Chapter 57: Chapter 57: Picking Up Her Parcel

However, in the very next second, she gently reached out, held Feng Lan’s arm, and softly tried to calm her down with an angelic expression on her face.

"Mom, please don’t be angry. Maybe Sister Meixia really has something incredibly urgent and important to do today." Jiang Yanna said gently, playing the role of the sweet, understanding peacekeeper to absolute perfection.

Feng Lan’s rapid breathing calmed down slightly after hearing Jiang Yanna’s soothing and compliant voice. She looked at her adoptive daughter and let out a long, weary sigh.

"Why does she always have to be so incredibly difficult and uncooperative?" Feng Lan muttered, her resentment toward Qiao Meixia growing by the minute.

Jiang Yanna lowered her eyes to hide the triumphant gleam that flashed through them.

Inwardly, she was absolutely thrilled. The farther Qiao Meixia distanced herself from the core of the family, and the more she rubbed Feng Lan the wrong way, the better it would be for her own security. A biological daughter who constantly refused to cooperate and openly slighted the mistress of the house would never, ever be able to win her parents’ favour or displace her from her pampered throne.

Meanwhile, completely detached from the high-society drama brewing at the mansion, Qiao Meixia asked her driver to pull over and stop at a nearby convenience store. She wanted to quickly grab something simple for breakfast. After purchasing a few basic items, she ate casually while walking toward her private apartment complex, enjoying the rare peace. Not long afterwards, she finally arrived at her destination.

As expected, several large, heavy packages had already been successfully delivered to the property. The security guard who had spoken to her previously immediately stood up from his desk the moment he saw her walk through the glass doors.

"Miss Qiao." The security guard greeted her respectfully, bowing his head slightly.

Qiao Meixia nodded in acknowledgement. She glanced over at the reception desk and easily spotted her name printed clearly on the prominent delivery labels.

"My parcels." Qiao Meixia said simply, pointing a finger at the stacked packages.

"Yes. We have already moved some of the earlier ones into the secure storage room. There are quite a few of them, Miss Qiao." The security guard replied, wiping a bead of sweat from his forehead.

In fact, the parcels had already begun arriving one by one since yesterday afternoon. The security guards on duty had no choice but to move them into the holding room as they continuously accumulated. The massive parcels currently sitting out here in the lobby were the ones that had only just arrived this morning.

The security guard secretly glanced at the delivery labels once more, his mind filled with curiosity. Most of the heavy boxes came from high-end electronics corporations. Some were from premium furniture suppliers, while several others came from highly specialised technology development stores. There were even a few standard packages from clothing retailers.

The security guards could not help but wonder what was going on. Exactly what was this mysterious young woman planning to set up in her penthouse? They also wondered what the identity of this mysterious young woman was.

Qiao Meixia knew there was absolutely no way she could carry all these bulky parcels upstairs by herself. Therefore, she immediately used her phone to call several professional moving workers to help transport the packages up to her floor.

It took an entire, exhausting hour just to safely move all of the parcels into the penthouse.

At the same time, she also hired several professional technicians to assemble and install the new furniture in the workspace. While the remaining packages were still being carried upstairs, the assembly workers busied themselves with the rapid furniture installation, filling the empty room with the sound of drilling and hammers.

After three hours of continuous, efficient work, the workspace furniture was finally fully installed exactly to her specifications. Qiao Meixia paid the workers their fees, added a generous tip, and promptly sent them away.

Finally, Qiao Meixia was completely alone in the quiet house. She looked around the spacious room. A veritable mountain of unopened cardboard boxes was still piled up high in one corner, waiting for her.

Qiao Meixia grabbed a sharp utility knife from her pocket and smoothly began opening the packages.

One box.

Two boxes.

Three boxes.

Inside were various top-tier computer components, high-end processors, advanced liquid cooling systems, custom-built solid-state storage drives, commercial-grade networking equipment, and highly specialised, encrypted hardware that ordinary computer users would never recognise.

Qiao Meixia worked quietly and methodically, assembling the intricate rig piece by piece with practised ease. Hours passed by in complete silence without her even noticing the time. Gradually, under her skilled hands, the empty room transformed into something resembling a high-tech, professional workstation.

Once every single component was securely assembled and the wiring was flawlessly sorted, she reached out and firmly pressed the main power button. The powerful CPU immediately hummed to life, its custom cooling lights glowing. The massive monitor screen lit up shortly afterwards, casting a bright reflection across her calm eyes.

Qiao Meixia quickly typed on the keyboard, running a series of diagnostics to check the core system. After confirming that everything was functioning smoothly, completely untraceable, and exactly as she had intended, she nodded her head in deep satisfaction.

Her new digital fortress was officially complete. Looking at the rows of high-end equipment arranged perfectly in front of her, she nodded expressionless.

Just as she was about to continue working on clearing the remaining empty boxes in the living room, a sharp notification popped up on her main screen. She glanced over and saw that the encrypted alert was coming directly from MadDog.
