Chapter 65: 65: First day at work. [1]

After a while, Selena finally drove the GLS back to the apartment complex.

The moment the vehicle came to a stop, everyone got out.

Benny looked at the building and suddenly frowned.

"Sister, we’ll need a bigger place."

Selena was in the middle of locking the car when she looked at him strangely.

"Why?"

Benny pointed at the group.

"Your small apartment can’t fit four of us, dumbass."

Selena stared at him and then she looked even more confused.

"Why are all of you trying to get into my apartment?"

Benny blinked.

"What do you mean?"

"I already rented the next two rooms."

"Oh."

Benny nodded and then his eyes widened.

"Ohhh. So Sister Yueyao can finally move out?"

Selena looked at him for several seconds and then she calmly replied,

"It’s you who’s moving out."

The smile on Benny’s face froze.

"What?"

"You heard me."

"But we’re family."

"Even if we’re family, it’s weird for a man and a woman to keep living together."

Benny immediately pointed at her.

"You weren’t saying that before."

"That’s because before you didn’t have another place to stay."

Meanwhile, Wang Jun had already retrieved his luggage from the rear of the vehicle.

Standing nearby, he watched the siblings argue.

What a rare sight.

He had known Benny since childhood.

Back then, Benny had always been the quiet one.

Not once had he seen the scrawny little guy argue back against Selena.

Yet here they were, bickering like children.

Apparently city life really changed people.

Ignoring Benny’s protests, Selena grabbed one of the bags and started walking toward the building.

"Come on."

She looked toward Wang Jun.

"I’ll show you two your rooms. The place isn’t that great, but it’s enough to live in."

Wang Jun immediately nodded.

"Thank you, Sister Selena."

Meanwhile, Benny followed behind with a defeated expression.

As they entered the building, he suddenly muttered,

"Then who’s going to do the cooking now?"

Selena didn’t even turn around.

"Yueyao can cook, it’s okay."

Benny followed Selena upstairs before eventually arriving at his new apartment.

After opening the door, he stepped inside and looked around.

The place wasn’t large.

In fact, it was roughly the same size as Selena’s apartment.

Right beside the entrance was a small doormat.

Beyond it was a section of wooden flooring where residents could leave their shoes before entering further.

A few steps ahead was the kitchen area.

The apartment itself was simple.

One bedroom, one bathroom, one living room and a kitchen.

There was also a small cramped storage space tucked away in one corner.

The area was supposedly meant for storing tools and miscellaneous items.

However, a narrow bed could fit inside.

Back when he had been living with Selena, that had effectively been his room.

Not that he had ever cared much about personal space.

He would have been perfectly happy sleeping on the couch.

Unfortunately, after Hong Yueyao moved in, Selena had repeatedly insisted that privacy was important and promptly banished him to the storage room.

Just as he was silently mourning the loss of free housing, his phone suddenly rang.

Benny lowered his head and the caller ID displayed a familiar name, Lucy.

A smile immediately appeared on his face.

"Goodness. You’re the only person who ever calls me."

He then picked up the call with a,"Hello."

"Hello, Boss."

"What is it?"

"The team found the land you requested."

Benny immediately straightened.

They have finally found something that met his requirements?

Lucy continued.

"Would you like to come personally inspect the property?"

Benny’s eyes lit up.

Isn’t this perfect timing?

He had been wondering how to introduce Wang Jun to the project.

Now the opportunity had practically delivered itself to his doorstep.

If the land looked suitably terrible, then the farming plan could begin immediately.

The more Benny thought about it, the happier he became.

"Alright."

He nodded without hesitation.

"I’ll be right there. Please send me the location."

"Understood."

The call ended shortly afterward.

A moment later, a message appeared on his phone containing the address.

Benny glanced at it before slipping the device back into his pocket.

Then he looked around the empty apartment one final time.

The empty rooms silently stared back at him.

"We’ll deal with this later."

After all, there were more important matters at hand.

With that thought in mind, Benny immediately left his apartment and headed next door.

A moment later, he knocked on the door.

The person who opened it was Wang Jun.

"Brother Benny?"

Benny nodded.

"Get ready. We’re going to work."

Wang Jun blinked.

"Work?"

"That’s right."

Benny looked very satisfied.

"Your first day starts today."

Although Wang Jun had no idea what kind of work this was, he quickly nodded.

"Alright."

Next Benny led Wang Jun out of the apartment.

The two walked a few steps down the corridor before stopping in front of the neighboring unit.

Benny raised a hand and knocked on the door.

A few seconds later, the door opened.

Selena stood there looking at the two of them.

"What?"

"Can I have some money?"

Selena stared at him and for a few seconds, neither spoke.

Then she sighed.

"How much?"

Benny immediately shook his head.

"I don’t know."

That answer somehow sounded more suspicious than naming an amount.

Still, Selena stood up and walked toward her room.

A moment later, she returned holding a few banknotes.

Without even counting them, she stuffed them into Benny’s hand.

"Here."

"Thank you, Sister."

Selena rolled her eyes.

"Don’t spend it on anything stupid."

"I won’t."

Meanwhile, Wang Jun stood nearby watching the entire exchange.

His expression became slightly dazed.

That was one thousand yuan.

Benny had asked for "some money" without even specifying an amount.

And Selena had casually handed over one thousand yuan in cash.

She didn’t even ask why he needed the money. She had simply given it to him just because he asked for it.

Are they really this well-off now?

The thought naturally appeared in Wang Jun’s mind.

After all, one thousand yuan wasn’t a small amount.
