Chapter 430: Chapter 430: The Teaching Support Team
A user named "Battlefield Observer" posted a long analysis on the forum:
"The Celestial Wolf Civilization is employing a classic ’trading space for time’ tactic. They know they can’t win a direct confrontation, so they’re using these piecemeal attacks to try and scatter our forces and slow down our offensive."
"But I must remind everyone that once the war reaches a fever pitch, the Werewolf Race will likely resort to more extreme measures—for example, finding a way to attack the Federation’s home territory."
"This isn’t fearmongering. Historically, when Alien Race civilizations were pushed to the brink on the Star Realm Battlefield, there were at least three attempts to bypass the front lines and directly attack the Human Race’s rear."
"Although they were ultimately repelled, the casualties and panic they caused were very real."
Hundreds of replies followed the post.
Some were dismissive, believing the Federation’s home defense systems were impenetrable and couldn’t be breached by a few Werewolf Squads.
But others agreed, listing past cases of Alien Race raids where the casualty figures were shocking.
Xu Wuyi closed the forum, leaned back in his chair, and gazed out the window.
Sunlight streamed through the glass, casting long patches of light on the floor. From downstairs, he could hear the cheerful laughter of his neighbor’s children and the calls of a breakfast vendor.
Everything was so peaceful.
But a faint sense of unease gnawed at him.
The military would certainly have considered the issue of homeland defense; there was no doubt about that. But war was never just a theoretical exercise, and even the most perfect plan could have flaws.
The planar coordinates of the Federation’s home Star Origin Realm weren’t exactly a secret either. At the very least, the neighboring civilizations would definitely know them.
’Should I move my parents somewhere safer?’ The thought flashed through Xu Wuyi’s mind.
Capital Xingjing City was protected by a Grandmaster, and its defense Level was several tiers higher than a small city like Red River.
Or he could just send them to a military-controlled satellite city. They were under complete military administration, offering the highest level of security.
But on the other hand, the higher a city’s defense Level, the greater its importance, and the more likely it was to become a target.
And how would he convince his parents?
Just tell them, "Werewolves might be coming to attack"? That would only cause them unnecessary panic.
Besides, given his parents’ personalities, they would most likely refuse to leave the home they had lived in for decades.
Xu Wuyi rubbed the bridge of his nose.
This matter required careful consideration.
...
「Two days later.」
Xu Wuyi was at home studying the Fire Source Stone when his personal terminal suddenly vibrated.
It was a Battle Network communication request from Qiao Zhiyao.
Xu Wuyi accepted the call, and Qiao Zhiyao’s figure appeared on the light screen. She seemed to be in a training room; several Martial Artists could be seen sparring in the background.
"Senior Brother, I’m not bothering you, am I?" Qiao Zhiyao asked with a smile.
"No," Xu Wuyi said. "What’s up?"
"Two things," Qiao Zhiyao said, getting straight to the point. "First, the team of teachers the Qiao Family promised to send to Honghe First Middle School has arrived. They settled in at the school this morning. The one leading them is a retired veteran you should know."
Xu Wuyi’s heart skipped a beat. "Who?"
"You Sicheng, Elder You," Qiao Zhiyao said. "He requested it himself. The Qiao Family had originally arranged for a few young instructors, but after Elder You heard about it, he contacted us and said that since he was recuperating in the rear anyway, he might as well go to the school and teach something practical."
Xu Wuyi was silent for a few seconds.
You Sicheng.
The old veteran who had held the rear on the Celestial Wolf Four plane, nearly fighting to the death. Now, with his injuries not yet healed and his Realm having fallen, he chose to "contribute his remaining years" at an ordinary high school.
"And the second thing?" he asked.
"Second, this year’s Federation Youth Martial Arts Tournament has been moved up again," Qiao Zhiyao said. "It’s scheduled for early May, specifically May sixth."
She paused for a moment before adding, "Senior Brother, I’m aiming for the championship this year. You have to come and watch!"
Xu Wuyi smiled. "Okay, I’ll go if I have time."
The communication ended.
Xu Wuyi put away the Fire Source Stone, changed into casual clothes, said goodbye to his mother, and headed out toward Honghe First Middle School.
...
「Two in the afternoon, at the entrance of Honghe First Middle School.」
Xu Wuyi stood before the gate, looking at the slightly worn school sign, a complex mix of emotions welling up inside him.
Three years ago, he had walked out of this very place.
Back then, he was just a Martial Disciple with a Life Energy Level below 20, lost about the future, unsure how far he could go on the path of Martial Arts.
Now, he was an Innate Martial Artist who had been to the battlefield, killed a Priest, and held tens of thousands of military merits.
But standing before this gate, he suddenly felt as if he were still that ordinary student.
"Xu Wuyi?"
A familiar voice came from behind him.
Xu Wuyi turned and saw Teacher Wang Wenhai.
"Teacher Wang." Xu Wuyi nodded, happy to see him as well.
"It really is you!" Teacher Wang hurried over and clapped him hard on the shoulder. "Good kid! I heard you’re doing well at Star Martial? Already Innate?"
"I just broke through recently," Xu Wuyi said.
"Come on, come on, Principal Zhang is waiting for you in his office." Teacher Wang pulled him into the school. "And those new teachers sent by the Qiao Family, they just arrived this morning and are in a meeting."
Xu Wuyi was pulled through the familiar campus.
On the athletic field, a class was in the middle of P.E. Students were running laps and practicing their punches, their shouts echoing through the air. From the academic building came the clear sounds of students reading aloud and teachers giving lectures.
Everything was just as it had been back then.
But Xu Wuyi could sense something different in the air.
The auras of Martial Artists.
Not just one, but several. They weren’t strong, but they were solid. It had to be the new Martial Arts Teachers.
Third floor of the administration building, the principal’s office.
Teacher Wang knocked on the door, and Principal Zhang’s voice came from inside: "Come in."
They pushed the door open and entered. Five or six people were sitting in the office.
Principal Zhang, who was sitting behind his desk, immediately stood up when he saw Xu Wuyi, a smile spreading across his face. "Student Xu Wuyi, welcome back to your alma mater!"
"Principal Zhang." Xu Wuyi nodded in acknowledgment.
His gaze swept over the other people in the room.
There were two young male teachers, who looked to be around twenty-five or twenty-six, with auras around Level 28. They were likely the regular teaching staff sent by the Qiao Family.
A middle-aged female teacher, above Level 30, had a capable and sharp demeanor. She was a genuine Martial Artist.
Then, his gaze fell upon the figure by the window.
You Sicheng.
The old man was sitting in an armchair, wearing a faded gray jacket. His left sleeve was empty.
His complexion was better than when he was in the hospital, but you could still see the sickness on his face.
But his eyes were still just as bright.
"Xu the Youngster." You Sicheng spoke first, his voice hoarse but tinged with a smile. "Didn’t expect to run into you here."
"Elder You." Xu Wuyi walked up to him. "How is your health?"
"Can’t kill me that easily." You Sicheng waved his hand dismissively. "It’s just that my Realm isn’t coming back. I’m only around Level 35 now, but that’s more than enough to teach a few high school students."
