Cultivation System on Earth
As documented by the World Government’s Bureau of Cultivation Research, the Hunter Guild’s Central Archives, and fragments recovered from pre-Cataclysm ruins. Information on realms beyond the Astral Realm is classified as THEORETICAL on Earth.
THE REALMS OF CULTIVATION
Every cultivator’s journey begins in the same place — with a body full of raw, unshaped mana and a dream of power. Where they end depends on talent, resources, willpower, and in many cases, sheer luck.
Each realm is divided into four tiers: Early, Mid, Late, and Peak. The difference between each tier is significant — a Peak Neophyte could defeat three Early Neophytes without breaking a sweat. The difference between realms is existential.
═══════════════════════════════════════
REALM 1: NEOPHYTE REALM
═════════════════════════════════════
Corresponding Beast Rank: F-Rank
Corresponding Hunter Rank: Unranked / F-Rank
Lifespan: Normal human (70-90 years, unchanged)
Description: The starting point. Raw mana gathers in the lower dantian but remains formless — a pool, not yet a core. Most newly awakened individuals who bother to cultivate sit here. The vast majority never leave.
What changes:
-Slightly enhanced physical fitness beyond normal human limits
-Ability to sense ambient mana (faintly)
-Can circulate mana through the body’s meridians for minor enhancement
-Spell casting relies entirely on the innate ability’s base power
Combat capability: Can fight F-rank beasts — mutated rats, oversized insects, feral dogs with minor mutations. Anything beyond that is a death sentence without a team or equipment.
Population on Earth: Estimated 800 million+ humans who have undergone any form of cultivation. This includes every non-combat awakened who took a basic meditation class and everyone who awakened but never bothered to train.
Time to advance: 1 month to 1 year (with dedicated practice)
Notable individuals: Virtually none of significance. This is the realm of civilians and failed dreamers.
═════════════════════════════════════
REALM 2: CORE REALM
═════════════════════════════════════
Corresponding Beast Rank: E-Rank (Early-Mid) to D-Rank (Late-Peak)
Corresponding Hunter Rank: E-Rank to D-Rank
Lifespan: ~150 years
Description: The mana pool compresses from a formless gas into a liquid state, forming a rudimentary core in the lower dantian. This is the first true milestone of cultivation and the point where a cultivator ceases to be merely "someone with an ability" and becomes something more.
Sub-stages:
Early Core: Liquid mana coalesces. Physical enhancement becomes noticeable — roughly 2x human peak. Can cast low-rank spells without exhausting mana instantly.
Mid Core: The liquid core stabilizes. Mana capacity doubles. Spell casting becomes fluid rather than stuttering. Can maintain abilities for extended periods.
Late Core: The liquid core begins to thicken. Physical enhancement reaches 3-4x peak human. Most D-rank hunters sit here.
Peak Core: The liquid core is dense enough that crystallization is imminent. The cultivator can feel the threshold of the next realm. Many get stuck here permanently.
What changes:
Mana capacity increases 5-10x from Neophyte
Physical body is enhanced even without active mana circulation
Minor wounds heal faster due to passive mana nourishment
Can begin to infuse physical skills with mana (e.g., a dagger strike that carries burning or freezing properties)
Meridians are permanently widened, increasing future cultivation speed
Combat capability: Can solo E-rank beasts without difficulty. D-rank beasts require caution, preparation, or teamwork. C-rank beasts will kill a Core Realm cultivator nine times out of ten without extreme luck or abilities that counter the beast specifically.
Population on Earth: Estimated 150-200 million. This is the backbone of humanity’s fighting force — the rank-and-file hunters who clear low-level dungeons, patrol settlement walls, and do the unglamorous work of keeping humanity alive.
Time to advance: 2-8 years (depending on talent, resources, and cultivation technique quality)
Notable individuals: Most Hunter Guild members. The average city guard awakened. The typical "veteran hunter" that common people respect.
═════════════════════════════════════
REALM 3: GRAND CORE REALM
═════════════════════════════════════
Corresponding Beast Rank: C-Rank (Early-Mid) to B-Rank (Late-Peak)
Corresponding Hunter Rank: C-Rank to B-Rank
Lifespan: ~200 years
Description: The liquid mana core crystallizes into a solid gem-like sphere. This is considered the first "major" breakthrough and the ceiling for 99% of human hunters. Those who reach Grand Core are respected professionals. Those who surpass it are something else entirely.
Sub-stages:
Early Grand Core: The newly formed crystal is fragile and small. Mana capacity surges. Physical enhancement reaches 5-8x peak human. The cultivator can now cast spells for hours without meaningful exhaustion.
Mid Grand Core: The crystal grows and hardens. The cultivator’s ability begins to evolve — spells become stronger, more refined, more efficient. This is where most "elite" hunters plateau.
Late Grand Core: The crystal is dense and lustrous. Physical enhancement reaches 10-15x peak human. Can begin to sense the faintest threads of "star mana" — the ambient energy that flows from space through the atmosphere — though they cannot absorb it yet.
Peak Grand Core: The crystal vibrates with contained power, straining against its own limits. The cultivator can feel the Astral Realm waiting above them like a ceiling made of glass. Breaking through requires either extreme talent, a powerful cultivation technique, a rare resource, or all three.
What changes:
Mana capacity increases 20-50x from Core RealmThe crystallized core generates mana passively, reducing (but not eliminating) the need for active meditationWounds that would be fatal to a normal human close within minutesCan infuse mana into weapons and armor permanently (enchanting)Spell power reaches a level where "short incantation" becomes the default rather than full incantationThe body begins to slowly purge impurities, extending lifespan
Combat capability: Can solo C-rank beasts. B-rank beasts are challenging but manageable for Late-Peak cultivators with good abilities. A-rank beasts require a team of Grand Core cultivators or a single cultivator with an S-rank ability.
Population on Earth: Estimated 8-12 million. These are the elite hunters — squad leaders, dungeon captains, guild officers, military specialists. In any given city of a million people, there might be a few hundred Grand Core cultivators.
Time to advance: 10-30 years (most never advance beyond this point)
Notable individuals: Senior Hunter Guild officers. Elite military commanders. The strongest hunters in medium-sized cities. Wealthy mercenary captains.

REALM 4: ASTRAL REALM
═════════════════════════════════════
Corresponding Beast Rank: A-Rank (Early-Mid) to S-Rank (Late-Peak)
Corresponding Hunter Rank: A-Rank to S-Rank
Lifespan: ~300 years
Description: The crystallized core cracks open — blooming, like a seed splitting its shell to reach for the sun. A connection forms between the cultivator’s core and the cosmos itself. For the first time, the cultivator can draw not just ambient mana from the atmosphere, but star mana — the primordial energy that flows through space from distant stars and celestial bodies.
Star mana is denser, purer, and infinitely more potent than atmospheric mana. A single breath of star mana contains more energy than an hour of normal meditation.
This is the realm where legends begin.
Sub-stages:
Early Astral: The core cracks and the first thread of star mana is absorbed. The physical transformation is immediate and dramatic — the cultivator’s body is fundamentally enhanced at the cellular level. 20-30x peak human physical stats. Most A-rank hunters with combat records sit here.
Mid Astral: The connection to the stars stabilizes. Can passively absorb star mana at all times, even while sleeping or fighting. Spell power increases exponentially. This is where most S-rank hunters sit.
Late Astral: Star mana has replaced atmospheric mana as the primary energy source. The cultivator’s spells take on elemental qualities beyond their innate ability — a fire user’s flames burn hot enough to melt steel without incantation; a shadow user’s darkness becomes material, capable of physical interaction.
Peak Astral: The core has fully transformed into what cultivators call a "Star Seed" — a small, luminous sphere that pulses with captured stellar energy. The cultivator can feel the laws of reality — not understand them, not wield them, just feel them — brushing against their consciousness like the edge of a vast ocean.
Combat capability: Can solo A-rank beasts with minimal effort. S-rank beasts are dangerous but defeatable. SS-rank beasts require preparation and strategy. SSS-rank beasts will almost certainly kill a solo Astral Realm cultivator unless they possess an SSS-rank ability or bloodline.
Population on Earth: Estimated 8,000 to 12,000 worldwide. This is the apex of human power on Earth — or rather, it should be. The handful of individuals who have surpassed the Astral Realm are so rare that most people don’t know they exist.
Time to advance: 50-100+ years (without extraordinary resources or bloodline advantages)
