Chapter 94: Chapter 94: Where Are Those Hands Going?! (3)
The elderly lady glanced at him unhappily, "Nonsense, our Vera has never been in a car accident, our Vera is doing just fine! ... I’m telling you, our Vera has been pretty since she was little... When she was born, she was already seven pounds, her little arms and legs were as plump as little white lotus roots... The doctors and nurses all said she was as pretty as a little doll... Our Vera is also a poor child, lost her mother at three..."
The elderly lady opened up, talking about distant events, and as she spoke, tears began to flow.
Originally, he thought that once she regained her consciousness, he could figure out the truth about her memory loss. Now it seemed he was too optimistic. Seeing the elderly lady cry, he quickly comforted her.
"Grandma, don’t cry... How about I tell you a joke?"
"What joke!"
"A long time ago, there was an Arab."
"What kind of person is an Arab?"
"Arab is a country, Arabs are people from that country..."
Vera returned from the doctor’s office, her steps slightly heavy. As she reached the door of the ward, before she entered, she heard her grandma’s laughter.
She looked in surprise at Auntie Li, the caregiver, who had just returned from washing fruit, and then walked into the ward, only to see Kris Cooper sitting by the elderly lady’s bedside, chatting with her while using a tissue to wipe the saliva from the corner of her mouth.
Seeing this, she couldn’t help but be stunned.
Auntie Li, who was beside her, sighed, "Miss Vera, your boyfriend is really quite good."
Vera snapped back to reality and hurried over to grab the tissue from Kris Cooper’s hand.
"Let me do it, this... how can I trouble you!"
"Vera." Grandma Wave smiled and reached out to hold her wrist, "Who is he?"
"Grandma Wave." Auntie Li came over and put the fruit on the table, "This is your granddaughter’s boyfriend."
"Nonsense, how come I didn’t know!"
"It’s true."
"Really?" Grandma Wave turned her face toward Vera, full of anticipation.
"Grandma, he..."
"It’s true." Kris Cooper said with a smile, standing up, "Grandma, I’ll see you again in a couple of days."
"Ah, good... good!"
The elderly lady nodded with a smile.
Vera gestured to Auntie Li, then hurriedly escorted Kris Cooper out, "CEO, please wait a moment, I’ll finish up here and be right with you."
"No need, just stay in the afternoon to take care of the elderly."
"Huh?!"
Vera raised her face in surprise.
"I’m not that unfeeling!" Kris Cooper gave her a sidelong glance, and seeing the gratitude on the little girl’s face, he added, "I’ll come to pick you up tonight."
"No, no, I can just take the subway myself."
"I’m picking you up to have dinner with clients with me."
"Oh, but..." Vera quickly raised her face, "I can’t drink."
"Are you saying you don’t want to go?"
"No, no." She waved her hands quickly, "I’m your soldier, where you point is where I shoot?"
That’s more like it!
Kris Cooper nodded towards the ward.
"Go on."
"I’ll walk you out."
"It’s not like I don’t know the way!"
Good intentions mistaken as donkey liver and lungs, Vera secretly pouted.
"Then I’m going back." She turned and headed back into the ward.
Brat, not even a goodbye?
Kris Cooper stood in place, frowning, when Vera poked her head out from inside the ward door.
