Chapter 1090: Chapter 1089: The People We Met
The three of them, Beisitian and her companions, arrived at the castle’s main gate. Someone came forward to help park their car, while another person led the three of them into the castle.
"May I trouble you to show your invitation letter."
"What’s this? We’re not allowed in without showing the invitation letter?"
In front of the castle there was a courtyard about half the size of a football field. As Beisitian and the other two followed the waiter in a black vest and white shirt inside, they heard a rough voice booming away somewhere ahead.
Faced with this man’s questioning and imposing manner, the waiter showed not the slightest nervousness or displeasure. With an official smile on his face, he said, "Without an invitation letter you naturally cannot enter. Asking you to show it now is merely to facilitate the arrangement of your lodging."
"So what you’re saying is, there’s even my door number written on that invitation letter?" the rough voice snorted coldly.
"Yes, it contains your lodging information. If it’s inconvenient for you to show it, you may also proceed there on your own," the waiter replied politely.
Beisitian rounded the central statue and flowerbed and finally saw what the speaker looked like.
The man was as brawny as his voice sounded. Even though the weather in October had already turned cool, he was still wearing a camouflage tank top, with army-green shorts on his lower half and a pair of boots on his feet.
His arms were thick and round, the muscles looking a bit ferocious, and they were inked with tattoos of some strange design that made it hard to tell what they were supposed to be.
Beisitian exchanged a glance with Wei Zhongxun. A Mystic Doctor like this going out to see patients would probably scare the patients half to death, right?
Beside him stood a refined-looking man. At least compared with this burly fellow, this man really gave off a frail and delicate air. Paired with his trench coat, his glasses, and his handsome features, he formed a vivid contrast with the rugged man at his side.
Standing with the two of them was a 少年 of about ten years old. The 少年’s face was expressionless and indifferent; he stood a short distance away, head slightly turned, staring at the castle in a daze.
There really were other families or sects who had brought children along. What surprised Beisitian was that this 少年’s spirit was so abundant that he was actually not far from that final step.
Once he reached that final step, he would be able to attempt a Spiritual Talisman!
This probably wasn’t a family or sect from the mundane world; she had never heard of anyone whose child was such a heaven-defying prodigy.
Even in her previous life, this 少年 would have been considered extremely rare, and that was during an era when Mystic Doctors were everywhere.
The refined man lightly pushed up the glasses on his nose and said indifferently, "Give it to him."
The rough man immediately lowered his flag and stilled his drums, scratched his head, and handed over the invitation letter, muttering, "I’m telling you, it’s only ’cause I’ve got a good temper that I don’t stoop to your level. There isn’t a single decent person in the Nie Family— even the waiters here are all bastards."
Even after being called a bastard, the waiter’s expression didn’t change as he took the invitation letter. He glanced at the contents, gestured with a "please," and acted as though he hadn’t heard a word of what was just said.
Watching them walk inside, Wei Zhongxun also handed their invitation letter to the waiter leading their group. The waiter accepted it with both hands, took one look, and then led them toward the castle.
The castle’s courtyard had no vehicle access; instead, two straight gravel paths led all the way to the main entrance. On both sides were flowerbeds and statues. As for what style they were, Wei Zhongxun couldn’t tell— they looked a bit like Italy style but not quite, maybe England style? That didn’t seem right either.
"Be careful."
Beisitian reminded them softly.
