Chapter 356: Chapter 281: Admit Defeat (Part 2)

The man with the dreadlocks was a ruthless one, keeping so many parasites on his own head without any fear of them eating his brain.

For this competition, the officials had taken into account that raising "Gu" was a centuries-old tradition for the people of the Flame Emperor Continent. It was inextricably linked to their entire evolutionary system, so they were granted special permission to use the parasitic Gu within their bodies.

However, to keep things fair, contestants who used parasitic Gu were forbidden from using any other artifacts during the match.

The battle began. It was a clash of ice and fire.

The parasites covering the dreadlocked man’s head continuously spat out terrifying torrents of flame, which he could control with his thoughts.

Reya, on the other hand, was all ice-based abilities. With a wave of her hand, she transformed the arid desert into a frozen plain, and even the nearby spectators could feel a sudden chill.

This match lasted a long time. It was clear the dreadlocked man was very strong—definitely stronger than Huang Peng from the previous match.

But unfortunately for him, he was up against Reya. As the youngest contestant besides Su Ze, her power was formidable, and her ice abilities perfectly countered the dreadlocked man.

Reya pressed her advantage, slowly wearing him down. Bit by bit, she seized control of the match’s tempo, gradually turning her slight edge into a decisive lead...

The match was a true clash of titans. Both contestants were incredibly powerful, leaving the viewers at home shouting about how thrilling it was.

Su Ze’s evaluation, however, remained just two words—’Utter trash!’

’These two are definitely stronger than Huang Peng, but they’re still weak.’

"I feel like I could take on both of them at once," Su Ze said, shaking his head.

In the end, the second match concluded with a narrow victory for Reya of the Snowfield Continent.

Reya was ruthless in her victory. She brutally severed all the parasites from the dreadlocked man’s head with ice blades, splattering yellowish-green insect fluids everywhere.

The dreadlocked man rolled on the ground in pain. Once injured, the parasites turned on their host and began to gnaw at his brain.

Immediately, healers rushed in and carried the dreadlocked man away for treatment.

Next up was the third match, and it was Su Ze’s turn.

Su Ze’s opponent, the short-haired Nige Bibo, wore a grim expression. Not that Su Ze could tell—the man’s face was too dark.

The reason for Bibo’s grim expression was, of course, what had happened to his teammate. The dreadlocked man hadn’t just lost the match; he’d also lost his parasitic Gu and suffered a severe brain injury.

The competition actually had a repechage round. Losing one match only meant forfeiting the chance to fight for first or second place; there was still hope to compete for third.

But the dreadlocked man was so severely injured that he almost certainly wouldn’t be able to participate in the upcoming repechage.

Suddenly, the pressure on Bibo was immense. He was now the last hope for the Flame Emperor Continent. If he couldn’t make it into the top three, it would be a devastating loss for his continent.

Bibo looked at his absurdly young opponent and felt a little more at ease. ’How strong can an eighteen-year-old evolver be?’

’Looks like my luck isn’t so bad...’ Bibo thought, inwardly delighted. The moment the referee announced the start of the match, he struck first to gain the upper hand.

Bibo opened his mouth, revealing no tongue inside. Where his tongue should have been, there was a parasite of a similar shape.

A sharp shriek emanated from the parasite, a sound that could pierce eardrums and strike the very soul!

It was a Sound Wave Attack, but one that primarily targeted the spiritual level.

But Su Ze’s Spiritual Power was immense, not much weaker than that of a master of the spiritual arts. Amplified by his "Unyielding Will," he felt nothing at all from the Sound Wave Attack.

’That’s it?’

’It wasn’t even enough to be a tickle.’

Su Ze stood his ground, neither attacking nor defending. To Bibo, this was a clear sign of inexperience.

"A young rookie, just as I thought," Bibo sneered, his body launching forward like a coiled spring.

A long worm shot out from his navel. Its body resembled an earthworm, but its skin was a glossy black, as if forged from metal, and looked incredibly hard. The worm’s head consisted of a single, ferocious maw. This maw was retractable; though originally the size of a broad bean, it could expand wide enough to swallow an adult’s head.

The open maw resembled a blooming morning glory, and inside, rows and rings of densely packed, sharp teeth were visible.

The maw shot straight for Su Ze’s head, clearly intending to swallow it in a single gulp.

Just as the gruesome maw was about to reach Su Ze’s face, he remained perfectly still. Bibo assumed his Sound Wave Attack had taken effect, leaving Su Ze unable to react.

But in the next instant, two bolts of electricity shot from Su Ze’s eyes and flew straight into the worm’s open maw.

The worm was attached to Bibo’s navel, so the electricity traveled through it and into Bibo’s body. Instantly, Bibo’s body began to CRACKLE as wisps of smoke rose from it.

As for the worm with the gruesome maw, the electricity had shocked it completely rigid.

’Such a powerful current...’ Bibo was horrified. The defense of his parasitic Gu was extremely high; it could ignore most conventional energy attacks. Yet Su Ze’s electricity had paralyzed him, bringing him to the verge of unconsciousness.

The current now coursing through his body was brutally ravaging him from the inside.

Just then, countless tiny worms swimming in his blood vessels began to secrete life energy. This energy rapidly began to repair the damage the electricity was inflicting on Bibo’s body.

As Bibo struggled against the electric current, Su Ze extended a single finger and pointed it at the rigid, maw-mouthed worm.

With a single, needle-like jab, he sent a surge of Qi Force deep into the worm’s body.
