Chapter 64: Chapter 64 Out of sight

Of course, that “no one else” including her boyfriend, whose whereabouts remained unknown.

However, the pair of men’s slippers on the shoe rack was an eyesore no matter how he looked at them. Those shoes weren’t his size. If he got the chance, he’d toss them in the trash, out of sight, out of mind.

Alana walked out of the kitchen carrying a glass of water. She walked over to Stephan and handed him the glass.

“Here you go. I only have plain water at home.”

Stephan glanced at the glass of plain water the girl handed him.

The girl seemed rather reluctant, offering it with just one hand.

Her rosy lips were slightly pursed, and she didn’t look at him, instead gazing sideways at the ceiling.

She looked as if she couldn’t care less about him.

Well, who would want to see him, an uninvited guest who showed up unannounced?!

Truth be told, he hadn’t seen her in a week and selfishly wanted to spend a little more time with her, which was why he’d thick-skinned enough to show up unannounced and ask for a drink of water.

But now that he’d successfully barged in, when he left was no longer up to her. Stephan reached out and took the water glass from Alana’s hand.

As he took it, he deliberately brushed against the back of her hand.

It tickled.

Alana couldn’t help but pull her fingers back. She bit her lip and glared at the man, her face flushing red at his malicious teasing.

Stephan raised an eyebrow, taking his time to savor the sight of her seething but unable to speak up.

He really enjoyed teasing her.

He loved seeing her completely preoccupied with him.

He didn’t like it when she ignored him.

He spoke slowly, “Has anyone else been staying here this week?”

Alana puffed out her cheeks, exasperated. “No, I live here alone.”

Stephan’s lips curved upward; he was thoroughly delighted.

Not bad, she’s quite the devoted wife.

He changed the subject. “So, is the phone I gave you working well?”

Alana furrowed her brow. Out of the blue, why was he suddenly asking about the phone? But the phone he’d given her was indeed excellent.

It was in a league of its own compared to phones that cost a few hundred dollars.

So, she nodded honestly, “It works well.”

Stephan snorted coldly, “If it’s so good, why haven’t you contacted me even once in a week?”

Not even once.

It made him keep staring at his phone late at night, hoping she might surprise him.

Why would I contact him?

It was as if they’re so close that he has to reach out.

Besides, hasn’t he contacted her either?

Alana didn’t want to answer his pointless question, so she blurted out, “Hurry up and drink. Once you’re done, get out of here.”

Great, she was shooing him away again.

Stephan took a leisurely sip of water.

As he drank, the bite mark on his lip stung slightly.

Thinking that this was the unique mark the woman had left on him, he felt a strange, faint sense of satisfaction.

He couldn’t help but pat the spot next to him, his deep voice tinged with a sense of

contentment.

“Stay and sit with me for a while.”

She didn’t want to deal with him.

Stephan set down his glass, reached out, and effortlessly grabbed the girl’s hand, pulling her into his embrace.

His large hand naturally wrapped around her slender waist. Looking at her startled face, he said with a straight face, “If you don’t want to sit next to me, then sit in my lap.”

In the blink of an eye, Alana found herself sitting on the man’s lap, held tightly in his arms:

She glared at him angrily, her almond-shaped eyes wide.

“Didn’t you say you’d leave after drinking some water?”

Stephan sighed. “I want to sit here for a while.”

Alana felt silly, she actually believed a word he said. She deserved to be completely fooled by him.

But she had no choice but to let him fool her in hopes that he might keep to his words at least once.

She clenched her teeth, her cheeks puffing out with anger.

The man was clearly pushing his luck, but she was powerless to stop him.

Stephan’s held the warm, delicate form in his arms, inhaling the sweet scent of her skin, and suddenly felt a wave of drowsiness wash over him.

He couldn’t resist burying his face in the crook of her neck and closing his eyes.

Alana couldn’t help but grow tense again, like a bird startled by a bowstring. “W-what are you doing?”

Sometimes she was absolutely terrified of him getting physical with her.

She had never been in a relationship before and didn’t know how boyfriends and girlfriends were supposed to interact.

Did all men act this way with their girlfriends, getting all handsy?

Besides, they weren’t even a couple.

Stephan had no idea what the girl was thinking; he just felt that holding her like this, leaning against her, was incredibly comfortable.

It was as if his entire body and mind were wrapped in soft, fragrant cotton candy, leaving him feeling completely at ease.

He let out a deep, nasal sound. “Hmm, I’m exhausted. I want to rest for a few minutes.”

Alana took a deep breath and said patiently, “If you want to rest, go home and rest. I don’t have room for you to rest here.”

The man’s chin rested on her shoulder, rubbing against it softly, just like a big golden retriever rubbing against its owner’s pant leg to get attention.

“Alana, I’ve been on a business trip for a week. I’ve been running around nonstop for days, and as soon as I got off the plane, I rushed over to see you.”

“I’ve been waiting for you downstairs for hours. I’m exhausted. Just let me rest in your arms for a bit, okay?”

Alana was taken aback.

So he’d been away on a business trip for the past week?

She had thought...that he’d found someone new.

And, he said he’d be away on a business trip for a few days, but he came to see her as soon as he got off the plane, and he’d even been waiting downstairs for her for hours?

For some reason, a strange sensation welled up inside her.

She couldn’t help but look down and saw the man’s face buried in her shoulder, his deep eyes slightly closed.
