Rhudamanth Di Gardia stood frozen amidst the carnage looking at the scene unfolding before him.
Zhao Tian glimpsed at the broken body of Selena beside his feet.
Her body trembled and muscles twitched uncontrollably from the sheer trauma of having her cultivation forcibly shattered.
Zhao Tian crouched slightly as he reached out and took a fistful of her long, bloodstained hair.
Without a moment’s hesitation, he pulled her upward.
"AAAGGHHH!!"
Selena’s scream tore through the air as she was dragged off the ground and her scalp burned as strands of her black hair were ripped from the roots.
Zhao Tian didn’t slow his steps and pulled her along, her body scraping against the blood-soaked stones as they ascended toward the towering structure that loomed over the battlefield.
Each movement sent fresh jolts of pain through her as the rough surface of the blood stone tore into her flesh, leaving behind a gruesome trail of blood smeared across the ground.
"GAAAHH!!"
Her hands clawed weakly at the air, desperate to stop the ceaseless torment, but her fingers could barely curl into fists.
She could feel her scalp beginning to tear under the force of his grip.
Zhao Tian reached the edge of the citadel and with a final step, he threw her forward.
CRASH!
Selena’s body slammed into the stone wall and the force alone was enough to jolt her mind into a haze of pain.
Her limbs twitched as she lay sprawled at the base of the citadel like a pitiful heap of flesh and bone.
Zhao Tian stepped forward and he barely spared her a glance as he stabbed his sword into the ground, the blade humming with restrained power.
His gaze flickered to the chains and without a word, he reached down and took them.
Selena’s breath hitched as she saw him approaching her and her mind screamed for her to move, to run, but her body refused to obey.
Fear coiled around her heart as he knelt beside her.

Then he grabbed her wrists and bound them together with the chains.
The cold steel bit into her skin as he pulled the restraints tight, the rough metal digging into her delicate flesh.
"Urgh!" A sharp whimper escaped her lips and her fingers trembled as she tried to resist, but the effort was futile.
Zhao Tian lifted her and hoisted her up, fastening the chains to the same spot where he himself had once been held captive.
Selena dangled from the stone structure, her feet barely scraping the ground as her arms strained under the weight of her own body.
"Grghhh..." Pain lanced through her shoulders and her already-weakened muscles trembled violently as she fought to keep herself from going completely limp.
Fear.
She turned her gaze toward Zhao Tian, and for the first time in her life, she looked at someone with sheer fear.

"UNCLE! UNCLE! HELP ME! PLEASE, COME HERE!!"
Her voice rang out in desperation, trembling with panic as she screamed for help.
THUD!
His fist sank into her gut with a crushing force.
Selena’s entire body convulsed violently and a sharp, wet gasp choked from her lips as the breath was ripped from her lungs.
Her abdomen caved inward under the sheer impact and her ribs screamed in pain.
Her vision blurred and her head slumped forward as nausea twisted inside her stomach.
She vomited blood.
Thick, crimson liquid spilled from her lips, dribbling down her chin as her head swayed weakly.
Her mind was spiraling, barely clinging to consciousness and her body screamed for relief that would never come.
He raised his hand and his fingers curled around her throat tightly.
"Urgghh.." She kicked her legs and her body trembled as she dangled in his grasp, but there was no strength behind her struggle... just the pathetic, instinctive resistance of someone who knew they were about to be torn apart.
Without a word, he released her throat and let her body slump against the chains.
Then, with a flick of his wrist he took a sharp dagger from his storage ring.
"H-Huh?" Selena’s breath hitched and her body stiffened as she finally realized, but before she could even open her mouth to scream, he struck.
SHCLIIKK
The dagger sank into her left eye socket with a sickening schlick as the thin blade slid effortlessly through flesh, muscle, and nerves, carving deep into the delicate orb of her eye.
"AARGGGGHHHHHHHH!" A piercing, blood-curdling scream tore from her throat as pain exploded through her skull and her body jerked violently against the chains.
Blood spurted from the wound, spilling down her cheek like crimson tears.
Zhao Tian twisted the dagger cruelly, feeling the soft tissue of her eyeball rupture and collapse under the pressure, before he gave a sharp pull, wrenching the eyeball from its socket with a pop.
A long, glistening string of nerves and torn muscle clung stubbornly to the eyeball before it snapped, sending the eye orb tumbling down to the blood-soaked ground with a wet plop.
As they say, an eye for an eye.
"AARRHHHHHH!! ARGGHHHHHHHH!!! RAAAARRRRRR!!!"
Selena’s body was convulsing so violently that the chains rattled as her remaining eye rolled back in sheer pain.
Her mind was drowning in pain and her vision reduced to a blurry, distorted mess of crimson and shadow as her nerves burned like molten fire had been poured into her skull.
Zhao Tian flicked the excess blood from his dagger.
Then he lowered the blade toward her remaining eye, watching as her remaining pupil shrank in sheer horror.
"Shall we make it even?"
"N-NOO!"
In the next instant, he felt the air shifting around him and he turned his gaze to look at the incoming blood spire.
He extended his hand and took the sword as he slashed the spire into two.
The blood spire split cleanly in two, both halves dispersing into a fine crimson mist before they could even graze him.
Lowering his sword, he glanced at Rhudamanth Di Gardia, who had finally decided to step in.
Rhudamanth’s eyes narrowed slightly as he looked at Zhao Tian "I think I have accessed you long enough."
Rhudamanth has always been cautious and he takes fights that he is confident he can win.
Even now he had thoughts of fleeing from here.
That’s why he was watching Zhao Tian’s movements till now.
And he is confident that he can stop Zhao Tian.
