Lu Ye spent the following days activating the Tree of Glyphs’ power to absorb energy from the Blood Crystals while making ward nexuses. He could produce around 200 ward nexuses every day.

Feng Wujiang would look for him every two days and take the ward nexuses.

Although Lu Ye had been staying in his room, he still felt a sense of urgency as if a storm was coming. He knew that time was running out for Crimson Blood Holy Land.

Over a million Blood Race members were coming to attack them in all four directions. It wouldn’t take them a long time to arrive at the gates. When that happened, the Holy Land would either survive or be destroyed.

One month passed in the blink of an eye. During this period, Lu Ye had made around 5,000 to 6,000 ward nexuses, and he had consumed countless Blood Crystals.

He no longer needed to make more ward nexuses as they were more than sufficient, so he could focus on cultivating his power.

Around ten days later, his Spiritual Power became purer, reaching Nine Turns in the Real Lake Realm. As an air blast spread from his figure, he opened his eyes.

He was now in the Ninth-Order Real Lake Realm, which was one step away from the Divine Ocean Realm.

He had no more time to ascend to the Divine Ocean Realm. Also, since the war against the Blood Race was about to begin, he was no longer in the mood to keep cultivating his power.

Instead of immediately rising to his feet, he spent the next two days solidifying his cultivation. Only then did he leave his room and look for the green-clothed man, who had stayed on the Sacred Mountain. He told the other man to get him some materials.

Naturally, the green-clothed man wouldn’t turn him down. He had received Feng Wujiang’s order to stay here and satisfy all of Lu Ye’s needs.

Two hours later, the green-clothed man returned with the materials Lu Ye needed, and the latter started mixing them up.

The green-clothed man looked on curiously and asked, “What are you doing, Sir?”

Lu Ye replied, “It’s for creating Tattoos.”

“Tattoos?” The green-clothed man was puzzled. [What are those?]

“You’ll find out soon.” Lu Ye didn’t explain anything. He then asked, “How’s the situation now?”

With a solemn expression, the green-clothed man replied, “I’ve heard from the Holy Master that Blood Race members have started crossing Divine Palace Sea. Depending on how long it’ll take them, they’ll arrive in six to seven days or ten days to half a month.”

Lu Ye nodded, for there was sufficient time.

Half a day later, he was done making preparations. He beckoned to Dao Thirteen, who obediently approached him.

“Take off your top and lie down.” Lu Ye pointed at the wooden bed in front of him.

Dao Thirteen did as he was told.

When Lu Ye was ready, he fished out the needles given to him by Yun Xuechu and started marking a Glyph on Dao Thirteen’s figure. He was marking the United as One Glyph on him.

They already had the United as One Ward Nexuses. As long as they were within the ward nexuses’ coverage, they could easily connect their auras and form a formation.

But there was a problem. The ward nexuses might be seized and used by the enemies.

Moreover, once the ward nexuses were shattered in the war, the formations would break apart as well. After all, ward nexuses weren’t sturdy.

But Tattoos were different. They wouldn’t be seized or shattered unless the people marked with the Tattoos were dead.

Lu Ye was ready to mark Dao Thirteen and the Blood Race Slaves with United as One Tattoos. That way, they could replace ward nexuses. It could even be said each one of them was a ward nexus as they could easily connect their auras with other people.

More importantly, these Soul Slaves with Tattoos could join the Human soldiers and serve as ward nexuses where necessary. They might bring about amazing results at the most critical moment.

It had been a long time since Lu Ye studied the Way of Tattoos. The last time he did that, he was in the Ameliorate Arcane Glade on the Cloud River Battlefield marking those wolves with Tattoos.

Ever since he became a cultivator, he had always regarded the Way of Glyphs as the foundation while dabbling in many External Ways, which included the Way of Wards, the Way of Tattoos, the Way of Artification and more. He might come into contact with even more Ways in the future, but he couldn’t master all of them as his time and energy were limited.

He didn’t want to become a jack of all trades but a master of none.

His most important task was to increase his power. There might come a day when he could no longer make any progress in his cultivation. He would study more Ways when that time came, but he couldn’t do that now.

Although he wasn’t skilful in the Way of Tattoos, it wouldn’t be difficult for him to create Tattoos thanks to the Tree of Glyphs’ help. That was why he decided to do that to Dao Thirteen first.

The green-clothed man stood there and watched as Lu Ye moved his hands at an astounding speed. The needles jabbed into Dao Thirteen’s chest and formed a complicated Glyph. He was amazed.

A moment later, Dao Thirteen got to his feet and put on his top. Lu Ye told another Soul Slave to come over and did the same.

Not all Soul Slaves had their Tattoos marked on their chests. Some of them were female Blood Race members, so Lu Ye could only create the Tattoos on their backs. Their uneven chest would get in the way when he made the Tattoos.

It took him two days to mark all Soul Slaves with Tattoos, after which he started training them. The training was to help them familiarise themselves with the changes in formations.

Lu Ye had gotten a lot of different formations from Feng Wujiang to prepare for this. There was Black Tortoise Moon Viewing Formation, which focused on defences. He also had White Tiger Bombardment Formation, which could be used to kill enemies. There was also the unpredictable Dragon Seven Constellations Formation.

Since all of those formations had grand names, they were probably useful in a war.

Depending on the number of people, their formations would be different too.

If there were only two people, they could form Two Dragons Out of Water Formation. Above it were Heaven and Earth Three Elements Formation and Level Four Tushita Formation. When there were nine people, they could form Nine Palace Circle Formation.

Over the past hundreds of years, the Heavens of Jiu Zhou had sent many people to Blood Refinement Boundary. Those people were all knowledgeable and experienced. These formations were provided by the Seniors, whose knowledge and experience spanned 1,000 years.

Under normal circumstances, it was impossible to familiarise themselves with the changes in these formations in such a short time, not even if these people working together were close to each other.

It also didn’t help that Dao Troopers were mentally challenged. They would never understand what formations were.

But with the help of United as One, these Dao Troopers could practise these formations with ease.

The biggest difficulty for cultivators to form a formation was to connect their auras. The fluctuations of everyone’s aura were different. If they wanted to connect their auras, they had to give in to each other. It was just like how the elements of Yin and Yang were used when building a Glyph.

Every Glyph consists of countless elements of Yin and Yang that were combined in different ways. Only then would an entirety be formed.

United as One perfectly solved this biggest problem, and the rest would be easy.

After days of practice, Lu Ye led these Dao Troopers to leave the Sacred Mountain. He had found out where Feng Wujiang was, so he was going to see him.

A moment later, he saw Feng Wujiang on one of the surrounding islands.

There was a city on the island but no one lived there. All the Humans in the Holy Land lived on the largest island in the middle. The surrounding islands and the cities on them were used for defences.

Many cultivators were seen moving around in the city as they were preparing for war.

Feng Wujiang stood atop a wall. Around him were 70 to 80 people who were either seated or standing. It was apparent that Feng Wujiang was assigning tasks to them so that they could effectively defend the Holy Land. The people who had the right to stay by his side at this point were powerful cultivators from Jiu Zhou.

After decades of development, there were some local Divine Ocean Realm Masters as well, but they were still weak. That was why they didn’t have a right to attend the meeting.

When Lu Ye arrived, they shifted their attention to him. Although no one activated their power, he still felt immensely pressured.

He swept a glance over them and realised most of them had white hair and beard. Middle-aged people were rarely seen.

There were a small number of female cultivators who had a way to preserve their youth just like Yue Ji. They were all beautiful and young, so they looked conspicuous among these old-looking people.

Lu Ye could see Jian Guhong, Wu Chang, Meng Jie, and Grandma Jiu among the crowd.

When he landed on the ground, the Dao Troopers behind him did the same. All of them were expressionless, and their eyes were out of focus.

In comparison, Dao Thirteen looked like a normal person.

“Holy Master, is he your mysterious Junior Brother?” asked a white-haired old man. The others also curiously sized up Lu Ye.

Feng Wujiang laughed and amiable draped his arm around Lu Ye’s shoulders. “That’s right. He’s my Junior Brother. What do all of you think of him, Seniors? Don’t you think he’s got great potential?”

Lu Ye quickly saluted all of them. “Greetings, Seniors. I’m Lu Ye of the Crimson Blood Sect in Bing Zhou.”

He showed them due respect. This couldn’t be helped as all of them were Seniors who had lived for a long time. Every one of them was the most powerful cultivator who could shake the world in their respective era. Regardless of whether they were from the Grand Sky Coalition or Thousand Demon Ridge, they were in the same boat now.

Lu Ye loved the atmosphere. They were working together to achieve the same goal and there were no barriers or conflicts between them.

It was unlike Jiu Zhou where there were a lot of fights even if they were from the same side.

It was worse if they came from different sides. Even if there were no grudges between the two parties, they would still attack each other just because they were from opposing sides.

The white-haired old man ran his fingers through his beard and smiled. “I’m sure he’ll achieve great things in the future.”

As a Ninth-Order Real Lake Realm Master, Lu Ye was too weak compared with these people. However, everyone was aware of the skills he had showcased during this period.

Initially, those from the Holy Land didn’t have the confidence to fend off the Blood Race members. From the limited information they had gathered, a far greater number of Blood Race members had taken part in the war this time, and many powerful cultivators were hidden among the soldiers. There must be quite a number of Holy Seeds as well.

It was apparent that the Blood Race members knew as long as they could break the Holy Land’s outer defence line this time, they would have a chance to remove their biggest threat from Divine Palace Sea. As such, they had put in a lot of effort preparing for the war this time.

This caused those from Crimson Blood Holy Land to have a poor chance of achieving success. Before Lu Ye’s arrival, the Seniors were divided into two groups. One group advocated bringing Human cultivators to leave Divine Palace Sea and look for another place to settle down.

However, they gave up on the idea as it was too difficult to achieve.

After all, they were in Blood Refinement Boundary which was ruled by the Blood Race. Feng Wujiang was lucky enough to have found Divine Palace Sea and built Crimson Blood Holy Land here back then. There wasn’t another Divine Palace Sea in this world that had a similarly terrific terrain where they could rebuild Crimson Blood Holy Land.
