Chapter 500: How About the Three of Us Share a Family Tree 16

"Never mind Nanyuan for a moment; I’m very interested in the idea of a seafood-themed restaurant."

Gu Shuo found it quite novel. There were plenty of restaurants throughout the four nations, but not a single one specialized in seafood.

This was one of the reasons Ye Qianning had set her sights on seafood. Run-of-the-mill restaurants had lost their appeal; novelty was also crucial.

Even if the deal with Nanyuan fell through, there were still plenty of business opportunities within the four nations.

"By the way, why did you have someone send all this money over?" Gu Shuo pushed the bundle on the table toward her, his gaze fixed on her.

Ye Qianning glanced at it and smiled. "It’s the capital for our partnership, of course."

"I don’t need your money." Gu Shuo was very unhappy that she had sent him money.

"A partnership is a two-way street. The amount of money is a gesture of sincerity." She couldn’t just talk the talk without putting up any capital, could she?

"Take it back. You don’t need to worry about the financial side." How could Gu Shuo possibly take her money?

"If we sign a contract with Nanyuan, the initial investment will be a huge sum, and it will be all outflow with no income. No matter how rich you are, how long can you last? This money I have can at least cover a few months."

Ye Qianning had converted the money she scammed from East Shu last time, the money Xiliu Yuan had given her during his visit, and the rewards from the Emperor all into silver notes.

Adding in Consort Yuan’s hidden stash of silver notes, the total came to two or three million, which she considered her investment capital.

"Besides, you have me. If my money isn’t enough, there’s still the Zhan family. We have no need for your money. Hurry up and take it back." Gu Shuo couldn’t bear to let the little girl contribute her own funds.

Ye Qianning sighed in resignation. "Even brothers keep clear accounts. This is an investment, not a handout. I’ll be expecting dividends later."

"What dividends? Everything I have is yours," Zhan Chi blurted out.

"..."

"I’m just a child; I don’t have much to spend money on. At worst, you can just pay me back after we make a profit." Seeing that Gu Shuo was about to argue, Ye Qianning quickly added, "If you don’t want to partner with me, then don’t come to the General’s Manor anymore."

’We can have a business relationship, but any other kind of relationship is off the table.’

Gu Shuo and Zhan Chi understood her meaning instantly. They exchanged a look, but neither said a word.

Business was the best way for them to get closer to the little girl. Without the partnership, they would no longer have a legitimate reason to see her.

"Alright," Gu Shuo conceded.

’In any case, all the money we earn in the future will be hers anyway.’

"Young Miss, Old Master Gu is here with a large group of people!" a servant cried, running frantically into the room.

Just as he finished speaking, a clamor of voices could be heard from behind him.

The figures of six or seven people appeared in their line of sight.

The servant glanced back, then turned with a troubled expression. "Young Miss, this servant couldn’t stop them."

"It’s fine. You may leave."

"Yes."

Ye Qianning stood up. She saw Old Master Gu leading the group, his face beaming. It seemed separating from the family had put him in a good mood. To his left were Qian Fu and Qian Fanji.

To his right were four elderly men with white hair at their temples.

Gu Shuo’s expression soured when he saw the four elders. He stood up and went to the door to greet them.

Zhan Chi also walked to the door.

"Pangtuan! It’s been so long! Great-Grandpa missed you to death!" Old Master Gu’s face lit up even more when he saw Ye Qianning at the door.

"Great-Grandpa, Grandpa Qian, Minister Qian," Ye Qianning greeted each of them.

Old Master Gu shot a dissatisfied glare at the two from the Qian family, then turned back, his eyes crinkling into a smile. "Let Great-Grandpa have a good look. Have you gotten fatter?"

"..."

Hearing the little girl’s form of address, the four elders on the right looked suspiciously toward Gu Shuo, who was standing at the door.

’The little girl from the General’s Manor is so close to the Gu family. Could it be true, just as the other branches of the Gu family said, that the old master has been bewitched by her?’
