Chapter 432: Chapter 432: A Short Stay in Linjiang

"Dad, Mom," Xu Wuyi began, his voice a little lower than usual.

Father Xu looked up, and Mrs. Xu’s knitting needles paused.

"There’s something I want to discuss with you." Xu Wuyi sat up straight. "Things at the front line have gotten pretty tense lately, and I’m a bit worried... What do you think about leaving Red River for a while and staying in a bigger city?"

Mrs. Xu was stunned. "Leave Red River? Where would we go?"

"Xingjing, or Linjiang. Even Cloud Platform would work," Xu Wuyi said seriously. "Those places are all guarded by Grandmasters. Their defenses are strong—safer than Red River."

Father Xu set down his teacup, his brow furrowed slightly. "Is it that serious?"

"I’m just worried." Xu Wuyi didn’t mention the analyses from the forums or You Sicheng’s warning, not wanting to frighten his parents.

"But with war, you never know. Red River City is too small and its defenses are limited. If something unexpected really happened, I’m afraid I wouldn’t be able to react in time."

The ball of yarn in Mrs. Xu’s hands fell to the floor. She bent over to pick it up, her movements a little stiff. "Do we have to go?"

"You don’t have to, it’s just a suggestion," Xu Wuyi said, looking into his mother’s eyes. "I might be heading to the front line soon myself, and I won’t be able to look after things at home. If you’re in Linjiang or Xingjing, with the Qiao Family looking out for you, I’ll be able to rest easier."

"The Qiao Family?" Father Xu caught that detail sharply.

"Mhm," Xu Wuyi nodded. "I’m a member of the Dongjiang Battle Group now, and the Qiao Family is the family behind the Battle Group. I can ask them to help with arrangements, and they’ll ensure your safety."

The living room fell silent.

Only the sound of the dialogue between the male and female leads on the TV seemed particularly jarring.

Father Xu was quiet for a long time before he finally spoke slowly. "Do we have to go so far? The provincial capital, Linjiang, is good enough. Xingjing is too far."

Xu Wuyi relaxed internally. ’Dad’s agreed.’

"Linjiang is fine too," he said. "The Qiao Family has businesses in Linjiang, so arranging a place to live will be easy. Besides, the Dongjiang Province command headquarters is in Linjiang. If anything happens, I’ll be the first to know."

Mrs. Xu was still hesitant. "But... we’ve lived in Red River our whole lives. All our relatives and friends are here. We don’t know a soul in Linjiang..."

"Mom, it’s just for a little while," Xu Wuyi said softly. "Once the situation at the front line stabilizes, you can come back anytime. You don’t have to move everything, just bring the necessities."

Mrs. Xu looked at her husband, then at her son, and finally sighed. "I’ll do as you both say."

A warmth spread through Xu Wuyi’s heart.

He knew this wasn’t an easy decision for his parents.

Their generation was used to stability, used to putting down roots in one place. Now, because of a few words from their son, they had to leave the city they’d lived in for decades for a strange new place.

But they still chose to trust him.

"I’ll contact the Qiao Family tomorrow, then," Xu Wuyi said. "I’ll get it arranged as soon as possible."

...

「Two days later, at Red River City’s eastern airport.」

The three members of the Xu Family stood in the departure lounge. They didn’t have much luggage—just two suitcases and a backpack.

Mrs. Xu had insisted on bringing some of her homemade pickled vegetables and chili sauce, saying that at least they could have a taste of home in the new place.

Father Xu watched the flying vehicles taking off and landing outside the window, his expression complicated.

"I never thought I’d be moving because of something like this in my lifetime," he said in a low voice.

"Dad, I’m sorry," Xu Wuyi said.

"Don’t be silly." Father Xu turned and patted his son’s shoulder. "You’re a Martial Artist; you have your responsibilities. The best we can do is try not to hold you back."

An announcement came over the speakers, informing passengers heading to Linjiang that boarding had begun.

Mrs. Xu was worried but forced a smile. "Let’s go, we don’t want to miss our flight."

The three of them walked toward the boarding gate.

Xu Wuyi used a special priority lane. The Qiao Family had already made arrangements, so the process was quick. Ten minutes later, they were seated in business class on the flight to Linjiang.

The flying vehicle took off, and Red River City gradually shrank below, finally disappearing beneath the clouds.

Mrs. Xu kept looking out the window until there was nothing left to see, then finally pulled her gaze away.

"I wonder when we’ll be able to come back," she murmured.

"Soon," Xu Wuyi said.

He estimated it would be a year or so at most. If things went smoothly, they might be back in two or three months, treating it as just a vacation.

The flying vehicle flew smoothly through the clouds, and an hour and a half later, it landed at Linjiang City’s southern airport.

As he stepped out of the cabin, Xu Wuyi saw a middle-aged man in a dark gray suit standing at the exit. The man spotted him and came over to greet them.

"Mr. Xu, hello." The man walked over quickly and bowed slightly. "I am Qiao An, the Qiao Family’s Steward in Linjiang. The accommodations have been arranged, and the car is waiting outside."

"Thank you for the trouble," Xu Wuyi nodded.

Qiao An took their luggage and led the three of them to the parking lot. A black sedan was parked in a reserved space, its driver already waiting by the car.

After they got in the car, Qiao An gave a brief overview: "The residence is located in ’Yunhai Prefecture’ in Linjiang’s East District. It’s a residential area developed by the Qiao Family with a very high security level. The residents are all people of status. Daily necessities have been stocked, and if you need anything else, you can contact me at any time."

The car left the airport and got on the expressway to the city.

As the capital of Dongjiang Province, Linjiang was more than twice the size of Red River. Skyscrapers towered everywhere, traffic flowed like a river, and the neon signs of shops flickered on both sides of the street.

Mrs. Xu looked at the scenery outside, a bit reserved. "This place... it’s so lively."

"Linjiang is the provincial capital, so it’s naturally more prosperous," Qiao An said with a smile. "The environment around Yunhai Prefecture is very quiet, so it won’t be too noisy. It’s also not far from the Martial Arts Hall and the provincial command headquarters, which will be convenient for Mr. Xu’s future travels."

Half an hour later, the car drove into a tree-lined residential community.

Yunhai Prefecture’s architecture had a Chinese flair, with white walls, black-tiled roofs, and scattered gardens. There was ample space between each villa, ensuring excellent privacy.

The car stopped in front of a three-story villa.

"This is the place." Qiao An got out and opened the main gate. "It has three floors and five bedrooms. The basement has been converted into a Cultivation Room. There are yards in both the front and back, so you can plant some flowers and things if you like."

Xu Wuyi went inside to take a look.

The decor was exquisite but not overly extravagant. The furniture was all solid wood, with a simple and elegant style. The kitchen was fully equipped with cookware, and the refrigerator was already stocked with ingredients.

"It’s very good," Xu Wuyi said. "Thank you."

"You’re too kind," Qiao An replied, handing over a business card. "My contact information is on it. My phone is on 24/7."

"Additionally, the community has its own dedicated security team, all of them retired veterans with strength at Level 30 or higher. The Qiao Family also has hidden sentries on the perimeter, so you can rest assured of your safety."

Xu Wuyi took the card and thanked him again.

After Qiao An left, Mrs. Xu walked around the house, her expression finally relaxing a bit. "This house is really nice. It’s just so big, it’ll be a pain to clean."
