Chapter 165: Chapter 147 Green-haired Zombie_2

The creature hasn’t died yet, attempting to struggle back to its feet.

Lu Yan quickly steps forward, severing its head with a single stroke, then cuts open the creature’s body to extract a Demon Evils Crystal. He leaps agilely, speeding away, disappearing from the sight of the others.

From high up in the trees, Lu Yan’s view is impeccable. Even the beasts that hide within the dense bushes can’t escape his eyes.

Whenever he spots a martial beast of Master Level, Lu Yan would wound it with an arrow, then descend to deliver the killing blow.

Half an hour later, Lu Yan has killed a total of three Master Level beasts.

Suddenly, Lu Yan hears a collision noise from up ahead. Approaching, he sees three human Martial Marquises, surrounding and attacking a beast.

The beast is of Martial Marquis Level Three.

Out of the three human Martial Marquises, one is at Level Three, while the other two are Level Two.

Even though the three Martial Marquises hold the absolute upper hand, they cannot subdue the creature due to its desperate counterattack.

Primarily, these three don’t want to fight to the death, thus they adopt a guerrilla strategy, hoping to exhaust the creature’s stamina before killing it.

"Wasting time."

Lu Yan releases an arrow directly.

The arrow, like a startled rainbow, cuts through the void, piercing the creature’s skull.

The three Martial Marquises are startled. They stand in a line, assuming a defensive posture, staring in the direction from which the arrow flew.

Lu Yan leaps down, walking towards the creature to deliver another blow.

"Sir, we found this creature first..."

A Martial Marquis begins to speak.

"Scram."

Lu Yan’s gaze is sharp, his aura menacing.

The three Martial Marquises look displeased, but upon recalling how Lu Yan’s single arrow grievously wounded the equivalent of a Level Three creature, fear surges in their hearts.

If Lu Yan can easily deal critical damage to the creature, he can also easily kill them.

The three can only admit their bad luck and slink away in shame.

Lu Yan extracts the Demon Evils Crystal from the creature and quickly leaves.

For the next while, Lu Yan doesn’t encounter another martial beast at Master Level.

With a large number of these beasts being pursued and slaughtered by human Martial Marquises, those that are left aren’t many. Most, he presumes, have fled to the deeper mountains.

Lu Yan speeds up, heading towards the deeper mountains.

"Huh?"

Suddenly, Lu Yan sees a corpse.

The corpse has turned black, but there doesn’t appear to be any wounds on it.

Looking around, Lu Yan doesn’t notice any traces of the beasts. He leaps down to take a closer look at the condition of the corpse.

But there are no discernable wounds.

"The face has turned black...was it poisoned to death? Some creatures are known to be highly toxic, I must not underestimate them."

Lu Yan silently warns himself and turns to leave.

Just as Lu Yan turns his back, the corpse suddenly opens its eyes. It quickly stands and lunges at Lu Yan.

In these woods, Lu Yan’s senses are always on high alert, attuned to every rustle and whisper of the wind.

He hears the instant when the opponent moves, digs in his heels, and sidesteps about three meters - evading the attack.

Simultaneously, he pulls out his Red Blood Blade, slashing towards his left, his movements fluid and smooth.

Clang!

Astonishingly, the corpse extends black fingernails, as hard as metal. They collide with the Red Blood Blade, producing the sound of metal clashing against metal, as if two War Knives have struck each other.

Lu Yan’s arm tingles slightly from the impact, while the corpse is pushed back three steps.

Roar!

The corpse emits a low growl, kicks the ground, and lunges at Lu Yan again.

Lu Yan swerves to dodge the attack, then brings his blade down on the creature’s back.

Sizzle...

When the Red Blood Blade cuts down on the creature, it’s like striking metal, incredibly hard. It leaves only a shallow cut, with no fresh blood flowing out.

"What is this thing? A zombie?"

Lu Yan speculates.

Because he can’t detect the creature’s heartbeat.

Its body feels like metal.

Lu Yan has heard of certain Martial Artists, whose corpses under certain fortuitous circumstances, incorporate corrupt energies and turn into zombies.

Zombies, another type of creature, can form Demon Evils Crystals within their bodies.

"Equivalent to Martial Marquis Level Five, not bad."

Lu Yan begins to focus, his nine bone strengths fully igniting within him, causing his body to shine golden.

Whoosh!

After evading another attack from the zombie, Lu Yan unleashes a full-strength slash.

This slash, even if it hit metal, would split it into two.

The zombie’s chest was split open by the Red Blood Blade, revealing a wound a foot and a half long and two inches deep.

It almost split the zombie in half.

A roar!

In fury, the zombie emitted a misty haze of grey. Surprisingly, green hair sprouted from its blackened body, squirming at the wound like silk thread, sealing the gash.

"So this is the legendary Green-haired Zombie with such restorative abilities?"

While Lu Yan was secretly amazed, he doubled his offensive efforts, repeatedly slashing with the Red Blood Blade.

After the zombie sprouted green hair, its strength and defensive abilities dramatically increased.

Unfortunately, it was still too slow and, facing Lu Yan, it only received a beating.

Six successive slashes in the same wound finally cut the zombie in two. Lu Yan reached in and pulled out a Demon Evil Crystal the size of a lychee.

A hundred combat merits, within grasp.

"This Green-haired Zombie is slightly harder to deal with than an ordinary Martial Marquis Level Five demon" Lu Yan thought to himself.

Putting away the Demon Evil Crystal, Lu Yan swiftly departed for the deep mountains.

On his way, he encountered no other Master Level demons.

Another half an hour passed.

"Hm? Why are there so many people ahead?"

Lu Yan stood in a large tree, looking into the distance. He could see a great deal of human martial artists gathered ahead, at least forty to fifty of them.

These people were gathered in front of a valley, seemingly hesitant to proceed, which was strange.

Lu Yan propelled himself off a branch, leaping fifty meters towards another large tree, then again a few tens of meters, quickly approaching the group of people before slowing down his approach.

Many people saw Lu Yan but dismissed him, their gazes lingering on the valley ahead.

Lu Yan noticed the valley was wide and overgrown, littered with decayed dried leaves, poisonous insects coming and going.

A green fog lingered as well.

A miasma.

This valley was filled with a dense miasma.

"Brother, what’s the purpose of everyone gathering around this valley?" Lu Yan asked a large man in his forties softly.

"Because a large number of demon creatures have run into this valley. They are probably trying to use the miasma to ward us off. We are afraid and dare not enter." The large man explained softly.

Lu Yan nodded.

It was normal for the people to be cautious. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

Demons have peculiar physiques. After undergoing transformation under the influence of corrupt gases, they’re almost immune to most toxins. They’re just as comfortable in a miasma-filled valley as a fish is in water.

But the human martial artists were not.

A while later, more people arrived.

"At this rate, how long are we going to wait? If you’re scared, I’ll go in alone."

Someone sneered and strode towards the valley, quickly entering the miasma zone.

"That’s Ouyang Zeng. He ranks 31st on the Martial Marquis List and is adept in the art of poison. His top-tier martial art cultivation also involves poison, so his fearlessness towards the miasma is understandable." People around whispered.

Just then, another person briskly entered the valley.

This man appeared to be in his thirties, tall, robust, and carrying a large long-handled hammer. He held an iron bow in his hand with a quiver hanging from his waist.

"That’s Gao Wanping of the main branch of the Nan Yi Gao Family. He ranks 16th on the Martial Marquis List. It is said that he has developed three layers of Bone Strength and is extremely formidable." Someone whispered.

After Ouyang Zeng and Gao Wanping entered the valley, three more people followed. All were renowned masters. Two of them also ranked on the Martial Marquis List, and the other, although not on the list, was a noteworthy contender near the list’s level.

Lu Yan did not enter.

No need to take such a risk. What if a Master-level demon lived inside?

Although the chance was small, it was better to be safe than sorry.

Better wait and see.

Boom Boom!

Suddenly, the ground in the valley started rumbling, and a large number of demons rushed out from the valley.

"Have they been startled?"

Taken aback, Lu Yan held the Red Blood Blade. When the demons had run out of the miasma zone, he dashed forward, setting his sights on a huge tiger demon. He dealt a massive blow with his blade.

This tiger demon, equivalent to a Martial Marquis Level Four, had one of its lethal claws cut off by Lu Yan. The second blow severed the demon’s head.

Then, a thrust of his blade pierced its heart. Lu Yan quickly dug out the Demon Evil Crystal and continued his relentless onslaught against the other demons.
