Chapter 930: Chapter 746: The Lucky Gryffindor
By the time Kael came out of the Headmaster’s Office, it was already afternoon. The weather was still gloomy, and the continuous rain showed no signs of stopping.
Kael stood for a while in the corridor on the eighth floor, staring blankly at the curtain-like rain outside.
He was curious about what exactly transpired between Dumbledore and Snape. Was it because of Malfoy’s recent behavior?
Or was it related to Conna, or perhaps... Snape was tired of his dual role as a double agent at Hogwarts and among the Death Eaters, yearning for a normal life?
All these possibilities exist.
But regardless of which it was, one thing was certain: he did not have Dumbledore’s support. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be so furious with each other.
However, Kael guessed it was likely about Malfoy. After all, he was causing the most commotion at the moment...
As for Conna... to be honest, unless Dumbledore wanted her to join the Order of Phoenix and Snape vehemently refused, she could completely decide other matters on her own.
Moreover, Kael didn’t think Dumbledore would insist on having a newly graduated witch join the Order of Phoenix, nor was there any need.
As for returning to the life of an ordinary wizard... until Voldemort’s threat was thoroughly resolved, this might only be Snape’s pipe dream, something he could only imagine.
"Draco Malfoy..." Kael murmured to himself.
At this moment, a group of first-year young wizards came chasing each other up the stairs, the noisy playful sounds bringing Kael back to his senses.
Perhaps they didn’t expect a seventh-year student to be standing there, the young wizards were startled and stopped in their tracks.
Out of fear, a boy even dropped the Quidditch player model he was holding on the ground.
"Don’t be afraid, I’m not Filch. I won’t deduct points just because you’re talking loudly in the corridor," Kael said, and pointed at the broken model with his hand.
"Reparo."
"...Thank you." The boy’s face flushed with excitement, as if he had witnessed some remarkable magic.
To be fair, in the eyes of first-year new students, especially those from Muggle backgrounds, using a Repairing Charm without a wand indeed counted as remarkable magic.
With this little uproar, Kael didn’t think further. After leaving the eighth floor, he went straight back to the Hufflepuff Common Room.
Although Kael always felt like there was something else he hadn’t mentioned to Dumbledore, he only paused slightly before continuing down the stairs.
Never mind, it probably wasn’t important.
...
Because not many people knew, the news about Slughorn and Ron being affected by the love potion hadn’t spread, and everyone acted the same as before.
Dumbledore had left the school again. As Death Eaters’ activities became more frequent, he had become increasingly busy recently.
But none of this seemed to concern Hogwarts; under the professors’ efforts, there was no sense of danger in Hogwarts at all, and everyone’s attention was entirely on the next day’s Quidditch match.
This time it was a match between Gryffindor and Slytherin, classic rivals.
Although Harry had a Firebolt, Gryffindor’s support wasn’t as high as expected, since they were down a key player and their Beaters’ poor performance in the last match.
Most people were still optimistic about Slytherin. Even though the quality of their new players hadn’t been great in the past two years, their performance was stable, and their three Chasers were all veterans with over three years of experience, working seamlessly together.
Moreover, importantly, they were all quite large, like a wrestling team. Sometimes a strong physique could be an advantage.
On the morning of the match, Kael and Conna went to the auditorium for breakfast.
As soon as they entered, they saw two opposing groups... it wasn’t Harry and Malfoy this time, but Ron and Slytherin Chaser, Vaisey.
"What happened?" Kael asked in a low voice.
"Oh, it’s just that Slytherin’s Weasley Song," Ryan, who had arrived ahead of them, said. "Harper was organizing a sing-along, and they happened to run into it."
The ’Weasley Song’ was a song mocking Ron, meant to mess with his mentality. The lyrics changed monthly, but invariably had something to do with Ron.
Since last year, Slytherin had sung it several times whenever there was a Gryffindor match, and it worked particularly well.
Whenever Ron got nervous, he’d become a complete disaster, constantly dropping the ball.
Slytherin was probably hoping to weaken Gryffindor’s strength the same way this time.
However... today’s situation was a bit different from what they had expected.
Just as Ryan finished speaking, Kael saw that Crabbe in the crowd staggered as if he’d slipped on something, crashing heavily into the person in front of him.
That person then bumped into another person.
Now, things quickly spun out of Kael’s comprehension.
Even though only one person had fallen, the clustered Slytherins were knocked over one after another.
In almost the blink of an eye, they were all lying on the ground, tangled with each other, letting out cries of pain.
Vaisey ended up at the bottom, his face almost turning purple, waving his arms frantically, trying to push the others off him.
Witnessing this, Ron laughed out loud.
"Weren’t you just singing happily? Why have you stopped..."
