Chapter 188: Chapter 153: The Eye of the Great Demon? But It’s Useless
Just like Stein.
Logan had once been just an ordinary New Recruit Knight in the Conqueror Battle Group. But after receiving the Prophet’s favor and blessings, his strength grew with each passing day. In just ten short years, it had swelled to the level of a Four-star Earth Knight!
His power had advanced even faster than Reinhardt’s!
Thanks to his mutated and twisted Extraordinary Armament—those illusory tentacles laced with Demon Poison—Logan was all-conquering on the battlefield. The army knew him as the Little Baze War God.
Unfortunately, it was only when he truly faced Reinhardt that this so-called Baze War God realized the terrifying gap in raw power between himself and the formidable Divine Chosen Knights!
Reinhardt was only a One-star Military Rank Earth Knight and was visibly not even using his full strength, yet Logan could barely hold on, sweating profusely during their clash of Body Techniques.
However, the trump card that had allowed him to kill an Emperor’s Shield Battle Group Tutor and made the Master Level Tier Two Wizard Florant so wary wasn’t his mutated Knight Power, nor was it his mediocre Body Techniques.
It was a powerful treasure bestowed upon him by the Prophet—the Eye of the Great Demon.
As long as he played this card, no matter how powerful his enemy, they would be momentarily trapped in the illusions created by its terrifying gaze, losing all ability to fight and left to his mercy.
This was how he had managed to slaughter that Emperor’s Shield Battle Group Tutor.
With the Eye of the Great Demon, he had once single-handedly annihilated a hundred-man Knight Battle Group in an Imperial Administrative Region! His military achievements were great, and his fearsome reputation began to grow!
Manon’s back was now soaked in a cold sweat. If Reinhardt hadn’t intervened, he didn’t dare to imagine what would have just happened.
He had just witnessed a Four-star Earth Knight get so brutally thrashed by Reinhardt that he was sent crashing into the mud, unable to get up. Blood gushed from his completely shattered full-face helmet.
Manon didn’t know whether to say Reinhardt was just that powerful, or if his opponent was simply too foolish and arrogant to try and engage a Body Technique Knight like Reinhardt in close combat.
As far as he knew, even Battle Group Tutor Geoffroy held Reinhardt’s Body Techniques in extremely high regard.
Quickly putting distance between himself and Logan to avoid another sneak attack, Raphael regrouped with the other squad members, his expression grim. "Seventy-Six is in trouble. He probably didn’t want to expose my position, so he proactively shielded our Mind Mark connection."
As he spoke, he looked up at the approaching Space Dragon Race Battleship, the Void Governor, and its demonic minions. Just as he, in his role as the team’s Think Tank, was about to issue orders using the tactics he had learned, an extremely powerful surge of Void Power suddenly erupted from Logan on the ground!
The gloomy Great Demon Power instantly swallowed all surrounding light.
Like a sudden, rising tide of darkness, it submerged the entire Vengeance Angel Squad.
It all happened too fast!
In the corner of Raphael’s eye, Reinhardt had only just drawn the Divine Emperor’s Fury, preparing to execute the Four-star Earth Knight, Logan.
In that instant, he sensed an utterly terrifying, yet horribly familiar, Demon Power pierce through his Mind Barrier, dragging his consciousness into the illusions he feared most.
It was as if he had returned to Verne, to the day his soul was tainted by the Void Divine Artifact—the Mind-Stealing Gem.
Endless pain and sorrow completely overwhelmed his mind.
Even though Raphael’s rational mind fought against this power, not even Radiant Angels wielding the Legendary Power of a Great Angel could easily resist the Great Demon’s terrifying gaze. How could ordinary Knights and Wizards with no special countermeasures possibly stand against it?
It wasn’t just Raphael. The other members of the Vengeance Angel Squad were also trapped in illusions, their faces contorted in agony, unable to break free.
Logan laughed.
A wild, crazed laugh!
"The Emperor’s Vengeful Angels? You’re not even shit! HAHAHA—!"
He climbed out of the mud and tore off his helmet, which was now nothing but scrap metal. He revealed a hideously deformed face, like that of a monster, with the Eye of the Great Demon embedded in his cheek.
It was the size of a fist, with a long, slender pupil of a strange brownish-gold color, and it radiated a horrifying aura.
Logan slapped the mud from his body, looking mockingly at the members of the Vengeance Angel Squad, his gaze landing on Reinhardt.
He admitted that the earlier elbow strike had nearly killed him. But with the immense power granted by the Prophet, his body was no longer that of an ordinary Knight. Conventional methods could severely injure him, but they could hardly kill him.
As the pressure on his mind faded, Logan exhaled a turbid breath. The feeling of being in complete control was wonderful.
’Vengeful Angels? The Empire’s Chosen One? So what? They’re all just standing here waiting to be slaughtered by me, aren’t they?’
He was very satisfied, even enjoying the terror and shock on the faces of Raphael and the others. The only thing that displeased him was that Reinhardt’s gaze seemed to follow his movements, his full-face helmet turning slightly.
’That makes sense,’ he mused. ’Back when I used the Eye of the Great Demon to ambush and kill that Emperor’s Shield Battle Group Tutor, my target was also able to track my position despite being deep in the illusion. It gave me quite a scare back then. Fortunately, all he could do was sense my presence. He couldn’t fight back against the Eye of the Great Demon’s terrifying gaze.’
Logan stood five meters away from Reinhardt and sneered. It was as if he would feel physically ill if he didn’t spell out his entire scheme.
Or perhaps, anyone favored by a Great Demon under the Formless Divine Monarch was bound to have such flaws.
It was true for Stein, and it was true for Logan.
Their minds were full of wicked schemes, but their personalities had obvious defects that made them easy to control.
After all, the Void Realm Great Demons weren’t running a charity. To receive their blessings, one had to pay a great, unseen price.
"Reinhardt, do you have any idea how badly Grand Lord Kles wants you dead? Tsk, I’ve been planning for this day for a long, long time. I can’t even imagine what kind of reward I’ll get for bringing him your head."
"I know you can sense my presence, but what can you do about it? A brainless brute like you, all brawn and no brains, deserves to be crushed under the heel of my meticulous plan!"
Even though Logan’s face was completely twisted and mutated, you could still faintly make out his smug, gloating expression, as if crushing Reinhardt would be as easy as squashing an ant.
Noticing signs that Raphael was about to break free from the illusion, he snorted coldly, and the terrifying gaze of the Eye of the Great Demon descended once more!
Raphael’s body trembled violently, like a prisoner with a noose around his neck. His expression twisted in agony, and his breathing became ragged.
Logan slowly walked over to Manon, who was pinned in place by the illusion. He seemed to harbor an intense personal hatred for the Emperor Shield Battle Group, as if he had suffered a great loss at their hands long ago.
He picked up his bizarre Knight’s Broadsword, from which tentacles were sprouting, and walked up to Manon, his eyes filled with a hateful, sadistic excitement.
"You Emperor’s Shield guys are all the same. Stubborn and hard-headed..."
Just as he raised his sword, preparing to start with Manon and kill the members of the Vengeance Angel Squad one by one, a voice steeped in cruel indifference suddenly sounded from behind him.
"Done talking?"
