Chapter 321: The Queen’s Rescue (2)

Almost as soon as the words left her mouth, deep roars echoed through the water.

ROOOAAARRR!

Roxanna quickly turned around, expecting to see a group of Devourers charging toward them. Instead, she saw Mr. Kraken swimming straight at them as fast as he could.

The Devourers were right behind him, chasing the giant kraken while hurling spears and massive rocks at his enormous body. However, the moment they glanced toward the crater, they immediately realized something far more important was happening.

"They’re kidnapping the Queen!" one of them shouted.

Roxanna frowned in disbelief. Kidnapping? How could they accuse them of that? If anything, they were rescuing the Queen from those heartless Devourers!

"Azul, it will be difficult for you to carry this cage," Maristella said worriedly. "My son... you are not meant to die here."

Azul let out a low growl. "No one here plans to die either, Mother." His voice was firm. "I won’t let my daughter lose her father so soon."

Meanwhile, Roxanna immediately called out to the system.

[Hey! Do you have anything that can help us carry this cage?]

The system answered at once. [Yes, Host!]

A moment later, a long silver chain suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

Without wasting a second, Roxanna grabbed the chain and shouted, "Azul! Hurry! We can carry your mother’s cage with this chain!"

Orion and Tian frowned again, confused by the strange item Roxanna had somehow pulled out once more. Unlike them, Azul and Zeir didn’t question it for even a second. They immediately wrapped the chain around the bubble cage.

"Shoot them!" one of the Devourers shouted.

At once, they fired arrows made of stone. Strangely, the arrows were able to travel through the water at incredible speed.

"Damn it!" Azul cursed.

He and Zeir were still securing the chain around the cage, leaving them with barely any time to escape.

Just then, Mr. Kraken swung his enormous tentacles through the water, smashing every stone arrow out of the way before they could reach them.

ROOOAAARRR!

The giant kraken let out a furious roar as he threw himself between the Devourers and Roxanna’s group, doing everything he could to stop them from getting any closer.

Roxanna couldn’t help but feel touched. "Mr. Kraken..."

"Roxanna, we have to go!" Azul shouted.

The moment Orion and Tian pulled on the chain, dragging the bubble cage behind them, Azul grabbed Roxanna’s hand and rushed away with the others.

"But Mr. Kraken is still there!" Roxanna cried, turning to Azul. Her heart ached as she looked at the countless wounds covering the giant creature’s body.

"He’ll be able to escape on his own," Azul replied quickly. "He wouldn’t be standing there and blocking their attacks if he didn’t want you to get away."

"You’re right..." Roxanna murmured.

In the end, she let Azul pull her away, though she kept looking back at Mr. Kraken until he was almost out of sight.

"They’re getting away!"

"After them!"

The Devourers became even more ruthless, surrounding Mr. Kraken and stabbing him over and over with their spears.

Roxanna clenched her teeth and forced herself to keep moving. She wanted to turn back, but she knew that would only waste the chance Mr. Kraken was risking his life to give them.

Even after they had escaped far from the battlefield, his painful roars still echoed through the water, making her heart sink with every cry.

"He’s a kraken," Azul said, his voice calm as they finally left the Devourers’ territory. "He’ll be fine."

Roxanna lowered her head slightly. She still couldn’t hide the worry on her face. "Why are you so sure?" she asked quietly.

Azul answered without hesitation. "Because he’s a kraken."

Roxanna let out a soft sigh because his answer didn’t comfort her at all.

Still, there were too many things they needed to do to make sure everyone survived, so she couldn’t dwell on it for long.

For now, all she could do was silently pray that Mr. Kraken would escape before the Devourers could bring him down.

After traveling for quite some time, they finally reached the meeting point where Helga and the others had been waiting.

"Your Majesty!" Helga was the first to rush forward. "Is it... is it really you?"

She covered her mouth with both hands, and tears quickly filled her eyes before rolling down her cheeks.

"I can’t believe this..." she whispered. "I thought... I thought I would never see you again, Your Majesty."

Not far away, Maristella looked at Helga as though she were seeing a ghost. For a brief moment, she simply stood there, unable to believe the woman before her was real.

"Helga..." she said softly. "It’s good to see you again."

Her voice was as calm as ever, but Roxanna could see the deep sadness hidden behind her gentle smile.

Maybe because Maristella had never expected anyone from Aquillian to still be alive.

To her, the kingdom had already fallen and the people she had sworn to protect had most likely died one after another while she remained trapped inside that bubble cage, unable to save a single one of them.

"I thought Azul would be the only one who survived," she murmured to herself.

At that moment, Roxanna finally realized that Maristella’s gift of seeing the future had its limits. Therefore, she couldn’t see every part of the future.

After all, if she had known what would happen to her, she probably would have chosen to die beside her husband instead of binding her soul to the land of the Aquillian Kingdom.

"Your Highness, I know this is an emotional reunion, but we can’t stay here much longer," Orion reminded Azul. "The Devourers will definitely widen their search."

Azul slowly clenched his fist. "But my mother can’t leave the land of Aquillian."
