Chapter 795: Chapter 752: The Hero Appears

The cameramen and reporters have already left. Although Gordon knows a safe route without landmines, he’s frustrated that he can’t notify the outside world amid the chaos in the police station, sitting dejectedly on the stairs.

Su Ming rubbed his face, which was stiff with laughter. It’s really difficult to laugh as happily as the Joker without cutting two lines at the corners of the mouth.

But he didn’t need to fool Batman. Just having a 50% resemblance was enough.

Through investigation and deduction, Su Ming continuously narrowed down the range of suspects and eventually focused on a few individuals within the Bat Clan. They all belonged to those who knew many things but were clueless about the key issues.

Moreover, they were dark enough to manipulate the world.

However, Nightwing was the first to be eliminated. In the last incident, he was shot in the head several times, and when he woke up, he had become a taxi driver—essentially crippled.

Red Hood, Two Barrels, has been drifting further from the Bat Clan. That kid strikes ruthlessly, with a fondness for firearms and explosions. He formed an anti-hero team, the ’Outlaw,’ and didn’t participate in the last few incidents with Batman.

Number three, Tim, Red Robin, has always been with Batman. However, after N52, he was captured by Oz (MR.OZ). No one knows where he’s being held now. Oz’s target is Dr. Manhattan, and his identity remains a mystery. Collecting superheroes seems like he is preparing for something.

As for Batman not rescuing Tim, did he have an agreement with Oz? Or does he have a counter-plan? Su Ming isn’t concerned about this, as long as he knows Tim didn’t cause this incident.

Next is the biological son, Damian. During the Earth Sinking period, he and the current Teen Titans were protected. Batman should have hidden him in a very safe place, and he doesn’t have the ability to participate in these affairs.

Next are a few women. One of Su Ming’s purposes for coming to the police station was to check the information and confirm their situations.

First, there’s Bat Heroine Catherine Rebecca ’Kate’ Kane and Mary Elizabeth ’Betty’ Kane, codenamed ’Hawkfire.’

They are the daughters of Bruce’s two uncles, noble girls from the Kane Clan, and Bruce’s cousins.

Unfortunately, in the covered reality, these two are indeed young ladies, staying at the Kane Clan’s manor and never going out. The suspicion is eliminated.

The next most suspicious person is Barbara. She’s a genius hacker and has had a lot of contact with the Justice League. In the last incident, she acted with Green Arrow and later participated in the restoration of the Hall of Justice, so her suspicion is the largest; it only needs experimental confirmation.

As for the other Bat, Cassandra Cain, still in Hong Kong, she should have been rescued by her mother, Lady Siva, during the last major event. Shiva knows a lot and won’t let her mess around, so she’s eliminated.

Disorderly Stephanie Brown, the daughter of a clue master, the former Batgirl. Unfortunately, she’s too weak in combat. She was utterly hidden during the last event, directly eliminated.

The last one remaining is the Female Hunter, Helena Bertinelli, who on the surface has nothing to do with Batman. The Birds of Prey mostly listen to Barbara.

In reality, Su Ming knows this Female Hunter shouldn’t have the surname Bertinelli, but rather Wayne. She comes from the parallel world of Earth 2 and is the daughter of Batman and Catwoman from that world; stranded in the Main World, she impersonated the identity of the long-deceased mafia family young lady.

The Justice League of Earth 2 all sacrificed themselves in the Apocalypse Star War. Helena and Power Girl were accidentally teleported to Earth 0 by the Omega Beam and have since lived here.

This secret, even Bruce doesn’t know. He’s always curious as to why Helena knows his identity and is particularly affectionate towards him. The first time she saw Batman, she directly called out Uncle Bruce Wayne.

Now, only Su Ming and Power Girl know this secret, and undoubtedly, neither of them will reveal it.

Clark might find it quite a headache. Does he have two almost identical cousins? Cousins? Anyway, nowadays, Earth 0 has two Kara Zor-Els.

One is the Superwoman, disguised as Kara Danvers, wearing the red-blue letter uniform popular within the Super Family, very familiar to the people of Metropolis.

The other wears what’s like a white swimsuit with an open-front uniform and is the Power Girl from Earth 2. She’s more like an anti-hero and has a good relationship with Harley.

Of course, distinguishing them by appearance is also quite straightforward, even if they swapped uniforms; they wouldn’t confuse anyone. Because the native Supergirl is flat-chested, also having a personality similar to a little girl—simple and happy most of the time, like a silly sweet girl.

While the one from Earth 2 has at least an F-cup bust, having experienced family death and Earth capture; her behavior is always impulsively aggressive.

These are the thoughts Su Ming contemplated while knocking out personnel throughout the police station. Now he’s already set the bait; he just has to wait to see which Bat flies in.

Overall, Barbara is more likely, but Helena also has some suspicion. Therefore, Su Ming took Gordon as a hostage, imitating Joker’s move, certain to attract someone from the Bat Clan.

..............

"Care for a smoke, Director Gordon?"

While speaking, Su Ming took out a cigarette box from his pocket. He had scavenged it from a police officer earlier and now placed it generously in front of Gordon.

Gordon rubbed his hair, looking extremely exhausted but still maintained a smiling expression as per Su Ming’s request.

"What do you mean? Is this the last cigarette for the death row inmate?"

"No need to laugh, it’s creepy. My play is over, the bat is probably on the way, you can relax a bit." Su Ming shoved a cigarette into Gordon’s mouth and closed it.

’Snap,’ the lighter ignited, and blue smoke slowly rose.

After the interview, Gordon also noticed the strange man’s sudden change in personality, the smile on his face completely disappeared, becoming as heavy and calm as a mountain.

He knew he had been deceived again, kept in the dark and performed a play on TV with the other person, who wasn’t crazy at all and had a very detailed plan.

The most embarrassing part was that he didn’t even know what the other person planned to do.

"What exactly are you planning to do? Bat?"

"If I said I plan to save the world, would you believe me?" Su Ming glanced at him, exhaling a long stream of smoke as he sat beside Gordon, the two staring at the empty police station lobby in a daze.

Gordon sat next to the strange man, lowered his head, and took a deep drag of the cigarette, slowly exhaling through his nostrils, the smoke swirling quickly as it hit the stairway between his legs.

"I don’t believe it."

"That’s human nature, only believing what they see, even I am not immune." Su Ming nodded expressionlessly, showing no emotion: "But that’s the fact, a person wearing a mask will appear in a while, and you’ll see then."

"What person with a mask? The only ones coming are the army, coming to arrest you!" Gordon turned his head but kept his eyes on the phone in Su Ming’s other hand.

"No worries, I’ve calculated that it will take the National Guard at least half an hour to get here from outside the city. The US Army’s mobilization speed has always been slow, not to mention there’s always a rotation system." Su Ming replied calmly, leaning back slightly, smoking leisurely: "The only ones who might arrive first are helicopters and paratroopers; I’ve set traps at the main entrance and rooftop, they came only to die."

Gordon said somewhat urgently, "Why do you want to kill innocent people? Even if they are soldiers, they have families and loved ones."

Su Ming looked into the old director’s eyes and smiled: "I won’t kill without reason, but the goals I want to achieve cannot be hindered by anyone, just consider them as sacrificing for the earth."

"You truly are a madman..." Gordon despairingly lowered his head, not knowing what to do.

Su Ming dusted off his pants and stood up, flicking the cigarette butt away, watching as blue smoke slowly rose from the files on the desk: "Gotham has never been short of madmen."

Just as Gordon was about to say something, the young man across from him suddenly squatted down. Gordon hadn’t figured out what was happening when he heard a ’thud,’ seeing a dart embedded in the suspect’s phone.

If the other person hadn’t dodged just now, they would’ve been hit in the arm for sure.

Su Ming dropped the phone, turned to glance at the strange elongated dart with a little yellow light blinking on it.

"A tear gas bat dart? Nice choice."

As his words fell, two small holes on the bat dart released a black smoke, an acrid scent immediately filling the air.

Su Ming pulled up his sleeve to cover his face and retreated repeatedly. His body couldn’t inhale tear gas right now, and as he leaped back, a black shadow swung from the roof like Tarzan, rescuing Gordon.

Su Ming stood at the stairway between the first and the second floor, gently waving his hand in front of him, waiting quietly. He declared there were hundreds of hostages, so the other side certainly wouldn’t just rescue one Gordon.

As predicted, a slender figure suddenly solidified from the smoke, silently pouncing towards him. Seeing that rounder helmet and curvaceous figure, he knew who it was.

"Bang!"

Su Ming directly blocked her kick with his arm. Although it hurt a little, Barbara’s strength was always a weak point; he could handle an ordinary girl.

In terms of martial arts alone, she wasn’t a match for Deathstroke.

But he wanted to know how she rewrote the world, so the best way was to out-talk her into submission.

"Barbara Gordon, you’ve lost." Using the momentum of her kick, Su Ming flipped over the stair railing, moving towards the flaming lobby on the first floor, although the flames discomforted him, knowing it was due to the strangulation convergence, he could suppress it with willpower.

"...."

Barbara refused to acknowledge her identity, throwing three bat darts in a triangular formation.

However, her opponent’s reaction surprised her. She could only see the grim-faced man dive and roll without hesitation at the moment she made her move.

This indeed countered her darts; the three bat darts were connected by cords and a net almost invisible to the naked eye, extremely sturdy. Anyone trying to dodge would be securely bound and then electrocuted.

But by diving... the bat darts flew over his head, capturing only air.
