Chapter 826: Chapter 658: Found the Crystal Core! (3)
The old man thought he had outsmarted her, but little did he know, he was the one being played.
How could Shen Tang possibly betray Shou Jin? The two of them planned this act together; what she handed to Shou He was merely a puppet controlled by spiritual power.
One must admit, the Advanced puppets produced by the System are indeed excellent, not only looking identical to a real person but even replicating skin texture and flesh, blood, and all on a 1:1 scale.
She also had Shou Jin extract a drop of Essence Blood and place it inside the puppet to stain it with his aura.
She deliberately agreed to Shou He’s plan to stun Jin, as post-unconscious energy fluctuations would weaken... confusing Shou He for a short while posed no issue.
She even delivered a big ’gift’, placing a High-level Bomb from the System Mall in the puppet’s chest—even if it couldn’t kill that old man, it would give him a taste of suffering!
Shen Tang arrived on the 103rd underground level, releasing Shou Jin from the Space.
They once again saw that monster.
Without even getting close, just looking from afar, the terrifying and powerful aura made their bodies instinctively feel deep fear.
Shen Tang said in a low voice, "Quick strike, go all in on this one, if it doesn’t work, we’ll run. Shou He and the others are probably closing in."
Shou Jin’s entire body tensed, strands of Thunder entwining around him as if ready to burst into lightning at any moment. "I’ll distract it, you head straight through the door to find the Crystal Core."
"...Alright, take care." Shen Tang opened her mouth; they could only proceed this way now.
Jin smiled at her, a complex emotion in his smile. Without saying more, he suddenly charged in to battle with the monster.
Boom!
Rumble,
The entire Space shook as if on the brink of collapse.
Jin continued to approach, provoking the monster, his body quickly covered in scars.
The monster lacked much intelligence, instinctively retaliating like a creature, thus not realizing the man’s deliberate move to lead it further away from the door, providing Shen Tang an opportunity.
Seizing the moment, Shen Tang plastered several Concealing Talismans and Instant Teleportation Talismans on herself, also utilizing her Space Ability to swiftly approach the door, successfully entering.
Jin let out a breath of relief, thinking, once she found the Crystal Core, there’d be a chance to resurrect her Beast Husband.
By that time, she would leave, wouldn’t she?
The two of them would never meet again, and there would be no future.
Just then, chaotic sounds of attacks and footsteps echoed from above. Jin’s desolate face became severe; he knew Shou He and the others had arrived.
He was only one man, a pair of fists no match for many, probably not their match...
He absolutely couldn’t let them break through; otherwise, if Shen Tang were captured, it would be over.
Now the only way, perhaps...
Jin looked toward the monster clashing with him, a glint of resolve flickering in his deep, deathly still golden eyes, subsequently leading the monster towards the staircase.
Shou He and his group had just reached the final level when they felt the ground shake intensely beneath them as if the earth were about to crack open. Immediately following, a familiar slender figure rushed in.
"It’s Shou Jin!"
"Quick, capture him!"
Before they could revel in excitement, they abruptly noticed the hideously twisted, utterly non-biological behemoth behind the man, their expressions instantly changing.
What the hell is that thing?
Everyone paled in fright.
Shou He’s face changed drastically as well. Although he had collaborations with the laboratory, each side had private purposes, tied only by mutual interests, without complete knowledge of the laboratory’s details, much less expecting such a monster hidden on the final level!
Anyone with eyes could sense the terrifying power emanating from the monster’s body—not a single person present was its match!
Shou He gritted his teeth, shouting, "Close the defense doors! Retreat!"
They scrambled to retreat upward; every staircase had a defense door, initially set for emergencies like preventing experimental subjects’ escape.
While running, they hurried to shut the doors, but it was already too late.
The defense doors hadn’t fully closed when a heavy fist wrapped in thunder crashed down, instantly paralyzing the defense system.
Soon after, a slimy tentacle slid through the door crack, slamming into the defense door with a resounding boom, directly tearing it open.
"Ah!" Several beastmen unable to escape were swept away on the spot, only having time to let out a tragic cry, instantly swallowed by the monster, leaving no bones behind.
Many laboratory staff were present, frantically drawing out controllers to manage experimental subjects, but they seemed completely ineffective against this colossus.
More staff members were swallowed whole by the monster.
This monster was originally developed as a terrifying war weapon by the laboratory, but evidently, the laboratory hadn’t fully controlled it yet. It was both the ultimate trump card and an indiscriminate weapon; once started, everyone could die by its hand.
The Beastmen present were no match whatsoever, quickly falling into the monster’s mouth, nearly annihilated.
Shou He’s elite squad, within minutes, was reduced to only him left standing solitary.
His situation was dire as well, not only was his entire face ruined, but half his body was bitten off by the monster, emitting a shrill wail.
Yet amidst the cover by meat shields, he found a chance to escape, slipping away in an instant.
Jin intended to take advantage of the situation and finish him off, but saw the monster suddenly turning back along its original path, wanting to return. His face changed, ignoring all else, he continued to hold the monster’s attention, leading it toward another empty area away from the stairway.
Having consumed so many High-level Beastmen, the monster absorbed their power, becoming even stronger than before. Jin was about to reach his limit.
His power started losing control, his consciousness gradually turning murky. His last thought was, wondering if she secured the Crystal Core or successfully escaped...
...
On the other side, after Shen Tang passed through the door, she saw a glass container placed at the center of the laboratory, holding that transparent Crystal Core, emitting a long-lost familiar force.
Her body trembled slightly, tears welling up, rolling down in large droplets.
Xiao Jin’s Crystal Core.
She finally found it!
