Chapter 52: Chapter 52 Deep breath
Stephan replied with deadpan seriousness, “These strings...you can certainly afford them.”
Alana nodded. “Fine. What do you want?”
“Kiss me.”
Alana’s cheeks flushed uncontrollably at his shameless tone.
“Goodbye.” She turned and walked away.
But the man swiftly rose, grabbing her wrist.
He pulled her into his embrace, his large hand clasping her waist to prevent her escape.
His dark eyes fixed intently on her, his voice tinged with a hint of reproach.
“I served you all night last night. You’re feeling perfectly comfortable now, yet I can’t even ask for a kiss?”
“You...” She blushed intensely, wanting to push him away but finding herself utterly powerless. Moreover, her body, worn out from last night’s exertions, was still limp and hadn’t recovered.
He was truly formidable, five or six times in one night, each session lasting an eternity.
What woman could withstand his intensity?
Fearing he’d take pounce on her, Alana struggled.
“You...let go of me...”
“I need to hurry back to work...”
Stephan reluctantly loosened his embrace.
Her body was fragrant and soft, holding her was addictive.
He even wanted to bury his face in her neck and inhale deeply.
“I’ll drive you.”
“No, please don’t. I’ll just take a taxi...”
Stephan tightened his arms around her, burying his face in the delicate hollow of her neck to inhale deeply.
“Your phone’s broken. How will you hail a cab?”
Alana’s eyes widened. “How did you know my phone was broken?”
“I found it when I came looking for you. The screen was shattered all over the floor.”
As he spoke, he couldn’t resist taking another deep breath of the girl’s fragrant, delicate neck.
She gasped, “Ah, don’t come close to me like that, you’ll leave a mark...”
“Then I’ll switch to kissing.” With that, he leaned in and pressed his lips directly against hers.
Ever since last night’s incident, he no longer held back with her. If he wanted something, he took it.
*********
Alana arrived at the office.
Carla saw her take her seat and immediately stood up to ask, “Alana, where did you go last night?”
“I was gone just long enough to sing a song, and you vanished. I messaged you, but you didn’t reply.”
Alana was just opening her laptop when she heard this. She gave an apologetic smile. "Sorry, I went home last night. I meant to tell you, but you were so engrossed in singing, I didn’t want to disturb you. As for not replying to your messages, my phone broke.“
Carla nodded. ”Oh, I see.“
“It’s fine. Just glad you got home safely. By the way, Manager Dane isn’t at the office today. I heard he got beaten up last night, knocked unconscious and hospitalized. Someone saw him beaten to a pulp, black eyes, blood all over his mouth, a few teeth knocked out. He wasn’t even wearing a shirt when the medics carried him onto the ambulance.”
“Who knows who he crossed to get beaten that badly? He probably won’t be back at the office for at least a couple weeks.”
Alana remained silent, but hearing Carla’s words gave her a sense of satisfaction.
Deep down, she hoped Dane would never return to the company.
**********
Vera had just stepped out of the restroom when, before she could react, a hard slap struck her face.
The sharp smack instantly left half her cheek swollen.
Clasping her face, Vera stared wide-eyed at the person who had suddenly appeared before her.
“Alana, what the hell are you doing? Why did you hit me?”
Alana sneered coldly. “Why did I hit you? Isn’t it obvious? Last night, did you slip something into the drinks?”
Vera’s eyes darted nervously. “I... I didn’t slip anything in. Don’t accuse me falsely...”
She already knew what had happened to Dane.
She’d heard he’d been beaten badly and ended up in the hospital operating room.
She knew clearly that last night, it was Dane who had taken Alana away.
Dane got beaten, but Alana seemed completely unscathed. Could it be that someone had helped Alana?
She didn’t know who helped Alana, but she didn’t want to get involved.
Alana’s eyes darkened as she fixed Vera with a warning stare. “Vera, it doesn’t matter if you deny it. I know you did it. You saw what happened to Dane. If you don’t want to end up like him, give me a wide berth from now on. Otherwise, his fate will be yours!”
Vera bit her lip hard, fear flashing in her eyes.
Clearly, she believed Alana’s words.
Seeing Vera’s fear, Alana sneered coldly once more, shoved past her, and strode away.
***********
Stephan dropped Alana off at her company building before driving to his own company.
Upon arriving, he summoned his assistant.
“Investigate this man.”
“I want his entire dossier, every detail.”
Stephan handed his ID badge to the assistant.
Vance glanced at the photo on the badge, puzzled. “He’s not from our company. Why are you investigating him, President?”
‘And he’s so old, so fat, so ugly! Don’t tell me the President was interested in this kind of old, fat, ugly man?!’ Vance thought.
Stephan frowned. “I told you to investigate. Why all the questions?”
Vance swallowed.
Alright, the president’s tastes were incredibly unique. He might not understand them, but he respected them.
Stephan specifically added, “Hurry up. I need it before the end of today.”
Vance blinked, nodded in agreement, and left to handle the task.
Stephan glanced at his work and couldn’t help but touch his phone.
That woman... her phone was broken.
What to do? He not only wanted to buy her a dress but was even thinking about getting her a new phone.
He pinched the bridge of his nose.
He felt like he was having one of his episodes again.
*******
Alana finished her day’s work and clocked out promptly at quitting time.
Her phone was broken, so she planned to buy a new one at the cell phone store.
Without a phone in hand, she felt like she couldn’t manage her life for a single day. She must try to get a cheap one.
There was a phone store near the company, only about five hundred meters away, just a few minutes’ walk.
Just as she was approaching the store, a black Bentley suddenly pulled up in front of her.
Alana instantly recognized the owner of the Bentley and instinctively wanted to take off running.
However, the handsome man inside suddenly spoke, his deep voice as commanding as ever.
“Get in.”
Alana pouted.
Could she not get in?
Stephan’s knuckles tapped lightly on the steering wheel as he spoke calmly.
“Get in. I have something important for you.”
Alana hesitated, fearing another trap set by the man.
“What’s so important?”
He glanced at her, his tone cool. “Regarding that old man who hurt you last night, I have evidence that could destroy him.”
