Chapter 191: Chapter 156: The Fire of War Spreads, a Major Choice
When a two-point-three-meter-tall behemoth, clad in Composite Steel Power Armor and weighing a combined total of over five hundred thirty kilograms, comes hurtling toward you at subsonic speeds...
...even with the protection of an Energy Force Field, shattered bones and torn flesh are inevitable.
Unlike Knights or Wizards, a Mage’s Mighty Power comes from gifts bestowed by the Demons of the Void Realm, not from within. Even after advancing to the level of a Governor, without a special Void Divine Artifact or protective Alchemy Technology, "glass cannon" is the term that best describes them.
In fact, Reinhardt’s extreme speed was nothing more than a hazy afterimage in the Mage’s vision.
By the time the Divine Emperor’s Fury pierced his chest, the unlucky Void Governor had no time to react. The Fortress Level Power Armor worn by Reinhardt was like a roaring steel war machine, crushing him completely!
BANG—!
A shower of blood, flesh, and bone fragments splattered across the ground!
Even the Mage’s mount was smashed to pieces, letting out a final cry as it crashed to the ground, lifeless.
After Reinhardt landed, the blood and shredded flesh covering his Power Armor were washed away by the downpour, streaming onto the ground.
At this moment, the war between the Space Dragon Race and the Demon Legion was growing ever more ferocious.
Warship-grade artillery fire exploded high in the sky like a dense display of deadly fireworks.
More and more troops were abandoning their ships to land on Kemola’s surface. Both sides were vying to seize control of the planet first, intending to use it as a frontline fortress in this cosmic war.
Massive white columns of light from landing beacons shot toward the sky, weaving together into a brilliant spectrum of destruction.
Agate looked up at the sky, his Mechanical Eye twitching slightly. He spoke via Telepathy, ’The war between the Space Dragon Race and the Demons is showing signs of spiraling out of control, Reinhardt. We have to...’
Before he could finish,
a landing beacon from the Space Dragon Race, like a falling meteor, came screaming through the clouds, plummeting toward the entrance of the ruins!
Reinhardt silently gave a tactical hand signal. The others understood immediately and, without hesitation, sprinted toward the ruins’ entrance.
Four of the five major powers in the Ash Soil Star Zone had already entered the ruins ahead of them.
Even if they couldn’t get the Ancient Black Box themselves, they absolutely could not let Grand Lord Kles’s people have it.
Reinhardt had not forgotten what happened on Verne. The deaths of nearly ten million civilians and the slaughter of a million Defense Army soldiers—memories soaked in blood and hatred.
Rebino killing that Grand Interrogator was just the beginning. Sooner or later, he would personally twist that bastard’s head off!
And now, Kles’s people thought they could take the Ancient Black Box from right under his nose? ’Dream on!’
Along the way, Technician Soldier Agate, breaking his usual taciturn nature, concisely explained some details about the ruins via their shared telepathic link.
In ancient times, powerful Wizards who possessed Demigod Level Mighty Power were known as ’Saints,’ beings of eternal, undying life.
But everything changed after the birth of the Void Realm and Demons.
Civilizations withered, planets shattered, and countless powerful Wizards fell in the great war of the first expedition into the Void Realm.
Even the eternally living Saints eventually met their end under the corrosion of the Void Realm.
Kemola Tomb World was once a massive burial complex used by a certain Wizard Civilization to entomb and commemorate their fallen. The Saint who ruled this civilization was buried at the edge of the planet’s core.
The heat from the core was used to keep the remains from decaying.
According to Agate’s intelligence, the entire underground ruin was a colossal burial complex, roughly the size of two Stereoscopic Cities combined.
Its passages were a sprawling maze, making it very easy to get lost.
It extended more than ten thousand meters vertically.
Although the burial complex was a million years old, the area near the planetary core where the Saint’s Remains were interred was still protected by numerous defensive installations.
That was why, before coming here, Agate had received a top-secret technique secretly transferred to him by the Mechanical Order, meant for opening the tomb chamber of the Saint’s Remains.
And the Ancient Black Box was located beneath the Saint’s Remains.
Just as the Vengeance Angel Squad entered the ruins, the Space Dragon Race’s landing beacon came crashing down.
Despite Kemola Tomb World being a million years old, some of the lighting systems within the ruins were still operational, and traces of Witchcraft Technology could be seen in every corner.
The teleporters inside the burial complex looked remarkably similar to the landing beacons.
A few Wizard Robes lay scattered near the entrance. Though covered in dust, the orderly and elegant energy pathways on their surfaces would occasionally pulse with a faint blue light.
They had endured for a million years without decaying.
A heavily corroded steel corridor near the entrance was riddled with signs of a battle between Transcendants. Unsurprisingly, the first groups to arrive had fought here.
There were even three bodies scattered not far away.
Raphael inspected their Power Armor and confirmed their identities.
"Knights from the Oreno Family. I can sense the presence of Void Power in their bodies... Kles’s people did this."
Agate took out an instrument designed to detect Witchcraft Technology. After fiddling with it for a moment, he said, "Follow me. There’s a working teleporter nearby."
And as Reinhardt stepped onto the teleporter leading deeper into the burial complex, ethereal blue text lit up in his vision.
[Story Mode Act 1: The Beginning, has commenced.]
[At Lady Catherine’s invitation, you have successfully entered the burial complex containing the Saint’s Remains. Although she never told you which Wizard’s Secret Treasure she wanted, you know now.]
[This is a turning point, Reinhardt. Your choice will determine the future of the Imperial Administrative Region, and even the entire Human World.]
[Death Omen Ending: If you forge the Ancient Black Box into a Knight’s Treasure, your personal power will grow exponentially. But can you truly accept the price of such a choice?]
[Emperor Ending: If you secretly hand over the Ancient Black Box to Lady Catherine, the balance of power in the Imperial Administrative Region, and even the entire Ash Soil Star Zone, will be completely transformed. You will personally gain the eternal friendship of the Capet Family and Lady Catherine.]
[Knight Ending: If you turn the Ancient Black Box over to Grand Governor Sedon, you will receive nothing more than a letter of commendation. There will be no other tangible rewards.]
[Demon Ending: Kles’s people have seized the Ancient Black Box. Your mission is a complete failure.]
[Of course, regardless of the choice you ultimately make, you will receive an additional Wizard’s Secret Treasure that can be used to develop the Earth Ring.]
[System reward has been distributed.]
