Chapter 401: 3 Kowtows Is the Price for Insulting My Father

Xiliu Yuan lowered his gaze.

"I will certainly report this matter to His Majesty and ask for his judgment," Dean Chen said coldly.

"Let the Bei Emperor decide. That’s fine by me. I am an envoy sent to Beili... Someone from the General’s Manor has severely injured me. If this matter isn’t judged properly, it will become an issue between our two nations."

Mo Geluo wasn’t afraid in the slightest. Beili could not bear the crime of insulting the Empress of Xi Yan.

"Everyone here knows what kind of man the General of Xi Yan is. Even if this escalates into a conflict between our nations, we are not afraid."

"COUGH, COUGH, COUGH... Can you, Dean, truly represent all of Beili?" Mo Geluo gasped.

"General Mo is welcome to try me," Dean Chen replied, unperturbed, a faint smile on his face.

No emperor would tolerate someone causing trouble on their own soil, especially when it happened at the General’s Manor.

Xiang Minghou had just departed to quell a rebellion, and in his absence, someone from Xi Yan had come to his home to provoke and humiliate his family. If word of this got out, not even the common people of Beili would be able to swallow this insult.

Let alone the emperor of a nation.

Mo Geluo fell silent, seething with anger.

Prince Yu felt that Xi Yan had truly stumbled today. If the Imperial Family got involved, it would no longer be a simple matter of kowtowing.

"Dean Chen, I feel there is no need to disturb the Bei Emperor. I will give the Xiang family a satisfactory explanation for this matter."

"I can see that the General of Xi Yan is far from convinced."

Xiliu Yuan raised his hand slightly.

A man in black, his face masked, appeared from the shadows and knelt on one knee. "Your Highness."

"General Mo, will you go on your own, or shall I have the Shadow Guard escort you?" Xiliu Yuan asked coldly.

The moment Mo Geluo saw the Shadow Guard appear, his expression turned even fouler. Hearing Xiliu Yuan’s words, he pursed his lips, turned, and walked over to Ye Qianning before kneeling with a THUD. "I have come to apologize to Miss Xiang and Aunt Xiang."

With that, he placed his hands on the ground, performed a single, loud kowtow, and then made to rise.

"Did I say you could get up?" Ye Qianning lifted her small foot and placed it on Mo Geluo’s head.

Mo Geluo felt the weight on his head and tried to look up. However, the pressure was so great he couldn’t lift his head at all. It was a strength that no child should possess.

He tried to resist, but the more he struggled, the lower his head was forced, until his forehead was pressed firmly against the ground.

Xiliu Yuan saw it clearly. A force that even Mo Geluo couldn’t resist... even he himself might not be capable of such a feat. And the child of the Xiang family was only six.

Prince Yu also noticed something was amiss, but he simply assumed someone nearby had secretly intervened.

Ever since Ye Qianning had asked, "Can Xi Yan afford to joke around?", Helian Chen had begun to see her in a new light.

Now, seeing her with her foot on the big bear’s head, his eyes lit up with a certain brightness.

"An apology requires a proper attitude. You can’t just kowtow once and think it’s all over. Three loud kowtows is the price for insulting my father. Do it," Ye Qianning said coldly, removing her foot.

Mo Geluo gritted his teeth, his fingers curling into fists. ’This child is terrifyingly skilled,’ he thought. ’To have achieved this level at only six... what will she be like when she grows up?’

After a few moments of silence, his head struck the ground with a loud THUD, followed by a second, and a third.

"Miss Xiang, is this sufficient?"

"The debt for my father is settled. But we haven’t yet dealt with you harassing my Fourth Aunt." Ye Qianning’s voice was soft, but to Mo Geluo’s ears, it sounded like a demonic curse.

Mo Geluo took a breath, stood up, walked over to Peony, and knelt with another THUD. "I apologize to Aunt Xiang."

Although Peony was usually feisty, she was a bit flustered by the situation and glanced at Ye Qianning for help.

Ye Qianning nodded slightly, signaling that Peony could do as she pleased. She shouldn’t let herself be bullied for nothing.

Peony thought for a moment, then took a brush from Dean Chen and gave Luo Wen a meaningful look.
