Chapter 805: Chapter 704: Ambush—Death Eaters and Fire Dragon

On the last day of July, after a whole morning without any bounty, Kael and Cedric decided to call off their mission to hunt Dementors for the time being.

Since the Daily Prophet published the article about the bounty, most of the Dementors roaming outside suddenly vanished.

Of course, this doesn’t mean they turned into Galleons... A hundred Galleons is tempting, but there were not many wizards who could kill Dementors, and not that quickly either.

Kael guessed that most of the missing Dementors were likely hiding, since the Death Eaters read the newspaper too.

Now that Dementors have turned from feared calamities into lucrative Galleons, Voldemort certainly wouldn’t just sit back and watch his trusty aides be decimated.

But this was also a good thing, at least now there was no worry about Muggles getting caught in the crossfire.

And with the Dementors hidden away, it would also be easier to capture them all in one sweep; the only problem now was finding their exact location.

However, that would be Dumbledore’s concern.

After coming to a decision, Kael and Cedric got ready to head back, but before that, they needed to check one last address in the booklet.

This address came up just minutes ago; apparently, someone spotted Dementors and reported them to the Ministry of Magic.

They’d been busy for several days anyway, what’s one more?

"Do you think someone else might have arrived first this time?" Cedric asked.

"Who knows," Kael said. "But this address just popped up, so there probably isn’t anyone there yet."

"Finally, it’s over..." Cedric rubbed his forehead. "Not that it matters, you have to give me a three-day break this time when we get back."

"Don’t you like flying?" Kael chuckled. "Quidditch matches lasting a week are pretty common, you won’t make it as a professional player like this."

"That’s different!" Cedric said irritably. "There are no Dementors to worry about on the Quidditch Pitch."

"True enough..." Kael shrugged, "But it’s not up to me whether you get a holiday or not."

"Either way, I won’t accept a cut in my salary this month," Cedric said defiantly.

Kael was a bit taken aback, it was hard to believe those words came from Cedric...

"Holidays aren’t the point..." Kael glanced at him, "Try not to hang around Fred and George too much, don’t pick up their lazy, cunning habits."

"They’re far worse than you," Cedric muttered.

The duo soon arrived in Hampshire, but after flying around the given location for half an hour, they found no sign of Dementors. Instead, they saw three wizards hovering above a forest.

Two men and a woman were also riding broomsticks, with a large, locked chest beside them.

Before they could approach, Kael overheard their excited chatter.

"A live Dementor fetches two hundred Galleons, we’re in luck."

"Yeah, who would’ve thought these creatures would become so valuable..."

"Shame there’s only one, or we’d really hit the jackpot..."

No doubt, the chest contained a Dementor.

"Looks like someone beat us to it," Cedric said softly. "I didn’t expect anyone could actually capture a Dementor alive, they’re quite skilled."

Kael nodded. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

Facing a dangerous creature like a Dementor, capturing it was far trickier than killing it, as every breath from a Dementor severely weakened a wizard’s combat ability... unless multiple Guardian Gods surrounded it.

There were three of them, they must’ve used this method.

Kael glanced at the trio who were chatting and laughing, then turned away with no intention of greeting them, aligning with Cedric to head back to the Ministry of Magic.

But just then, a Bowtruckle suddenly emerged from Kael’s collar, poking him sharply in the neck with its pointed fingers.

Almost instinctively, Kael changed the direction of the broom, colliding with Cedric next to him.

The suddenness of the incident nearly caused unprepared Cedric to fall off his broom.

"Kael, what are you..." Cedric began to say, but then saw three spells shoot past where Kael had been.

No further explanation was needed.

"Wait!" Cedric instinctively lifted the Disillusionment Charm, looking toward those three not far away, "We were just passing by, we mean no harm, and won’t take your Dementor..."

"Get rid of the extra one!"

Before he could finish the sentence, another three spells flew their way.

Although Cedric dodged as best as he could, one spell still hit his broom.

The tail of the broom emitted black smoke, wobbling and sending Cedric plummeting below.

Kael was about to reach for him when a spell blocked his path, forcing him to change direction.

"I can’t believe you dodged that..." among the three, a bearded wizard said, "Guess you really are the Triwizard Tournament champion."

"You know me?" Kael swiftly glanced downward, feeling a bit relieved to see Cedric had drawn his wand mid-air.

"Of course, you’re quite valuable now," said the other bearded wizard, a glint of greed in his eyes. "The Dark Lord promised unparalleled honor and the richest reward to whoever could kill you."
