Chapter 46: Chapter 46: An Old Acquaintance
February 5th, 2019.
Through his connections with the Chinese Merchants in Manila, Yang Tiancheng finally received some good news.
Harry was currently vacationing on his private island in the Kalaqua Islands and probably wouldn’t be returning to Manila anytime soon.
This made Yang Tiancheng a little anxious. After all, he couldn’t stay in Luzon for long; there was still a mountain of work to deal with at his plantations in Borneo.
After weighing the pros and cons, Yang Tiancheng finally took the initiative and made the call.
"Hello...? Who is this?"
"Mr. Harry, this is Yang Tiancheng. We met once before at the Winford Casino Hotel," Yang Tiancheng said quickly.
"Oh? So it’s Mr. Yang. Are you still in Manila?"
"I am. Regarding the palm oil procurement Mr. Harry mentioned last time, I was wondering what your thoughts were. If we can settle on it, I can return to Malaysia as soon as possible to make preparations," Yang Tiancheng said, getting straight to the point.
The other end was silent for a moment.
"Mr. Yang, to be honest with you, while I do have a say in my family, some things can’t be decided by one person alone. You understand, don’t you?"
Yang Tiancheng’s tone grew more urgent. "I understand, I understand. But our company is sincere about working with you. Please, give me a chance."
"Is that so? Well then, wait until I’m back in Manila at the end of March. We can sit down and talk then."
Hearing this, Yang Tiancheng’s heart sank. The end of March was almost two months away. If Harry were to bail on him then, it would just make a bad situation worse.
In a flash of inspiration born from desperation, he said, "Is Mr. Harry too busy to get away? I can visit you in person. Please, give me a chance to cooperate."
"Since Mr. Yang is so sincere, I can’t be unreasonable. How about this? I’ll have someone arrange a plane. You can bring your people over to Dart Port."
"Okay! Here’s to our successful cooperation."
After hanging up, Yang Tiancheng clenched his fists, a faint smile appearing on his face.
That afternoon, after giving some instructions to Yang Changfeng, he took his assistant and bodyguard, and led by the people Harry had arranged, boarded a private jet to the airport in Dart Port.
After arriving at the small airport in Dart Port.
Yang Tiancheng and his group were then led onto a yacht.
Soon, they arrived at Harry’s private island. It had been a gift from Mad at the end of last year and was located not far from Kalaqua Island.
Standing on the pier, Yang Tiancheng could see a stone villa and a few wind turbines at the island’s highest point.
A middle-aged man who looked like a butler appeared on the pier. "Mr. Yang, please come with me. As for the others, they can rest here in the pier area."
Yang Tiancheng had no objection. It was a private island, after all, and not very large. There were no large, dangerous animals, so bringing a bodyguard was unnecessary.
Besides, he could tell Harry didn’t seem to like meeting with too many people, so he chose to go alone.
He got into a jeep and drove up the winding concrete road toward the villa on the summit.
As for the bodyguard and assistant who stayed behind, they were quickly pulled into a restaurant in the pier area by enthusiastic servants.
Seeing the table laden with large lobsters, sea urchins, abalone, sea cucumbers, roasted beef steak, grilled lamb chops, and top-shelf wine, the bodyguard and assistant completely forgot about Yang Tiancheng. They started chatting animatedly with the servants, feasting and drinking heartily.
Meanwhile, Yang Tiancheng, who had gone up to the summit villa, was led inside by the butler, completely unsuspecting.
When Yang Tiancheng saw Harry in the living room, he immediately walked over with a broad smile to greet him. "Mr. Harry, it’s a great honor to meet you."
The butler, however, quickly exited the living room, gently closing the main doors behind him.
With the living room doors closed, the place was transformed into a cage. Soundproofing material ensured no noise would escape, and there was also a special electromagnetic signal blocking layer to shield all wireless communications.
At the same time, several electromagnetic jamming devices on the island were quickly activated.
In the living room, Harry said with a smile, "Mr. Yang, I hear there’s a Huaxian idiom, ’attending a feast with a single blade.’ It seems you’re very courageous!"
"Heh heh... I just trust Mr. Harry," Yang Tiancheng said, thinking the other man was joking.
"Then I really must thank Mr. Yang for his trust." Harry’s smile grew even wider.
Just then.
The servants standing on either side of Harry slowly pushed aside the screen behind the sofa. Behind the screen was a large table made of golden-thread nanmu wood, where a figure sat on a wooden chair, nonchalantly sipping tea.
Seeing this, Yang Tiancheng subconsciously said, "Oh, Mr. Harry has another guest. I didn’t realize..."
Suddenly, Yang Tiancheng’s voice trailed off, and his pupils contracted sharply.
’How is he here?’
"It’s been a long time, Tiancheng." Li Qingye calmly set down his teacup.
GULP! Yang Tiancheng’s throat went dry.
’It really is him. How is this possible? What’s going on? Could it be that incident...’ As if he had thought of something, Yang Tiancheng’s expression changed slightly. He immediately stood up and said to Harry, "Mr. Harry, something urgent has come up. I must be leaving."
As he spoke, he surreptitiously slipped a hand into his pocket, unlocked his phone with his fingerprint, and prepared to dial for help.
"Why don’t you sit down and have a cup of tea?" Li Qingye poured a cup and then added, "I forgot to tell you, you can’t make calls from this room. You can put your phone away."
’Damn it!’ Yang Tiancheng’s face turned pale, and his voice trembled slightly as he asked, "Li Qingye, what do you want? A lot of people knew I was coming here."
At the same time, he turned his head and said with feigned composure, "Mr. Harry, you should think twice before you act! My Yang Family has quite a few friends in Luzon. If you let me leave, I’ll pretend today never happened."
"Tiancheng, who was involved in the murder of my parents and older brother all those years ago?" Li Qingye’s gaze, placid as an ancient well, bored into the other man’s eyes.
A chill running down his spine under that stare, Yang Tiancheng knew he absolutely could not admit to it. He immediately started playing dumb. "Qingye, what nonsense are you talking about? I don’t understand what you’re saying."
But he didn’t know that Li Qingye, augmented by his super-brain, had observational skills so sharp it was as if he could see right through a person’s heart.
And Yang Tiancheng’s clumsy attempt to cover his tracks all but wrote his thoughts on his face.
"It seems you know quite a lot."
Yang Tiancheng continued to deny everything. "Know what? I don’t understand what you’re talking about. This is ridiculous! Let me go, or my father won’t let you off!"
"It doesn’t matter. As long as it’s confirmed that you know, that’s enough." The coldness in Li Qingye’s eyes was almost palpable.
Harry, standing to the side, was seeing this kind of look from Li Qingye for the first time, and a chill crept up from the bottom of his heart.
Seeing that the situation was dire, Yang Tiancheng grabbed a vase by the door and rushed toward Harry, who was closest.
But before he could even get close, the Soldiers, who had been lying in wait, instantly drew a Taser and a tranquilizer gun, dropping Yang Tiancheng to the floor where he twitched uncontrollably.
"Take him to the basement," Li Qingye said with a wave of his hand.
"Yes, sir." The Soldiers immediately bound Yang Tiancheng and lifted him onto a stretcher.
Harry took the phone that had been confiscated from Yang Tiancheng and instructed the butler to call the pier area. He was to tell Yang Tiancheng’s assistant that Yang Tiancheng would be staying for a week and that they should relax and enjoy themselves in the pier area for a few days.
Then, the Soldier disguised as the butler carefully mimicked Yang Tiancheng’s voice and tone.
A dozen or so minutes later, the "butler" used Yang Tiancheng’s phone to call his assistant. He said that Harry hadn’t agreed to sign the contract yet, and he needed to stay on the island for a week to try and convince him.
With these two calls, the assistant and the bodyguards had no suspicions and settled in to eat, drink, and have fun in the pier area.
