Chapter 945: Chapter 751: Letting the Professor See the World

"What? You’re saying you want to take a leave of absence?"

In the office, Professor McGonagall looked at Kael, thinking for a moment that she’d misheard.

"Yes." Kael nodded and said, "About one or two months. During that time I’d like to be able to arrange my own schedule."

"This..." Professor McGonagall frowned and didn’t answer immediately. Instead she asked, "Does Professor Sprout know you want to take a leave?"

"She does." Kael said, "I went to Professor Sprout first. She agreed, but she could only agree to let me skip Herbology Class.

"And she also told me that if I want a long-term leave, I have to get the Headmaster’s signature."

"That’s indeed the rule." Professor McGonagall said.

"But Professor Dumbledore hasn’t been at school lately." Kael shrugged. "So I could only come here."

Because Dumbledore was too busy, most of the school’s affairs were handled by Professor McGonagall in her capacity as Deputy Headmistress. Signing something was naturally no problem.

"I can agree to your request." Professor McGonagall looked at the application form Kael handed over. She hesitated only for a moment before signing her name on it, and at the same time said:

"But I must remind you, even if you’re not attending classes, you’re not allowed to leave the school. To leave Hogwarts, a parent’s application is required; students can’t decide that on their own. There’s no room for negotiation on this point, no matter how good your grades are."

"Of course, I understand." Kael said. "I’ll stay in the castle, I won’t go anywhere."

Seeing Kael agree, Professor McGonagall returned the application to him, then casually asked,

"Can you tell me why?"

"Ah, I might be taking part in an important round of extra lessons during this period. My time’s a bit tight, so I can only give up regular classes."

"You said what?" Professor McGonagall suddenly looked up.

She had originally thought Kael just wanted to stay in the library until graduation; after all, that wasn’t uncommon at Hogwarts.

Many high-achieving students, once they reached the second half of seventh year, didn’t really care whether they attended class. Going to the library to review on their own was also a good option.

"Who’s going to tutor you?" Professor McGonagall asked instinctively. "Professor Dumbledore?"

In her view, only the Headmaster would be capable of tutoring Kael.

"No, it’s Rowena Ravenclaw."

In a very calm tone, Kael said something that nearly made Professor McGonagall jump up.

Because she was so agitated, she even snapped the feather Quill in her hand.

"You said... who?"

"Rowena Ravenclaw." Kael repeated, "Professor Dumbledore should have mentioned it—Ravenclaw’s Diadem is in the castle, and it carries a portion of her memories."

Professor McGonagall stiffly nodded.

Dumbledore had indeed said that in order to find that Diadem, several of the professors had almost turned the castle upside down, but still never managed to find it.

Because of this, differences had arisen among the professors. Some believed Dumbledore; others felt he’d gone dotty.

And while Professor McGonagall had never stated her position clearly, in her heart she leaned more toward the latter... at least, that was the case before she saw the Diadem.

"I met her yesterday." Kael went on, "I helped Lady Ravenclaw with a small matter. To thank me, she arranged this tutoring session."

Professor McGonagall took several deep breaths.

For a moment, she thought Kael had been hit with an advanced Confundus Charm.

A person from a thousand years ago not only came back to life, but was also going to tutor someone... no normal person could possibly say something so absurd.

But the person in front of her was Kael, and that made her waver a bit.

Because in Dumbledore’s story, the one who had brought Ravenclaw’s Diadem back to Hogwarts was Kael.

Professor McGonagall pressed her lips together tightly and asked, "Are you serious?"

"Of course." Kael said.

As for Rowena Ravenclaw setting up a "cram school" in the Room of Requirement, Kael had no intention of hiding it from others, especially the Hogwarts professors.

Everyone shared the same goal, and since Ravenclaw herself didn’t mind, why should he keep it secret? There was no need.

Of course, this was limited to the professors; as for the students, forget it.

Mainly because there were too many people, and the tutoring content was mainly Magic Text. Across the whole school, there probably weren’t even fifty people who had taken Ancient Runes Class.

And among those fifty, almost all of them were only at the level where they could barely translate Runes. Even if they went, it’d be useless—at most, they’d just be touring Hogwarts as it was a thousand years ago.

And Ravenclaw had also said that the "cram school" would only last for a limited time. Kael didn’t want to waste that time on letting people come and gawk.

Seeing that Professor McGonagall was still somewhat doubtful, Kael said bluntly, "If you don’t believe me, I can take you to the place where the tutoring is being held."

"Very well."

Professor McGonagall stood up on the spot, but before she could walk out, she heard Kael continue:

"But not right now..."

"Why not?"

"Because the key isn’t on me, so I can’t get in at the moment." Kael spread his hands. "If you don’t mind, how about after dinner?"

With no other choice, Professor McGonagall could only agree.

After Kael left the office, Professor McGonagall found she simply couldn’t concentrate on the pile of homework in front of her. In the end, she pushed it aside altogether, stood up, and walked toward the Headmaster’s Office.

Although she knew it was unlikely that Dumbledore would be back, Professor McGonagall still wanted to try her luck.
