Chapter 84: Chapter 62: A Duel of Wills: The Abyssal Divine Chosen One and the Empire’s Chosen One
The elite unit tasked with capturing Reinhardt was the Ash Guard.
Fiercely battling the Radiant Angels to the south were the main force and their support units, along with some New Recruit Knights from outside the official ranks.
Aside from the traitors within the Ash Guard, those one hundred and four members comprised more than half of the Death Battle Group!
The only good news was also the second piece of bad news.
During this offensive, neither the Battle Group Commander nor the other deputy commander made an appearance. The Radiant Angels suspected they might have already been killed.
However, with two powerful Earth Knights present, suppressing the rebellion within the Death Battle Group became much less difficult.
After Sedon and Heinrich left with the Loyalist Knights, only Reinhardt and a single Radiant Angel remained on the desolate, corpse-strewn grassland.
The Angel took off her stuffy, fully-enclosed helmet, revealing a scar-covered face and short white hair.
Her brow furrowed as she inspected the wound on Reinhardt’s right arm. She took out a syringe, injected it into his chest, and then used the Flame of Sanctity to cauterize his arm, which had been mangled into a ruined pulp.
A moment later, Reinhardt, his consciousness hazy, sucked in a sharp breath. He shot a hand up and grabbed the Angel by the neck, his eyes blazing with inextinguishable fury.
But when he clearly saw that the person in front of him wasn’t Sedon, he faltered for a moment before gradually loosening his grip.
The Angel coughed dryly and rolled her neck, her expression unchanging. "Don’t forget where we are," she said coldly. "Your battle with Lord Sedon is over."
She took out a new syringe and handed it to him, adding, "My power isn’t enough to completely heal your injuries, but the real battle has only just begun.
If the pain becomes unbearable, or if you’re so exhausted you can’t think straight, use this. It’ll get you through."
With that, the white-haired Angel got to her feet and pulled Reinhardt up. She donned her helmet again. There was a roar from its steam engine, and then she spread her Steel Wings, flying at high speed toward the battlefield to the south.
Reinhardt stood alone in the rain, holding the syringe in his hand.
The bone-chilling rain soaked his choppy hair, streaming down past his brows and cheeks.
His stamina had been massively depleted in the battle, but twelve hundred stacks of Steel of the Heart were providing him with significant stamina recovery. If it weren’t for Giant Devouring, the severe energy drain from his Bloodthirsty Madness would have already caused him to collapse unconscious.
He had gained those stacks of Steel of the Heart when he landed a punch on Sedon’s chest—the first time he had managed to hit him in the entire battle. Twelve hundred stacks. A number even more absurd than Heinrich’s level of power!
He summoned his system panel.
[Giant Devouring Current Stacks: 3675]
[Physical Enhancement Coefficient: 3.675]
His constitution had more than doubled yet again from its original base!
Now, the intensity of his Power, especially after his Morphic Armor completed its first evolution, had surpassed the Five-star Military Rank. This was a Knight’s first step beyond mediocrity, on the path to becoming a Hero Knight!
Even as the rain poured down, the sounds of slaughter and the shouts of battle from the southern part of the town remained incredibly clear.
Albert approached, carrying the still-unconscious Dietlinde. The resolute-looking Radiant Angel let out a weary breath. "I’ve managed to save her life for now," he said.
"But whether or not she wakes up will depend on her own resilience and will to live.
I’m needed for the battle to the south. I’ll leave her..."
Before Albert could finish, a brutal, bloodthirsty presence erupted from within Baihe Town!
Sensing this ominous presence, the expressions of the two men shifted, and they turned to look back at the town.
A colossal Abyssal Teleportation Gate, like a tear in the fabric of space and time, was slowly creaking open! An endless tide of Demons surged forth!
