray.

Yu Fei ignored the strange feeling and went directly to the fifth level.

Looking around, he saw that the largest area was a martial arts arena, about 5,000 square meters. Besides that, the space was divided into a meditation room, an armory, a Physical Training Chamber, and so on.

In the armory, Yu Fei saw his broken Cyan Lotus Sword that he had brought with him, an identical-looking ironwood training sword, and the greatsword [Zhan Ming] gifted to him by Honglian, all neatly arranged.

The massive weapons rack was otherwise empty.

"Jueke, can you open the windows on the east side of the arena? I need to see the sunrise for my cultivation later."

"Yes, Master. The entire dome of the martial arts arena can be fully retracted at any time."

Jueke replied, licking its paws.

"That’s good. Please mark out a spot for me where I can have a perfect view of the moment the sun rises, and call me fifteen minutes beforehand."

"No problem, meow!"

He first took out Zhan Ming, hoisted it onto his shoulder, and walked toward the arena.

After reaching the Third Realm, Yu Fei could barely wield this greatsword, but only enough to practice his basic Swordsmanship.

He believed there had to be a deeper meaning behind the greatsword gifted to him by Honglian. Combined with their conversation on the plane that day, Yu Fei felt it was very likely this sword was better suited for the battlefield.
