Chapter 64: Chapter 64: Bring Qiao Meixia To School
Neither of them, including their doting mother, even bothered to remember that Qiao Meixia was also supposed to register at the same school today.
A few minutes after the sedan rolled out of the driveway, Qiao Meixia walked downstairs from her isolated room, dressed in simple clothes, and headed toward the dining room for breakfast. Just as she reached the wide arched entrance, Jiang Lukang happened to look up from his financial newspaper and noticed her presence.
"Eh? Meixia, why are you still here?" Jiang Lukang asked, his brows furrowing in genuine surprise. "Shouldn’t you already be in the car to school with Yanna and Chinan?"
Qiao Meixia looked back at him, her dark eyes completely expressionless.
"I did not know anything about it." Qiao Meixia replied flatly. "No one told me."
"Humph!" Feng Lan snorted coldly from across the table, setting her teacup down with a sharp clink. "You are a grown girl now. You should pay more attention to these kinds of important schedules yourself instead of expecting everyone to cater to you."
Qiao Meixia merely turned her head and glanced at Feng Lan once.
It was a cold, piercing look that seemed to see right through the older woman’s petty malice. For some inexplicable reason, when their eyes met, a shiver ran down Feng Lan’s spine. Her throat tightened, and she immediately fell dead silent, utterly unable to continue her lecture.
Just then, another commanding voice resonated from the grand hallway behind them.
"I will take Qiaoqiao to school myself today and personally help her complete all the necessary registration procedures." Jiang Suhan appeared.
Everyone turned around in unison to see Jiang Suhan walking into the room, looking impeccably sharp and already dressed neatly in a tailored three-piece suit.
"Suhan, why do you have to continuously trouble yourself with this girl’s trivial matters?" Feng Lan frowned, her voice laced with deep dissatisfaction. "You have an entire corporation to run."
"Because her own parents clearly could not even be bothered to look after her basic needs." Jiang Suhan answered calmly, his tone completely even, but every single word struck Feng Lan and Jiang Lukang like a brutal, public slap across the face.
The dining room fell into a suffocating silence. Neither of the parents could find a single word to say in response to their eldest son’s scathing indictment.
"I happen to have cleared my morning schedule today. So I will take her there myself." Jiang Suhan continued naturally, breaking the heavy silence.
"Fine... Fine..." Jiang Lukang nodded after a brief, deeply embarrassed silence. "Do whatever you think is appropriate."
"Qiaoqiao, if you’ve already finished your breakfast, shall we head out?" Jiang Suhan turned toward Qiao Meixia, his cold demeanour instantly melting into a gentle look.
"Hmm..." Qiao Meixia nodded.
She had already finished her simple meal, so she stood up from the table immediately without lingering.
"Wait for me at the front entrance." Jiang Suhan said with a warm smile. "I will bring the car around from the garage myself."
A few minutes later, a sleek, high-end luxury sedan slowly pulled up in front of the mansion’s marble stairs. Jiang Suhan reached over and lowered the passenger-side window.
"Get in, Qiaoqiao." Jiang Suhan said.
Qiao Meixia opened the heavy passenger door, slid in, and quietly took her seat. Jiang Suhan started the powerful engine before smoothly driving out of the massive iron gates of the Jiang estate.
About fifteen minutes of smooth driving later, they finally arrived at the sprawling, elite campus of First Hannan School. After briefly speaking with the security guards stationed at the heavily fortified front gate, Jiang Suhan was immediately granted VIP permission to drive directly inside the restricted campus grounds. As one of the academy’s most legendary and distinguished alumni, having broken several academic and business records, his name and face were already incredibly well known throughout the faculty.
After parking the car in a reserved spot, Jiang Suhan led Qiao Meixia toward the grand administrative building. Coincidentally, just as they entered the polished marble corridor of the top floor, they happened to run directly into Vice Principal Zhang Yong, who was clutching a stack of academic folders.
"Oh..." Zhang Yong blinked, his face lighting up with a pleasant surprise. "You are Student Jiang Suhan, aren’t you? The pride of our economics department!"
"Yes, Teacher Zhang." Jiang Suhan smiled politely, bowing his head slightly in a respectful nod. "Long time no see."
"It certainly has been a few years!" Zhang Yong chuckled warmly. "So, what exactly brings a busy person like you back to the academy today?"
"I am here today to officially register my younger sister." Jiang Suhan stated.
"Your sister?" Zhang Yong repeated in surprise, his sharp, academic gaze naturally shifting toward the quiet, detached young woman standing like a shadow beside Jiang Suhan.
"Yes." Jiang Suhan nodded, his arm subtly moving to shield her from the scrutiny. "Her name is Qiao Meixia."
Zhang Yong looked Qiao Meixia up and down with intense curiosity, noting her plain clothes but highly unusual, piercingly calm aura, before smiling politely.
"Why don’t we continue this important conversation in the comfort of my office?" Zhang Yong said.
"Of course." Jiang Suhan nodded.
The three of them soon entered the spacious, wood-panelled vice principal’s office and took their respective seats on the leather chairs. Once everyone had settled down and a secretary had served tea, Zhang Yong finally voiced the burning question that had been weighing on his mind.
"Suhan, you explicitly mentioned that she is your sister?" Zhang Yong asked.
"Yes." Jiang Suhan nodded firmly, his voice laced with pride. "She only recently returned to our family household."
He was no different from a father that like to brag her daughter.
