" Oh, I knew you would show up soon." Daniel was waiting for him downstairs.

Samuel stumbled a little not knowing what to say. He did apologize but maybe his uncle was still upset that he tried to imply he was behind the attack on Kate and Bella.
"Uncle, I am sorry-" He was about to bow, but Daniel held it up, patted his head, and smiled before saying, "I know you did not mean to say it. It is nice that you are thinking about all the angles, but in the future, just remember that no matter what people call me, I would never try to harm you or anyone in this family, including people closest to you, and if I did, they must have done something to deserve such a punishment because nothing is absolute in this world."
"Thank you for everything."
"Kid, I am not dying yet. Follow; I know what you need. The whole city is a mess, and I think I know who is the cause of everything." Daniel gave him a stern look before walking inside. Samuel followed suit, fully knowing that his uncle must have figured out he had something to do with Clarkās disappearance.
There was no other reason other than Robert Green using his resources to hunt down the people behind the scene. What Samuel didnāt expect that they would get to Kate and Bella this soon. It was understandable given that both of his sons were incapacitated, calling the future of his entire empire into question.
Many people were surprised to meet Samuel as they arrived at Danielās workplace. It was unexpected that he was here alone, even though they were still looking for him. Although many were aware of the reason, others were kept in suspense, but they were unable to approach him or Daniel because of the intense aura around them.
" Here. I have a file on the people who did it, but itās pretty thin, which speaks for their reputation. Some say that there is only one person behind the group, and he or she would recruit new people for each job, instructing them from afar while keeping their hands clean, but thatās not how the group started. The mastermind seemed to be a competent person before adopting thisāsafeā approach."
"Do they have any affiliation with the Green family?"
"As far as I could find, no. This time, it is said that the bounty is huge enough for groups like these to come out of slumber to get the piece of the pie." Daniel seemed confident in his assessment. He had been hunting these special groups for decades; there was a whole room filled with various information regarding different dangerous factions around the world and also the first-hand account whenever the Rothschild family had a run-in with them.
It was a strange read but it told a lot about how different countries had various type of underground network making each encounter unique to the region.
"This doesnāt even have a single description. Do we even know where this group generally operates?"
"Nothing specific. As I said, the money is enough to make them jump out of hiding. When you find them, maybe you can write a detailed report and add it to the familyās collection," Daniel said with a smirk.
All Samuel could do was smile at him sourly. Daniel was able to narrow it down to them because the file only had one page and it was a thorough examination of some of their alleged operations, but it was very likely that someone else was behind the attack. He wouldnāt know for sure until they met in person, but it might have been a bunch of these people working together.
"Thanks, I guess."
"I heard you operated on someone? Should I list medical knowledge in your list of skills? I donāt even know when you learn such things."
"Itās a long story. I thought I would do something nice for them, as they protected them while harming themselves. Beside, I also wanted to test the secret basement of the house."
"Ah, right. The basement, I was skeptical, but now I know why you built it like that. You know, you have to answer a lot to your parents when this cools down, right? I would have to tell them everything, including this."
"I know, but that could wait. I have to show you something first." Samuel knew it was his time to show his hands. Maybe it was better for him to include his uncle in everything this time.
He handed him the small flask containing the suspicious, tiny black object. Just like Samuel, Daniel also had a bad feeling about the object as soon as he laid his eyes on it. But his eyes didnāt just catch the object but the special container that it was enclosed in. He knew what these were used for.
"Are you certain? You know what this means if this is what we think it is." Daniel stood up more alert than ever. Read latest stories on Freewebnovel
"I found it lodged inside the leg of the one that was shot during the mission, but I havenāt checked it because I donāt have that equipment at home."
"Letās go." Daniel tone was firm, as he too knew the seriousness of the matter.
They both went into the special section in charge of the security divisionās technological needs and handed over the flask to one of the employees to analyze. It barely took them ten minutes before they confirmed their suspicion.
"It was very well made. We have similar types, but this seems to be from the Russian Federation. I recognize the build as similar to what they use for their special units, but there are many differences, so I couldnāt be 100 percent sure. There are no obvious marks to indicate the maker, but considering that a bullet was used as a carrier,? I think there are only a handful of master craftsmen capable of replicating such a thing." The ātechnicianā gave his report.
Both thanked him before heading out of the unit. They had grim expressions on their faces because this symbolized something significant that neither of them were ready to take on. Samuel sighed for the umpteenth time today feeling completely drained, but he knew they needed to keep their guard up!
