The air around Ceres rippled and undulated as her power gathered around her form like a storm and she tore through the air like a devastating calamity. Her broad sword spreading twisting chaos along its path.

"Great Mountain Descent "

Ceres coldy declared, and the silver blade of her broadsword adopted a maroon-red color as it flashed forward from over her head. It suddenly felt like the weight of the air and pressure had grown heavier, the pressure only continuing to mount as her blade tore a path.

Indeed, truly—

-BOOM~

— it felt like a great mountain was descending from the skies.

And below it...

The giant Sand Worm couldn’t move.

It’s massiv body was simply too large, and the wide chamber was simply too small to accommodate its massive size.

Even if it tried to burrow under ground once more, it would already be too late.

Ceres, — her form a boiling figure of grandiose pressure and power now — descended at point black range against the armoured scales of the Sand Worm—

—and then the world rumbled!

[A few seconds before Ceres’ attack from above.]

Alex caught up to Xavier’s retreating figure and the others as they tried to quickly steer clear from the Sand Dragon.

They had no idea what Ceres was planning to do, aside from Xavier, and the tacit understanding the two shared, but the power surge from Ceres’ lithe figure from above was enormous and spoke volumes about something truly powerful.

Silently — almost instinctively — all four of them, Trise, Chelsea, Alexander, and Xavier knew—

What Ceres was about to do would probably bring down the whole chamber.

’That will be our chance ’ and so Xavier made up his mind.

No.

He shifted his gaze to the pensive faces of the others closing in next to him.

’Their chance.’

"Xavier, what was that all about?" Alexander was the first to approach and the first to speak.

His icy blue eyes had regained a part of their intensity from before and he stared straight at Xavier.

Xavier smiled strangely, subtly, feeling the intensity of those azure eyes on him; he could already sense some defiance nestling within them at what he was about to say.

He exhaled a breath and glanced at Ceres figure shrouded in rippling Aura up in the air above.

"The three of you will split up from the rest of us and go after Nicodemus. Ceres is about to clear an opportunity for you to do so. " Xavier briefly summarised without meeting the gazes of the three — Chelsea, Alex and Trise who had gathered around him.

Then Trise added, slightly with unease laced in her voice.

"What about you and Ceres?"

That was a foolish question.

It was clear Trise obviously probably knew the answer to that. The three of them all did.

But she still decided to express in words what they all were thinking.

"I’m not leaving you behind." The one who added this shortly was Alexander. His voice was stern and flat, leaving no room for negotiations or compromisation

Xavier’s expression twitched as his brows furrowed lightly in a frown. It was hard to say he hadn’t expected such a development like this from one of them, but Xavier still included;

"Trust me Alex, i wouldn’t want you to leave either, but i need you to be there with the girls. You saw what Nicodemus could do, frankly, I’m more pensive and worried about him than the Sand Dragon."

"Then—" as Xavier began, Alex pursed his lips and intended to interrupt, but Xavier was quick to continue.

"That’s why there’s even less of a reason for you to be here—" he stopped and looked at the three faces — "All of you."

Xavier made sure to explicitly emphasize the circumstances for all three to fully understand.

Leaving Nicodemus to escape all on his own held absolutely nothing good. His intentions and goals were unknown, and neither did he seem so friendly.

As a result, Xavier couldn’t help but hold a more higher level of wariness and unease for the Demon Contractor compared to the immediate threat of the Sand Worm present with them.

Xavier revealed a smile at Alex before shrugging.

"Don’t worry, i know i already said this before, but this time i really mean it. Ceres is here; she and i will take care of the King of the Desert and quickly come after you guys. You’ve seen what she can do; its more likely that with more of us here, we’ll only become a bigger liability for her if we remain." He said, emphasizing Ceres strength and ability as the top ranked Cadet of the first year.

Currently the only one higer Ranked than any of them — even the Desert King.

’Well, if it’s Ceres and Xavier, who are both top Rankers, them maybe...’

Those words flowed into the ears and hearts of the three — Alex, Chelsea, and Trise, providing them with a small rising level of comfort.

On the other hand they were incomparably lower ranked and weaker, and they were the ones who had to go after Nicodemus who had easily brought each and everyone of them to their knees against his feet.

With that line of thought.... Shouldn’t they be more worried about themselves?

Nicodemus was a Demon Contractor after all — it had already been painfully confirmed — he was an actual Villain.

The Sand Worm on the other hand, was just a powerful and large monster.

It felt obvious and clear where their worries were supposed to more naturally lie.

Feeling uneasy about leaving Ceres and Xavier behind against the monster felt like misguided worry when they looked at the bigger picture.

But it was never easy to fully abolish discomfort.

Alex looked down at his feet and his brows furrowed.

’This...!’

He felt an intense amount of frustration at himself.

He couldn’t be of help ro Ceres and Xavier because he was weaker, and at the same time, he had already lost pathetically to Nicodemus?

So where ....what exactly could he do?

’It’s because I’m too weak!’

Alex pursed his lips and looked Xavier in the eyes. Darkness brewing in the depths.

"Fine."
