Chapter 186: Can’t Wait Any Longer

Kai blinked his eyes and held his breath when he realized Bree’s face was so close.

She was also standing barely a step away, cornering him against the tree.

"You’re fifteen seconds late," Bree whispered—as her hand slowly made its way to the side of Kai’s face, pressing hard against the tree and cutting one of his paths to escape. "I told you to instantly come to the backyard."

"It’s not even a minute," Kai smiled sheepishly.

But he shivered when Bree’s other hand pressed on the side, fully trapping Kai in the middle.

"I-Is this still about the bet I made with Barbara?"

"Yes, it is..."

"I already apologized, and you’re still mad? What can I do?"

"You misunderstood me." Bree leaned close to his neck, forcing him to look away as his body shivered—from her warm breath brushing against his skin. "Who said that I’m mad? I’m not mad at you at all."

"Y-You’re not?"

"No."

"T-Then what is this about? I don’t understand."

Bree roughly took off his mask and then her mask before gripping his jaw, fingers pressing into his cheeks—as she wrenched his face toward hers. Giving him no choice but to stare directly into her roseate eyes. She had to look up due to her shorter height, and her frame was far slimmer than Kai’s.

And yet it felt like she was the one dominating him in the moment.

"You used me in your bet against Barbara, so that means you’re ready to claim me."

Before Kai could process the words that came out of her mouth, her hands already wrenched open his uniform. He didn’t even realize that she had already unbuttoned him. And without even giving him time to react, she leaned in and sealed her lips against his.

Kai’s eyes widened.

He wanted to resist, but her supple lips tasted really sweet, and it overwhelmed him.

And her kiss wasn’t gentle; it was ravenous.

Bree ravaged his lips, while her hands expertly opened his blazer—leaving him with only his black shirt that pressed tightly against his figure. She was passionate. Eager. Almost like she had been holding it all in for a while, and tonight, the dam broke.

It was the bet he made with Barbara that cracked the dam’s surface.

She secretly liked it when I used her in the bet?!

Earlier, Kai was worried that he might anger Bree by treating her as if she were his possession.

He apologized as it was never his intention, and even explained clearly that it was Barbara who brought it up first. Of course—he was still wrong for being swept away, and he owned it. But in reality, Bree was never angry.

Never disappointed him for treating her as if she were his possession.

In fact, she wanted him to treat her like that.

And she even took what he did as a cue that he was ready to fully claim her.

Bree’s hand pulled his black shirt up and slipped inside—feeling his toned abs underneath as her kiss became even more demanding. She kept teasing and pulling on his lower lip with her own lips, giving Kai no choice but to kiss her back.

Only when her hand traced his skin lower and slipped into his pants did he snap out of it.

He held the curve of her waist and pushed her back gently, untangling their lips.

"Calm down, Bree. Let’s talk about this."

"I can’t wait any longer. Let’s talk with our bodies, instead."

Kai held her shoulders when she was inching closer again, stopping her from advancing.

"Aren’t we skipping a few bases here? We’re not even in a relationship!"

"After... After this, I’ll be yours completely."

"Even so, w-we can’t do it here. What if we get caught?"

Instead of answering, Bree unbuttoned her blazer. Her fingers moved swiftly, undoing all the buttons from the top to the bottom before she tossed her blazer away. Kai swallowed harshly as his throat suddenly felt like a desert.

His eyes were glued to her flawless hourglass figure, with curves in the perfect places that were barely hidden behind her black tank-top. Even with her uniform on, every single student, male or female, couldn’t keep their eyes off of her.

In class. In the corridors. In the street. It doesn’t matter.

Kai noticed the gazes but never said a word since Bree didn’t seem to be bothered by it.

Completely indifferent.

She was the perfect woman who could seduce anyone.

If Aphrodite knew Bree, the High Priestess position of her cult would likely be given to her.

And then, without ever releasing him—from that burning gaze, she smiled. A slow, knowing curve of her lips. She was pleased to see that Kai’s eyes were fixed on her. He couldn’t look away. And she wanted him to see more.

Meaningfully, with her right hand, Bree gathered the hem of her tank top and drew it upward.

She bared the full, firm weight of her breasts trapped underneath a striking dark red bra.

Blessed mounds that rose and fell with her with her deepening breath.

Her other hand found the button of her pants. She slipped it free, then eased the fabric lower along with her panty, inch by agonizing inch—until the shadowed entrance of her life-giving chamber lay nearly bare before Kai.

"Does it look like I care...?" Bree asked with a raised brow. Seeing Kai swallowing again, her smile only stretched wider and naughtier. "Are you sure you don’t want to? Every guy in the whole academy wanted this, and it can only be yours. All you need to do is take it. Claim me for yourself."

Kai could feel his entire body growing hotter with each breath.

He stared at the sensual line between her thighs, illuminated by the silver caress of moonlight.

Others in the Blood Rite skipped bases without a problem, so it should be okay, right?

He drooled at the round bulges behind the dark red bra.

Others do it without being in a relationship, too.

He licked his dry lips as he met with Bree’s inviting and daring, smouldering gaze.

Why should I worry about being caught? As long as she doesn’t conceive, the academy won’t care.

Noticing that Kai was slowly accepting the moment—and surrendering to the primal instinct of a man after seeing a fertile woman to reproduce and keep his bloodline going—Bree came closer with gentle steps.

She slowly reached for Kai’s hand and then pressed it against her left breast.

Pressed it hard so that he could feel the softness even through the bra.

"You can do... anything you want."

...

It was the second month after the accident that took Bella’s legs.

Most things that she could do without thinking were now impossible for her to do alone.

Bathing, changing clothes, going out, or even going to bed. She needed Kai to help her as the trauma was still fresh, and every strenuous movement caused extreme pain in her lower body. And it was hurting her psyche.

But slowly, she started to accept the reality.

Accepted that her legs no longer worked and that she needed to rely on Kai for most things.

Not only from her daily activities, but also to survive.

Kai never once complained. Never once showed that he was burdened by the situation. He always had an assuring smile on his face, and always joked like he was the incarnation of the God of Laughter, Gelos, all so that he could make her cheerful again.

She gets better.

Despair only came in passing.

One night, she woke up from her sleep and looked up, only to see Kai looking at the night sky.

For the first time in two months, she could see the exhaustion behind his eyes.

Like he was ready to throw this all behind and move on with his life.

And then the emotions crashed over Bella like a tidal wave. Just earlier today, she had watched him return from school with another student not too far behind him. A girl. The sight rooted itself in her chest, and now she could not stop wondering whether Kai had gotten closer—to that girl.

She thought nothing about it earlier, but now, her mind spiraled out of control.

Is he realizing that there’s more to life than taking care of his sister?

Does he want to spend his time with that girl more than with her?

Is that girl poisoning his mind against me?

Bella’s hand clenched the edge of Kai’s shirt tightly, which drew his attention toward her.

Instinctively, Kai rubbed her back to make her feel safe.

"Is it another nightmare?"

"..."

"What’s wrong?"

"You’re coming of age, so I’m sure you can understand what I’m about to say," Bella said, but her head remained lowered. As if she were hiding her face. "The strength of a girl or a woman lies in their beauty, and one of the biggest weaknesses of a man is their lust. Always be careful when dealing with a girl."

She looked up and stared into Kai’s eyes. "Never trust a girl who offers herself easily."

Once she said that, she turned and faced away.

Kai looked at her back in confusion, not knowing what made her say that out of nowhere.

...

For some odd reason, that memory flooded back to Kai.

As if his sister were warning him about this situation.

He stared at Bree with burning lust, and his hand moved on its own, squeezing her breast like it was the most natural thing to do. Even as his fingers sank into her softness—the words that Bella uttered that night kept echoing in his mind.

And Kai knew, with the part of his mind still clinging to reason, that he shouldn’t trust Bree.

Though he knew that Bree approached him because she wanted to survive, it was still vague.

Not to mention, she was hiding secrets.

Kai might be oblivious to the meaning behind most of her actions, but he knew this.

Knew that there were secrets between them.

But even so, Bree had been the first person to reach out a helping hand when he was drowning. She was also the one who comforted him when the crushing weight of this new, horrendous life as an Angel pressed against him from every side.

It was her voice and her presence that comforted him.

Just last night, she even put herself in harm’s way to stop Kai from doing anything rash.

She was understanding, helpful, and always had his back.

To distrust her without a clear reason—when she had never once given him cause to doubt—would be profoundly unfair. Matilda had handed him every reason to turn away, and yet he had forgiven her.

If he could extend that grace to Matilda, then surely Bree deserved far more.

Especially when she was the one reaching for him like this.

Going as far as showing what nobody has ever seen.

Bree leaned forward again, slowly, connecting their lips for the second time.

But this time, Kai responded in full.
