Chapter 484: How About the 3 of Us Share a Family Tree? (Part 2)
"It’s all about the Gu family’s division of assets at the courthouse. The Emperor has ordered the two of us to go observe," said Lord Li Zhonghuai.
"The Emperor ordered the two of you to observe?" Prime Minister Gao said in surprise.
"Indeed. The Gu family has so much wealth. Now that it’s all being sorted out, who wouldn’t be curious to know the final tally?"
Prime Minister Gao nodded slightly. ’Even the Emperor is concerned. The Gu family’s wealth is likely greater than the entire national treasury. Will its division be a blessing or a curse?’
For a moment, he dared not make a judgment.
"Hey, look over there. Isn’t that the Crown Prince of Xi Yan?" Li Zhonghuai said suddenly, gesturing in one direction.
Prime Minister Gao and Lord Song Jing followed his gaze.
"It really is the Crown Prince of Xi Yan. But who is that child beside him?" Song Jing squinted, struggling to get a clear look.
"It seems to be someone from... the Third Prince Mansion."
"Nonsense," Song Jing retorted. "The Third Prince has no heirs. Where would a child have come from?"
"That’s something you wouldn’t know. The Third Princess Consort has a distant relative whose child was sent from the countryside a few years back. The Third Princess Consort is raising her now."
"I’ve heard about that, but I’ve never seen the girl in person. To think she’s already grown so much." Song Jing couldn’t see clearly, his eyes narrowed to mere slits.

"Why would the Crown Prince of Xi Yan be with the little girl from the Third Prince Mansion?" Li Zhonghuai turned his head, puzzled. When he saw Prime Minister Gao’s face flush with anger, his confusion deepened. "Prime Minister Gao?"
Prime Minister Gao’s furious gaze locked onto the chubby child being held in the distance, and he wished he could march right over and tear her to shreds.
The pain in his head was nothing compared to the agony in his heart.
His son had been sick ever since returning from that banquet and was still incredibly weak. It was all that wretched little fatty’s fault.
’Since the marriage proposal is off the table, the Prime Minister’s residence will sooner or later settle the score for the last time she caused a ruckus there!’
Ye Qianning met Prime Minister Gao’s gaze, shrugged her shoulders, and broke into a wide grin.
Prime Minister Gao felt his breath catch, and he clutched at his chest.
Song Jing and Li Zhonghuai also saw the young lady from the General’s Mansion and sighed to themselves. ’What a narrow road for enemies to cross.’
"Prime Minister Gao... as you can see, our carriage is in no condition to move. We’re stuck here for now. Why don’t we go over and pay our respects to the Crown Prince of Xi Yan while we wait for another carriage to arrive from your residence?" Song Jing said with a smile.
Prime Minister Gao let out a heavy sigh.
Song Jing shot a meaningful glance at Li Zhonghuai.
"We are all officials of the Beili court. To encounter the Crown Prince of Xi Yan during such an incident and not offer a word of consolation would make us seem terribly impolite," Li Zhonghuai quickly added.

Prime Minister Gao nodded. His carriage had just overturned, and although he wasn’t injured, he looked rather disheveled. He looked down to straighten his robes and smooth his hair before finally walking toward the Crown Prince of Xi Yan.
"Let’s go over there," Ye Qianning said, patting Luo Wen.
Carrying her, Luo Wen also headed toward the *Musha* Studio where the Crown Prince of Xi Yan stood.
After placing the girl on the ground, the Crown Prince of Xi Yan quickly retracted his slender fingers.
The girl before him, terrified one moment, raised her head the next to steal a glance at Xiliu Yuan, her cheeks flushing red.
Ye Qianning didn’t recognize the girl, but she had overheard the officials’ conversation. ’So she’s the child the Third Princess Consort is rumored to be raising.’
’She has an elegant demeanor and is quite pretty.’
In the street, servants from the various households scrambled to deal with the overturned carriages and agitated horses.
The officials, meanwhile, all started converging on the *Musha* Studio. With the Crown Prince of Xi Yan present, anyone who recognized him wouldn’t dare neglect to offer their greetings.
"What a coincidence to meet you here, Crown Prince," Prime Minister Gao said, leading the others in a bow.
"Hn," Xiliu Yuan acknowledged with an indifferent nod.
"What brings you here, Crown Prince?" Prime Minister Gao asked, his gaze shifting to the overturned carriage nearby. "One wonders whose horses caused such a chaotic scene. Thankfully, the Crown Prince was not injured."

"The General’s carriage struck mine," Xiliu Yuan said, his eyes on the person who had just walked up beside him.
Upon hearing this, Prime Minister Gao’s inner sycophant came alive. "How audacious of the General’s Mansion! To dare collide with an envoy’s carriage."
Ye Qianning didn’t know what Xiliu Yuan was planning, but she pouted and said with an aggrieved tone, "I’m a victim here, too..."
"What victim? I’d wager you were the one who caused this mischief! Why else would a horse go mad at the precise moment it was alongside the General’s carriage?" Having heard about the Immortal’s Drunkenness incident, Prime Minister Gao was certain that the Crown Prince of Xi Yan must despise Ye Qianning to his very bones.
’Time to add some fuel to the fire,’ he thought.
"If you’re blind, you should get your eyes checked," Ye Qianning retorted coolly.
"You..."
"Prime Minister Gao, calm down," Song Jing said, grabbing his arm to hold him back.
"Luo Wen, go investigate which household’s horse started this rampage. We need to find out so we can give the Crown Prince of Xi Yan an explanation," Ye Qianning ordered.
"Yes."
Luo Wen set Ye Qianning on the ground, a worried look on his face.
"Go on," Ye Qianning said with a smile. "The Crown Prince of Xi Yan and these esteemed court ministers wouldn’t bully a little child like me."
