The moonlight congealed into a pale frost above the Forbidden Forest.
Piercing through the dark clouds.
Shining into the eternally dim depths of the Forbidden Forest. In the clearing before the Bronze Gate, the storm of magic raged wildly, with two figures colliding at speeds beyond human limits.
The air was filled with the scent of flames and decay.
Each clash of magic caused subtle cracks in the space.
"Kneel! Submit to me! And then let me take your place!"
Before the last word was out.
A blinding purple light shot out from the tip of the Old Wizard's staff. Ririm deftly sidestepped, and the ground where he had stood was instantly corroded into a massive pit.
The edges were exuding a strange black smoke.
This was evidently an ancient magic spell, different from the mainstream ones today. Most modern wizards found it unfamiliar, but as the Wizard King, "Ririm" couldn't possibly not recognize it.
After all.
The person opposite him was another version of himself.
Or perhaps not him.
He had never been able to figure it out.
"Starting off with 'Touch of Decay'?" Ririm whistled, "Seems like you really are me, a me that has taken another path—such cruel intentions indeed."
Ririm's tone carried a hint of reflection.
The Old Wizard didn't reply, raising both hands above his head, chanting an obscure spell. The sky suddenly darkened as clouds gathered at a visible speed.
Lightning could vaguely be seen traversing the clouds.
"Thunder of Celestial Punishment? Such a cliché." Ririm smirked, drawing a perfect circle with his wand in front of him. Countless tiny golden runes formed a semi-transparent barrier in the air.
Almost simultaneously.
Thick bolts of lightning struck down, illuminating the entire Forbidden Forest as if it were daylight; yet such a terrifying feat was refracted in all directions the moment it touched the golden barrier. The surrounding ancient trees suffered, with hundreds of century-old trees reduced to charcoal in the flash.
A scene of desolation.
Ririm and this self-proclaimed "King of All Worlds" Old Wizard were locked in an intense battle, their every clash triggering heavens and earth to shake, with thunder, flames, and space fissures intertwining, uprooting the surrounding trees, and leaving deep trenches on the ground. Yet everything seemed to be confined by some mysterious force within this strange domain.
The outside world remained intact.
After a round of confrontation.
"Is that all you've got?" Ririm stood still, as if he were a god bathed in golden light, and everything from the outside world was nothing but smoke to him.
"This is just the beginning, you lucky fellow, you have no idea how powerful I am!" The Old Wizard suddenly raised his arm, chanting a cryptic spell.
Instantly, a purple line of fire condensed in the air, rushing straight at Ririm. That light carried destructive power, cracking the earth wherever it passed.
Everything turned to ash in an instant.
"Mirror Reflection."
Ririm lightly tapped the ground with his toe, his form retreating like a phantom. His left hand formed a peculiar dharma seal, drawing three silver arcs, and the raging purple line of fire reflected back upon the silver arcs.
The black fog barrier hastily raised by the Old Wizard sizzled as his own flames scorched it.
"Impressive skill."
The Wizard wiped away the blood mark on his cheek, abruptly flipping the scepter into a bone-made magic wand, plunging it into the ground. The next moment the soil surged like a living creature.
Countless thorn-covered vines emerged, each vine topped with a foul-smelling crimson flower.
"You even learned the forbidden technique of the Black Witch Sacrifice, no wonder you are the forsaken part of destiny." Upon seeing this, Ririm clicked his tongue in amazement, his palm bursting forth with galaxy-like wondrous light particles.
"My turn now."
He chuckled lightly.
Tens of thousands of light particles formed a torrent, vaporizing the konjac as they swept through. The remaining force collided with the Bronze Gate, causing the runes on the door to shine like daylight.
However, it couldn't cause any harm to the Bronze Gate.
This was within Ririm's expectations.
"Void Rip!" The Old Wizard roared, thrusting his palms forward to conjure a twisted space rift out of thin air, devouring towards Ririm like a beast hungry for flesh. Seeing this, Ririm unhesitatingly performed the Instant Teleportation Technique, his form flashing to appear a hundred meters away.
"Is that all you can do?"
The Old Wizard sneered mockingly.
Floating in mid-air and slowly descending, Ririm wasn't angered.
"Fall of the Stars!" He suddenly opened his eyes, his palm outstretched as dozens of dazzling light balls cascaded from the sky, with a burning aura of obliteration aimed at the Old Wizard.
"Just that."
The Old Wizard sneered, crossing his hands on his chest, chanting a defense spell.
A thick energy barrier instantly formed, blocking the falling light balls completely outside. However, at this moment, Ririm's silhouette stealthily appeared behind him.
"You focused too much on defense." Ririm murmured, gathering a ball of ghostly blue magic power in his right palm, he fiercely struck at his opponent's back.
"Ever heard of Magic and Martial Dual Cultivation?"
His attack was formidable.
Boom!!
The massive explosion swept through the area, the Old Wizard was blown away, crashing through several giant trees before barely steadying himself. He wiped the blood at the corner of his mouth, a hint of anger flashing in his eyes.
"Do you think that's enough to defeat me?" The Old Wizard sneered, raising both arms, the air around them began to twist violently, with shields of purple and black colors drifting around him.
