Chapter 56: Failed Aphrodisiac

Maltie strut inside, paused midway, surveying the house, then advanced closer.

My mind surged with possibilities — how she could have found us, what trail had led to me, except... the market.

When I had demonstrated my power on the bandits, not all present came from the village. Word had already raced that far?

I had no answer for now, watching Maltie with vigilant eyes.

"You know her?" May asked, still holding the door, as she looked at Maltie, then flicked her gaze to me.

"Yes I do. May, give us the room."

She raised an eyebrow yet withdrew anyway.

The instant the door clicked shut, I fired the question at her. "How did you find me?"

Maltie strode past the chair, tracing her finger on the fabric, as she slid into a seat beside me.

She settled, legs crossed, hands folded.

"Words race faster than you think, Walter. I have people planted all over who feed me information."

"Information? You have spies?"

The soft, calming look she held shifted. In a flash she masked it again.

"I’m genuinely relieved to see you’re okay."

I noted the way she deflected my question. That gave me the answer I needed.

Maltie continued, "I thought the assassin had finally claimed you. That would have been tragic." She murmured it with an apologetic tone, placing her hand over mine in comfort.

I pulled away. "You should stop pretending, or you’ll keep making it harder for me to believe you."

"With all honesty, I was deeply anxious for you. Remember your promise — to come over for tea. You haven’t fulfilled it, but I’ll be patient till you return to the kingdom."

"Maltie. Why are you here? You didn’t come here to talk about tea time, I suppose."

"You’re right. There’s urgent business I wanted to discuss."

Her eyes smoldered, and she reached for my leg, tracing her hand deliberately up my thigh.

She leaned her body closer in calculated allure, revealing her cleavage, the milky smooth skin that gleamed under the sunlight spilling into the room.

"Amor~ just a night, and I’ll be yours. Anything you want that is mine shall be yours." Her breath brushed my neck.

As I expected, this proved her reason for coming. Her hand reached my inner thigh, closing in on my manhood — then I caught her hand.

A single touch from her and I would be bricked.

All of this proved hollow. She burned with urgency, to pull such a move, yet I couldn’t trust a single word.

"Tell me, Maltie — what drives your sudden craving for my seed? You weren’t in a hurry despite the queen’s ultimatum. Why now?"

Frustration clawed at her as her innocent demeanor cracked. She scowled, recoiled, sitting rigid.

"Well, isn’t it obvious? From the bold moves those cunts made, if word reaches the queen she would return sooner than expected. And I know when she arrives she won’t hand out any mercy for those who failed..."

She drew a deep breath.

"At that time, we all believed we had time. No one wanted to lose their dignity running to you. Now there’s no choice."

"If you truly crave my seed, then you have to prove you’re worth it. How well can you obey me? You said once I’ve given you my seed, all that’s yours would be mine — that would be irresistible. But..."

I let the words hang, not stating my condition immediately.

Maltie perched on the edge of her seat. "Wait. But what?"

"I want that upfront. You give me control of everything you own — your private properties, businesses, your wealth — will be mine first. Then I’ll breed you as many times as you want."

"...Everything?"

"You heard me right. What, did you have a change of mind?"

"No! I’m just... I’m willing." She shifted uneasily, inching nearer.

Even if she claimed willingness, I could tell from her reaction that she wasn’t at all. Her early proposal was pure bait and a lie.

Well, I intended to use it against her.

"Maltie, I don’t need anything from you. Just access to your spy network."

Offering a better deal would compel her toward granting me access to her spy network rather than surrendering all her properties — and also force her to admit it.

"I don’t have spies. I only buy information from people."

"And who do those people work for?"

"They’re independent."

"Lie. Maltie, I hate lies." I glared at her. "Tell me the truth."

She crumpled on the spot. "I swear, I don’t tell lies. They’re independent, but... I do sponsor them a bit, not for malicious reasons though."

"I need them, and you’ll give me access."

"How am I sure you’ll fulfill your promise afterwards—"

I didn’t reply.

"Amor?"

Maltie tilted her head, watching the look on my face.

I felt lost. Feverish heat surged, swelling in me — a lustful urge intensified. I felt overpowered. A sudden throb pulsed through my length, hardening.

My eyes locked on Maltie beside me. The sight of her deep cleavage, the closeness, let her perfume flood my lungs, intoxicating like a drug. I drew a deep breath, surrendering to it.

’What’s happening to me? Why do I feel like this.’

"Are you okay?" Maltie touched my thigh deliberately, and the warm press of her palm through my clothes ignited pleasure, awakening sensitivity in my lower body.

I tried to hold the urges in. ’This has to be her plan.’cI couldn’t let myself surrender.

’An aphrodisiac — but when did she infect me? Is it her perfume?’

Maltie touched the base of my neck. "Do you have a fever?"

The scent thickened, the heat escalated. I pulled her hand away, shifting from her.

"Let me get you water." Maltie stood up and headed for the kitchen.

She returned with a cup of water and offered it to me. I took it, because my throat burned. I pressed my lips against the rim.

From the corner of my vision I noticed Maltie’s measured breathing. Calm. Avoiding deep inhales.

It made my suspicion clear.

Then — the water. I set it down on the table.

"You didn’t take a drink. It will help calm your temperature, just a sip would do."

I pulled her to the chair, pinning her down as I climbed over her body. I held my breath doing so.

"Amor~"

She didn’t resist. Instead, she pounced, moving her hand to my pants to loosen the rope.

I smoothed my hand from her thigh upward, until I reached her skirt — not undressing, but slipped my hand into her pocket.

I felt a small bottle and pulled it out.

"You’re such a bad girl, Maltie." I held the bottle up to her. She froze, her hand already loosening the rope of my pants, pulling them down to reveal the awakened monster.

I turned the bottle, swirling the contents within it. "Mind telling me what this is?"
