Chapter 1295: Chapter 979: Venting Anger
"The girl is right! We need to vent this pent-up frustration first!" Upon hearing this, Yun Mo’s fighting spirit surged.
His wings conjured feathered arrows sparkling with lightning, ready to charge forward and let them taste the sting of electricity!
The Fox Spirit, ever so shrewd, smiled slyly at the sight and stretched out an arm to stop him, "Hold on, keep pretending to be angry and helpless. Let them have their moment of triumph first."
Yun Mo, not comprehending, looked bewildered, "Earlier it was because we couldn’t win that we had no choice. Now we can utterly defeat them, why wait? Why put on an act?"
"Since they are willingly helping us deplete the Fish Demon’s energy, wouldn’t it be a waste not to use our free hands?" Hu Zhile whispered, her expression incredibly convincing.
She truly seemed both anxious and exasperated yet helpless, feebly urging her companion not to rush into danger.
"Miss Hu is absolutely right!" Yun Mo’s eyes lit up, thinking to himself how foolish he was and decides he must learn more from his seniors.
Anyway, since the other side was at fault first, once they beat the Fish Demon half to death, we can turn the tables on them and claim the spoils directly, how delightful!
On the riverside, the four fought the Fish Demon fiercely, as if the sky darkened and the earth quaked.
Observing coldly, besides acting, Hu Zhile wasn’t merely watching the spectacle.
She was continually studying the tactics of the opposing side, their Magical Treasures, cultivation techniques, and occasionally explained to Yun Mo while devising a plan to reclaim their prey.
"Just a little more effort, this big fellow is out of tricks!" The crimson-clad Cultivator, Zhong Yinghui, sensed the Fish Demon weaken, and excitedly raised his arm shouting, "Kill it! Not only can we claim a great bounty, but we can also steal the limelight!"
Though the remaining three were exhausted from the fight, they exuberantly echoed in unison.
Consider this: so many Cultivators in Carefree City, eager to obtain the bounty, hunting Demon Beasts outside the city year-round, and yet none had seen a trace of the Fish Demon in three days.
That it could be slain and dragged back by them today would certainly make them shine without equal!
"It wasn’t for nothing that we brought so much Talisman Paper on this trip, a single Demon Core is worth five hundred thousand Spirit Stones."
"Is this creature’s Demon Core really that valuable?"
"I’ve heard the Demon Core of an amphibian Fish Demon is a rare medicinal ingredient, used to refine priceless Elixirs!"
"Many Alchemists are willing to offer higher prices for it. But alas, amphibian Fish Demons live in extremely remote deep pools, making them incredibly hard to find, thus the price of Demon Cores skyrocket."
"No wonder, this time the Teleportation Array in Carefree City has done a great job!"
Listening to his companions’ discussions, Zhong Yinghui laughed heartily, "Oops! That’s not right, clearly the ones who did a great job are the Fox Spirit and the big eagle glaring over there.
Hahaha... Without them guiding us, we wouldn’t have stumbled upon such a windfall!"
Seeing that earlier, the eagle got indignant wanting to step forward, only to be persuaded by the Fox Spirit, made him all the more smug.
His brother was the Commerce Association President, although not someone who ruled with an iron fist, he was influential enough to shake things up with a mere stomp in Carefree City.
Leaning on his brother’s influence, Zhong Yinghui, naturally fond of the spotlight, would take three family servants along, and roam around wherever he pleased.
Whenever he fancied someone’s prey, he’d just snatch it!
Want to argue? Ha, go tell my brother! Little Demon Cultivators whose livelihoods depended on hunting Demon Beasts wouldn’t even warrant a snort from the Commerce Association President.
So-called righteous Stewards, upon hearing that the President’s brother snatched someone else’s prey, would only commend the young master for being diligent and daringly skilled.
Foregoing a life of luxury to hunt Demon Beasts laboriously, a "model worker," indeed!
Not only are they not reproached, they even seize the opportunity to flatter.
And as for those whose prey was snatched, all energy spent for nothing, Remained empty-handed?
Who told you to have no backing, no strong allies. To have your prey snatched by Young Master Zhong is a blessing in disguise!
Means you have a good eye, that the prey you found caught Young Master Zhong’s interest. If he didn’t wait for you to wear it down before outright seizing the spoils, it already shows his kindness.
The three family servants, accustomed to their young lord’s arrogance, burst into laughter. As they exalted their lord with praise, they mocked the two Demon Cultivators who could only watch in helplessness.
"Miss Hu, is it about time?" Yun Mo couldn’t wait any longer.
"Just a bit more patience, the Fish Demon isn’t easy to deal with. The magic bewitching it will soon wear off, once it comes to its senses it will definitely launch a fierce counterattack, that’s when we act separately."
"Understood!"
The long period of tacit cooperation had made Yun Mo trust Hu Zhile completely, especially her illusionary magic which proved to be incredibly effective against Demon Beasts.
On numerous occasions, the two of them together had managed to slay High Level Demon Beasts, owing it all to her illusionary magic.
Just wait for the magic to wear off, witness the Fish Demon’s counterattack for some amusement.
It wasn’t long after that, the pink mist that had enveloped the Fish Demon’s head slowly dissipated, and the Fish Demon, shaking its head, fully regained consciousness, its movements immediately doubling in speed!
"Smack!" The massive fish tail swept an unsuspecting servant flying;
With its two hefty front claws, it swiped two servants into the air; meanwhile, from its mouth erupted a torrent, catching Zhong Yinghui and the others off-guard.
"Now, go!" Hu Zhile’s lips curled as she issued the interception command.
When she lured the Fish Demon ashore, it fell into her trap, the whole fish was dazed and slow to react, allowing Zhong Yinghui and the others to benefit inadvertently.
She had timed it precisely, seeing Zhong Yinghui and the others oblivious to the intricacies, caught off-guard and failing to form a coherent Array, she issued the command while darting forward.
Striking its target, the Fish Demon had no intention of lingering, quickly retreating to submerge itself for refuge.
Just then, it crossed paths with Hu Zhile, and in that brief moment as they passed each other, with her left hand, she summoned a Colorful Ribbon to block Zhong Yinghui’s crew; with her right hand, she conjured a shimmering pink flower. With a flick, the flower petals shattered into a cloud of pink mist, directly enveloping the Fish Demon.
