Chapter 60: Chapter 60: Felt Angry When Saw Her Room
Unfortunately for them, Jiang Suhan completely missed their subtle, guilty reactions. He simply followed Qiao Meixia up the grand staircase. The farther they walked down the upper hallway, deep past the grand master bedrooms and toward the older, neglected wing of the house, the deeper Jiang Suhan’s frown became.
The rooms in this isolated, forgotten section of the residence were noticeably smaller, darker, and significantly less luxurious than the lavish bedrooms occupied by the other pampered members of the family. Eventually, they stopped in front of a plain, unassuming wooden door. Qiao Meixia pulled out her key and unlocked it. The door swung open to reveal the sparse interior.
"Have you seen enough?" Qiao Meixia asked, glancing back over her shoulder at Jiang Suhan. "I want to take a shower now."
However, Jiang Suhan did not answer her immediately. His sharp, discerning gaze swept slowly across the interior of the cramped room. The moment he laid eyes on the cheap, simple furnishings and the obvious lack of proper accommodations befitting a young lady of the Jiang family, his eyes narrowed sharply. A dangerous, freezing chill instantly appeared in them.
"Who exactly arranged for you to stay in this room?" Jiang Suhan asked through gritted teeth, his voice trembling slightly with a deep, suppressed anger.
Qiao Meixia silently watched Jiang Suhan’s furious reaction, remaining completely unbothered herself.
Not long after, the heavy footsteps of Feng Lan, Jiang Yanna, and Jiang Chinan echoed down the hall as they also arrived at the doorway. Since he had not received an immediate answer from the stoic Qiao Meixia, Jiang Suhan turned his cold gaze toward the three of them.
"Mom, who arranged for Qiaoqiao to stay in this room?" Jiang Suhan demanded.
Feng Lan did not know how to answer the direct question. Guilt and irritation warring within her, she quickly avoided Jiang Suhan’s piercing eyes and remained stubbornly silent.
Jiang Chinan, who did not think much about the gravity of the situation, immediately chimed in with a scoff.
"Eldest Brother, it is perfectly suitable for someone like her to stay in this kind of room. Why do you even need to bother yourself about it?" Jiang Chinan said dismissively.
The moment Jiang Suhan heard those incredibly arrogant words, a massive surge of protective anger rose within his chest. He looked at his family, appalled by their coldness.
"Yanna, do you think the exact same way?" Jiang Suhan suddenly turned his gaze toward Jiang Yanna, his voice dripping with ice.
Jiang Yanna was completely unprepared for the sudden target on her back. She hesitated for several agonising seconds, her eyes wide as she found herself utterly unable to answer immediately.
That telling hesitation alone gave Jiang Suhan all the confirmation he needed. He let out a short, cold chuckle before pulling his phone out of his pocket and dialling a number.
"Butler Jun, come up to the Second Young Miss’s room immediately." Jiang Suhan gave the order.
Without waiting for a response, he hung up the phone.
Feng Lan suddenly felt a cold sweat break out, realising that this matter was about to escalate far beyond her control. As a result, unable to vent her frustration at her eldest son, she instinctively turned around to glare viciously at Qiao Meixia. In her twisted mind, it must have been Qiao Meixia who had secretly complained to Jiang Suhan the moment he came home.
"Qiao Meixia, are you happy now?" Feng Lan demanded angrily, her voice shaking. "Ever since you came back, this family has not had a single peaceful day! Do you still want to continue causing endless trouble for this household?"
"Mom, what on earth are you talking about?" Jiang Suhan immediately frowned, stepping forward to shield Qiao Meixia. "Qiaoqiao did not say a single word to me. I saw this disaster of a room with my own two eyes."
He pointed a harsh finger inside the room. "Just look at it! She is my biological sister, yet the room she is living in is worse than some of the servants’ quarters downstairs!"
Qiao Meixia casually looked inside her own room, a bit amused by the drama.
’Is it really that bad?’ she thought to herself.
Personally, she thought it was perfectly fine. It had everything she realistically needed to function. A bed to sleep on, a desk to work at, and a chair. As long as she had a place to rest, she was content. She had never cared about luxurious, over-decorated bedrooms in the first place.
Meanwhile, Jiang Yanna’s heart tightened painfully when she heard Jiang Suhan repeatedly emphasise the heavy words "biological sister." It felt as though he was indirectly blaming her, piercing her chest with the reminder that she was just an adopted daughter occupying Qiao Meixia’s rightful place.
A few minutes later, Butler Jun arrived at the wing in a hurried, breathless pace.
"Eldest Young Master," Butler Jun bowed respectfully, sensing the heavy atmosphere. "What do you need?"
"Starting tomorrow morning, clear out and completely renovate the large room beside mine on the second floor." Jiang Suhan ordered, his commanding voice leaving absolutely no room for discussion. "That room will become my sister Qiaoqiao’s new bedroom."
"Suhan, wait! That room is Yanna’s private painting studio!" Feng Lan immediately interrupted, her face turning pale.
Jiang Yanna’s eyes widened in sheer shock. She had truly not expected Jiang Suhan to make such a drastic, public decision against her interests.
"Yanna rarely ever uses that room anyway." Jiang Suhan stated calmly, dismissing his mother’s protest without a second thought. "It would be much better put to proper use."
And that was the undeniable truth. Although the luxury room had been built specifically as Jiang Yanna’s personal art studio years ago, she rarely ever set foot inside it.
