Chapter 417: Chapter 417: Enticement

He felt as if his body was being gripped by a giant, invisible hand. Every muscle and bone groaned under the unbearable pressure.

What was even more terrifying was that a scorching power erupted from within, furiously incinerating his Qi and Blood.

"What... is this..." the Close Combat Priest managed to force out, fear showing in his eyes for the first time.

Xu Wuyi didn’t answer.

He simply clenched his fist.

POP!

A bowl-sized bloody hole blasted open in the Close Combat Priest’s chest. Dark gold flames gushed out from the wound, instantly engulfing him.

Three seconds later, the flames dissipated, leaving only a pile of charred ash.

The Fire Priest’s pupils contracted sharply.

’A level-42 Close Combat Priest, dead in a single exchange? Without even a chance to fight back?’

’Flee!’ It was the only thought in the Fire Priest’s mind.

He turned without hesitation and charged deeper into the fortress. There was an emergency Teleportation Array there. If he could just activate it, he would survive.

But Xu Wuyi wasn’t going to give him that chance.

His Power of Heart Image had already locked onto the Fire Priest. The moment the Priest turned, a thought crossed Xu Wuyi’s mind.

The Fire Priest’s forward charge suddenly froze.

He looked down at his chest, where a wisp of dark gold flame had appeared at some unknown point. The flame was small and faint, yet it made all the blood in his body run cold.

He could feel that the flame had already fused with his heart. With just a thought from his opponent, his heart would explode, just like his companion’s had.

"Wait... I can..." the Fire Priest said with difficulty, trying to beg for mercy.

Xu Wuyi shook his head.

He raised his hand and made a simple sweeping gesture toward the Werewolf Warriors gathering deeper inside the fortress.

In the next instant, the heads of the forty-odd living Werewolf Warriors inside the fortress exploded simultaneously.

Blood rained down, staining the grayish-black stone floor a deep crimson.

The Fire Priest watched this scene, the last glimmer of light in his eyes completely extinguished. He knew he wouldn’t be leaving this place alive today.

"Who... who in the world are you?" he asked, using the last of his strength.

Xu Wuyi walked up to him and looked at him calmly.

His voice was soft, yet every word was clear. "Today, I’m just here to collect some interest."

The Fire Priest opened his mouth, wanting to say more.

But Xu Wuyi had no intention of listening.

With a thought, the dark gold flame on the Fire Priest’s chest abruptly expanded. The Flame erupted from within, instantly engulfing him.

Two seconds later, the flames dissipated, and another pile of ash lay on the ground.

A dead silence returned to the fortress.

Only the corpses and blood covering the ground proved that a massacre had just taken place here.

Xu Wuyi stood where he was, surveying his surroundings.

He didn’t leave immediately. Instead, he walked to the control room in the center of the fortress and found the communications device, which was still operational.

The device’s screen displayed several unsent emergency requests for reinforcements, addressed to Outpost Eight and Outpost Nine.

Xu Wuyi thought for a moment, deleted the messages, then edited a new one in the language of the Werewolf Race.

"Outpost Seven under attack. Single enemy, estimated combat power level 43. Requesting support. Come quickly!"

He clicked send.

The indicator light for a successful transmission lit up.

Xu Wuyi turned off the device and walked out of the control room.

He knew that once this message was sent, the Priests from the other two outposts would definitely come. The content of the message wasn’t what mattered; the timing was.

Only a few minutes had passed from the start of the attack to the end of the battle. The other two outposts would never immediately suspect it was a trap; they would just assume it was a normal raid.

Xu Wuyi walked out of the fortress, sat cross-legged on the scorched earth outside the walls, and began to regulate his breathing.

The recent battle had seemed easy, but in reality, he had expended a considerable amount of his Power of Heart Image. Simultaneously marking and killing over forty targets, even if they were just ordinary warriors, required precise control.

He needed to recover to his peak condition to face the coming battle.

「Twenty minutes later.」

Two powerful auras approached simultaneously, one from the northeast and one from the Southwest.

Xu Wuyi opened his eyes and slowly stood up.

The Priests from Outpost Eight and Outpost Nine had arrived.

...

From the northeast came a streak of cyan light, so fast it left an afterimage in the air. From the Southwest came a roiling black fog that froze the ground where it passed, leaving a trail of frost.

The two arrived at the outskirts of Outpost Seven at almost the same time, stopping three hundred meters away.

They saw Xu Wuyi sitting on the scorched earth, and they saw the corpses littering the fortress interior.

"Chaolu is dead?" The cyan light dissipated, revealing a slender Werewolf Priest. He wore cyan Bone Armor and held a long, thin bone sword, his eyes filled with shock and suspicion.

"Agula is dead, too." The black fog coalesced into a burly figure, his voice like two blocks of ice grinding against each other. "This human... something’s wrong with him."

Both were Priests, with Life Energy Levels above 42. They could sense that the aura emanating from Xu Wuyi wasn’t particularly strong, only around level 41.

’But this "ordinary" Innate had managed to kill Agula and Chaolu in such a short time, and even slaughter everyone in Outpost Seven?’

"Be careful," the cyan Priest said in a low voice. "He might be hiding his true strength."

The black Priest nodded, and both of them unleashed their spirit images at the same time.

The Werewolf Race’s spirit images were similar in nature to the Human Race’s Heart Images, but they were not as varied, consisting purely of wolf-like images.

A phantom wind wolf appeared behind the cyan Priest. Its wings spread, stirring up countless Wind Blades. Behind the black Priest, a phantom ice wolf appeared, its frigid aura causing a thick layer of frost to form on the ground.

One on the left and one on the right, they slowly closed in on Xu Wuyi.

Xu Wuyi remained seated, not even bothering to stand up.

When the two entered a hundred-meter range, he finally moved.

It wasn’t an attack. Instead, he took a dark red, round stone from his clothes—a Fire Source Stone.

He held the Fire Source Stone in his palm and slowly infused it with his Power of Heart Image. The surface of the round stone began to glow faintly, and the rhythm of the flame within it started to resonate with his Heart Image.

This scene made the two Priests pause for a moment.

"What is he doing?" the cyan Priest frowned.

"I don’t care what he’s doing, kill him!" the black Priest roared, taking the initiative to attack.

The phantom ice wolf threw its head back and roared, spewing a frosty breath more than two meters in diameter. The air froze in its path, and a thick layer of ice covered the ground as it swept toward Xu Wuyi.

Almost simultaneously, the cyan Priest also made his move.

The phantom wind wolf flapped its wings, and dozens of Wind Blades materialized in the air, slashing at Xu Wuyi from all angles. Each Wind Blade was sharp enough to slice through steel, cutting off all routes of escape.

But Xu Wuyi just lifted his head and glanced at the two of them.

Then he opened his hand, letting the Fire Source Stone float in front of him.

In his sea of consciousness, the Dark Gold Mountain Body Heart Image trembled violently, and the Golden Crow Illusion raised its head and let out a long cry. Power of Heart Image erupted like a volcano, pouring entirely into the Fire Source Stone.
