The calm tone suppressed the rising hatred in the torture room. Gao Ming stared at the pebbles on the table. Bloody arms appeared to crawl out from his back to raise a Blood City without borders. Huang Yin felt suffocated just looking at Gao Ming. He had no idea where No. 2 found this Demon God.
“Talking about an Unmentionable might grab their attention. If this is really your goal, you'd better make a move as soon as possible. Do not give him the chance to be prepared.” No. 2 knew he couldn’t sway Gao Ming’s decision, so he cooperated. “Huang Yin knows the location of the passage. He’ll bring you there once you’re ready. However, destroying the Dark Blood City’s altars is something very dangerous and difficult. The altars from that city are very unique. As long as a piece of it still remained, they could be reborn in the dark. The altars would move once they sensed danger.”
“You don’t need to worry about that.” Gao Ming and the God of Flesh and Blood had been a Dream Ghost for a while already. They were familiar with the Dream Ghost’s power. They knew why the other Blood Cities would be so hostile towards Han Hai. “Dream Ghosts are masters at taking over faith and corrupting altars through nightmare.”
“You cannot be too careful.” No. 2 was more nervous than Gao Ming. If Gao Ming succeeded, they would enter Xin Lu Blood City and come closer to the world’s saviours. Gao Ming nodded and looked around. Huang Yin’s hiding place was dirty and messy. It looked like an underground sewer.
“This is a fragment of Perfect Life. It was once the home of an Unmentionable. The building above me is filled with criminals.” Huang Yin offered, “If I can help you with anything, please tell me.”
“The players at Molten Fire told me that you are guarding the Life Cemetery. I need the gaming chambers there so my people can easily enter Xin Lu Blood City through Perfect Life,” Gao Ming uttered directly. Each sealed chamber represented a dead player. After Huang Yin heard Gao Ming’s request, he was silent for a long time before agreeing. “I have the key and only I know the cemetery’s location. When you connect the passage to the inner world, I’ll tell you everything.”
Huang Yin’s words represented the key and also the hope of all the players. He had no special power or supernatural aid. The fact that he could hold on for long after the saviours left was a miracle. He could have sided with Immortal Pharma and enjoyed a fabulous life. Immortal Pharma would have given him everything. However, he became Xin Lu’s most notorious criminal to uphold his justice. Huang Yin didn’t complain even after he fell from heaven to hell. He waited patiently in jail.
“Deal.” Gao Ming shook Huang Yin’s hand. Then, he posed another question, “You are the saviour’s most trusted friend. Did he tell you what his goal was?”
“My memory of him has become blurry. I believe he went into the sea of blood to look for someone.”
“Who?”
“Himself…”
Gao Ming didn’t get it, but Huang Yin couldn’t explain more. After they confirmed the time, Gao Ming left.
After leaving Perfect Life, Gao Ming found the leader of Team One and Wan Jie. He asked them about Immortal Pharma and the taboo game. The leader of Team One didn’t know anything. Wan Jie told Gao Ming many things. He had a clearer understanding of the game banned by Immortal Pharma.
The night slowly approached. When the sun sank below the horizon, Gao Ming, Wan Jie and the leader of Team One came to the gaming chambers prepared by Brother Chong. At first, Gao Ming didn’t want the two to follow him. He hadn’t fully trusted Wan Jie. However, when he chatted with him, he realised Wan Jie’s brain was filled with knowledge relating to fighting ghosts. Gao Ming changed his mind.
“We’re going to face an Unmentionable. The more we talk about him, the easier he’ll sense us. Just stay close to me.”
Gao Ming didn’t delay and departed when night fell. The three entered the Death Building and used the dresser to reach Huang Yin’s hideout.
“We have to move fast. The passage is changing. I don’t know what’s happening, but I suspect something has happened to Xin Lu Blood City.” Huang Yin had put on a pure black jacket. It was dotted with curses. It could eclipse other people’s senses of him. This treasure would fetch a high price among the taboo game players.
Huang Yin led them through the broken game’s doors and arrived at an inverted city ruin. When the last door was pushed open, Gao Ming was stunned by what he saw. The city meant to heal had been disintegrated into pieces. The ground became the sky. The sky was an endless abyss. Crumbled houses floated around them.
“This is the passage. This used to be Perfect Life’s hub, the connection between the two worlds. Many players worked together to build the largest virtual city the world had ever seen.”
Huang Yin passed through the marked door and neared the abyss. The bottomless abyss cliff was decorated with houses and shops, but they were all abandoned.
“Do not stare at the darkness. Clear your mind. Follow me. Trust me.”
Huang Yin lowered his head. He danced along the buildings built into the cliff and kept going down.
The darkness became so thick that their eyes became pointless.
“Bind this to your waist.” Huang Yin tore bloody clothes into strips and made a rope. “It’ll get very quiet, so I’ll stop talking. When I stop moving, we’ve reached our destination.”
Huang Yin covered his mouth with his collar and started to speed up. He stopped talking about the darkness and fully submerged into it. Time lost its meaning. Darkness was everything.
After who knew how long, Gao Ming bumped into Huang Yin’s back. He realised the man had stopped moving.
“We’re here.”
They couldn’t see anything, but they could still use their hands. They pulled back the altar cloth made from black hair. Gao Ming touched the altar door. Indecipherable evil and darkness were etched onto the door. At that moment, a voice echoed in everyone’s heart.
“Have you ever witnessed the deepest darkness?”
