Chapter 861: Chapter 671: Young Master of the Ghost Snake Clan (Part 2)
His cold, gloomy gaze once again fell on Shen Li, and energy gathered in his palm once more.
"But you’re different, you’re not like those useless wastes, you’re a true genius!"
"Xin Rong is already a once-in-a-century talent, yet you’re this young and your Ten-tailed manifestation is actually more solid than his, and you’re even a descendant of the long-vanished Divine Fox Fire Clan!"
"As long as I devour your Crystal Core, I’ll not only break through to Ten-tailed, I’ll also gain the ability of the Destructive Fire!"
The old Clan Leader stared greedily at Shen Li. "You really are a gift from the heavens to this old man!"
Shen Tang listened till she almost wanted to puke.
Even a vicious tiger won’t eat its cubs, yet this old bastard, for his own selfish gain, not only harmed so many people, he could even lay hands on his own son.
Truly, when the upper beam is crooked the lower beam is slanted—no, that’s wrong, this old thing is even more vicious and shameless than that Xin Lian!
He’d long since lost all humanity; Shen Li, this complete stranger with no relation to him, was nothing but delivered fat meat in his eyes.
The Clan Leader ran out of patience and launched a ruthless assault at Shen Li, every move aimed straight for a vital spot.
By rights, after Shen Li drank the Clan Leader’s specially brewed poisoned tea, he shouldn’t be able to hold out long no matter how strong his will.
But as the fight dragged on, the Clan Leader slowly felt that something was off.
—So much time has passed, why hasn’t this fox gone down yet?
And somehow, Shen Li’s offensive was actually getting stronger and stronger, to the point that he was starting to feel pressure.
How is that possible?
Why does this fox look like nothing’s wrong with him?
The old Clan Leader suddenly realized something. His face turned instantly dark, and he stared fixedly at the red-haired youth opposite him, his voice squeezed out from between his teeth. "You didn’t drink that cup of poisoned tea?!"
Shen Li had come from the Imperial Palace after all; what schemes and conspiracies had he not seen? The Clan Leader’s little tricks weren’t worth mentioning in his eyes.
He smiled faintly. "Many thanks for that cup of tea, Clan Leader. It really was good tea... pity I couldn’t taste it, so I poured it out."
The old Clan Leader’s expression was extremely ugly. The fox he’d thought would be easy to handle actually had this kind of wariness!
His features twisted as he spat out his words viciously. "Even if you didn’t drink the poisoned tea, you’re doomed to die today!"
With that, he pulled out a red potion from who knows where and stabbed it fiercely into his own arm.
Instantly, that originally skinny, hunched body swelled a size, veins bulged, and the oppressive aura around him surged sharply.
Both sides knew exactly what this was: a berserk potion made from the blood of Blood Clan People, capable of greatly boosting one’s strength in a short time!
The potion was far from perfected, its side effects enormous—practically a life-burning drug.
But the old Clan Leader had only a few years left to live anyway; now, if he used it to kill Shen Li and seize his Crystal Core, he might just fight his way to a rebirth.
Today, he was determined to see this fox dead!
Yet there wasn’t the slightest hint of panic on Shen Li’s face. His expression was so calm it was like he was talking to the air. "Xiao Tang’er, did you get the recording?"
A small doll floated out from his collar, holding something that looked like a recording device. "Relax, every word this old bastard said is recorded crystal clear!"
The Clan Leader’s face changed drastically, dark enough to drip water. He hadn’t expected this fox to have such a backup plan.
But...
So what?
The fact that this fox dared to scheme against him would only make him die faster!
The old Clan Leader gathered all his power and condensed it into a sharp blade that tore through the air toward Shen Li.
Wherever the Wind Blade passed, the courtyard turned into ruins!
Yet just as the blade’s tip was about to touch the half-meter of space in front of Shen Li, it abruptly halted.
In that instant, time seemed to freeze. The nine fiery red Fox Tails behind Shen Li unfurled like clouds, and countless tiny flames floated in the air, condensing into an invisible wall of fire that blocked the Wind Blade.
Shen Li lifted those long, fox-like, gorgeously narrow eyes and quietly looked at the Clan Leader’s hideously contorted face across from him.
The Clan Leader, who had originally looked in his fifties, was rapidly aging under the potion’s effects, now appearing more like a ferocious ghost.
The Clan Leader pressed even more energy into the blade, trying to break through the wall of fire. Just then, Shen Li suddenly clenched his palm.
Boom!
The fire wall shattered.
And in that split second, Shen Li stepped forward, blazing firelight surging out in an instant.
The Clan Leader was blasted several meters away by that tremendous force. When he struggled to his feet and saw the scene before him clearly, he froze on the spot, his face turning deathly pale.
He saw the red-haired, strikingly handsome youth stepping across a ground covered in flames, walking forward one step at a time. The heavy, powerful pressure crashed down like a tide, making one instinctively feel fear and submission.
There was none of Shen Li’s usual smile in those long fox eyes now, only a cold, icy chill.
And behind him, those nine enormous, slender Fox Tails flowed like drifting clouds, and at their center, a tenth tail—longer, more solid, even more breathtakingly beautiful—unfurled in a sweeping arc!
The ten Fox Tails formed a perfect and sacred halo, quietly suspended behind Shen Li. As he stepped out of the flames, he looked like a god descending to the mortal world.
