Chapter 662: Strange Mental State
— — — — — —
"You are a Legendary wizard now?"
Even though the two were sitting in the same private room, Grindelwald had already started chatting through the study space.
"I honestly don’t know." Tom’s projection inside the space shook his head.
Grindelwald froze.
What the hell did he mean by "don’t know"? Either he had succeeded or he hadn’t. There was no in-between.
Couldn’t he just check that damn system of his and get a straight answer?
"Don’t look at me like that."
Meeting Grindelwald’s bizarre, speechless stare, Tom sighed and shook his head. "You and I are different. A normal wizard like you just needs to steadily improve step by step."
"But I have a lot more to consider. My talent is too strong, and I’ve got too many abilities. I can’t just let them go to waste, can I? Legendary or whatever... it’s not like there’s anyone in this world I can’t beat."
He let out a faint sigh. "One day, I suppose..."
Then he waved a hand dismissively. "Never mind. You will never understand this feeling of invincibility anyway."
Bang!
Inside the study space, Grindelwald’s projection exploded on the spot.
Back in reality, old Grindey closed his eyes and took a long, deep breath.
It was honestly hard for him to believe those words had come out of a human mouth.
The old Tom used to disgust them pretty often, sure, but never like this.
And the worst part? This time Andros wasn’t around. Grindelwald was the only one taking the emotional damage.
...
Tom shook his head, genuinely baffled by Grindelwald’s fragile mental resilience. He’d only spoken a few simple truths.
The thing was, it wasn’t that Tom himself didn’t know what level he was at. Even his cheat-like system couldn’t give him an accurate answer anymore.
[Host: Tom Riddle]
[Class: Wizard]
[Life Essence: 67]
[Talents: Fire Dragon Bloodline, Ancient Phoenix Bloodline, Divine Power, Dreak Body, Magic Vision, Mystic Eyes of Petrification, Power of Time, Fairy Bloodline...]
[Mana: Quantity has long since lost all meaning.]
[Magic Item: Hakuna Matata (partially unsealed)]
[Bloodline: Primogenitor, 22%]
Every time Tom looked at that evaluation screen, he felt irritated.
Sure, it sounded impressive, but couldn’t the damn thing actually give him a proper level?
He didn’t know why there wasn’t one. The system used to provide clear evaluations before. But at some point, the final category had simply disappeared, replaced instead with "Bloodline."
As for what "Primogenitor" meant, Tom understood that part perfectly well.
His talents were no longer tied to simple abilities. They had become part of him—innate gifts in their own right. As he continued to delve deeper into his potential, those strange bloodlines and talents had already begun showing signs of fusion.
Most likely, reaching one hundred percent meant the fusion would be complete, forming a fully stabilized new bloodline.
Actually... there was still a way to determine his exact level of strength.
As long as Ravenclaw was willing to cooperate, things would become much simpler.
But over the past two days, Ravenclaw had suddenly vanished.
Tom couldn’t tell whether she had genuinely delved deep into some research... or whether she was deliberately hiding from him.
Either way, if she still refused to come out after a month, he was going in after her himself.
...
Pulling his thoughts back to the present, Tom glanced at the still-depressed Grindelwald before returning his attention to the match.
After the initial caution and confusion, the players on the field had gradually adapted to the atmosphere of the Rift and finally started getting into the flow of the game.
The smarter ones had already figured out this was fundamentally a tower-pushing game. Fighting the enemy team was only a means to make taking towers easier.
Of course, where there were smart people... there were also people who absolutely were not.
For example... Hogwarts young lady over here.
Daphne was having the time of her life.
She smacked an enemy goblin on the left, then turned around and hit one of her own goblins on the right.
No particular reason.
She just thought the dumb-looking little things had faces that practically begged to be punched.
And naturally, she hadn’t forgotten about Ariana on the opposite side either.
Relying on her enormous magical reserves and ridiculous stamina, boosted by a stack of potions and magically engraved circuits, Daphne played with reckless enthusiasm, leaving Ariana caught somewhere between laughter and exasperation.
At the same time, Ariana couldn’t help feeling a little envious.
Daphne was the same age Ariana had been when she died. But their lives had been completely different.
Back then, Ariana hadn’t even dared leave the house. She lived every day trapped in fear, guilt, and cowardice.
Meanwhile, Daphne ran around carefree and empty-headed, with a mental age rapidly approaching Gabrielle’s...
Really, fate treated people differently.
That subtle sense of imbalance made Ariana unconsciously hit a little harder than usual. A spell pierced straight through Daphne’s Shield Charm and knocked her flat onto her backside.
"Ow!"
The young lady glared furiously across the lane.
"Ariana, I’m mad!"
"Then come hit me~" Ariana grinned and crooked a finger at her in challenge.
...
Down in the bottom lane, Fleur had finally saved enough gold. Seeing Kamio still enthusiastically beating up her goblins, she hurried back to base to buy an unsealing scroll.
"...What exactly is this thing?"
Fleur stared at the bizarre creature in front of her and fell into deep thought.
It wasn’t quite a frog. Wasn’t quite a dog either.
And it was carrying both a shield and a sword.
At first glance it looked weird as hell, but after staring into its strangely "wise" little eyes for a few seconds... it somehow became kind of cute.
Right now, Fleur was genuinely worried about Tom’s mental state.
Just what kind of mindset did someone need to design a thing like this?
Still, the match was ongoing, so she didn’t dwell on it for long.
After casually rubbing the dog’s head, she pressed her bracelet against it.
Immediately, the seal on her wand weakened dramatically.
She tested her magic for a moment and found that her strength really had increased quite a bit. After casting a Feather-light charm on herself, she quickly rushed back toward the minion wave.
...
Meanwhile, after leveling up, Kamio finally unlocked the Tamamo-no-Mae clan’s projectile spell. Her wave-clearing speed instantly improved, letting her save enough money to return to base as well.
"Ahh, you’re so cute!"
Kamio scooped up the tiny penguin creature with sparkling eyes and happily rubbed her face against it.
Then, under Tom’s utterly baffled stare, after buying her equipment... She simply carried the little penguin in her arms and sprinted straight out of the base at full speed.
