Chapter 163: Chapter 163 Safe trip

He really wanted to use his professional position to force her into it, but knowing she hadn’t warmed up to him yet, he had no choice but to let it go.

“All right, have a safe trip."

She paused for a moment, then couldn’t help adding, “Let me know you’ve landed safely.”

Alana replied, “Okay,” then turned and hurried away.

Back at her desk, Alana quickly gathered her things, said goodbye to her colleagues, and left in a hurry.

As she walked out of the office, she was just about to hail a cab when she saw that familiar black Bentley driving toward her.

The car pulled up in front of her.

The man inside deftly opened the passenger door for her.

“Get in!”

Seeing Stephan’s handsome face, Alana couldn’t help but feel a lump in her throat.

She hurriedly got in, closed the door, and fastened her seatbelt.

“Why did you come? I just sent you a message, but you didn’t reply. I thought you...”

Stephan looked at her and explained, “I was in a meeting. I didn’t see your message

until after it ended. I figured you might be rushing to the airport, so I came right over.”

Most importantly, he didn’t know how she was feeling and was afraid she might be overthinking things, so he had to come see her in person to check on her.

Alana’s eyes stung again, a bitter, stinging sensation making her feel as if she were about to cry.

“Thank you.”

Stephan couldn’t help but reach out and gently wipe the moisture from the corners of her eyes, his deep voice filled with tenderness.

“My darling, don’t cry. Do you have your ID with you? Do you want to go home and get it?”

Alana said, “I have it on me. Let’s just go straight to the airport.”

“Alright, tell me, which airport?”

Alana sniffled and whispered the name of the airport.

Stephan immediately drove there.

As he drove, he asked, “What time is your flight? Do you want me to go with you?”

Alana bit her lip and whispered, “One o’clock in the afternoon.”

After a pause, she continued, “It’s too tight a schedule. I’ll just go by myself.”

“One o’clock isn’t that tight. I can book a ticket right now.”

Besides, he wasn’t comfortable with her rushing back alone.

Alana said, “Really, it’s okay. I can manage on my own. Besides, it wouldn’t be appropriate for you to come along on such short notice. I haven’t told my grandmother that I have a boyfriend yet. I’ll wait until I’ve told her, then I’ll formally introduce you to her.”

Stephan gave a soft chuckle, neither confirming nor denying her point.

Although she was right, he felt a little upset that he couldn’t go with her.

After all, this weekend were supposed to belong entirely to him, they could have spent a wonderful, romantic time together, just the two of them.

He had everything planned out.

Either they’d go shopping and see a movie like any ordinary young couple, or they’d stay in bed for two days and two nights without leaving the house.

Now that she’d left him behind to return to her hometown alone, leaving him all by

himself, he couldn’t help but feel a pang of disappointment.

Alana seemed to remember something; she immediately opened her bag and pulled

out a set of keys.

“Oh, right. While I’m away, please take good care of Luca’s pets. Here are the keys to his place. I’d leave them in your care.”

Stephan shot her a sidelong glance, a smirk playing on his lips. “Way to go, Lana. You’re getting better and better at bossing your boyfriend around as if it’s the most natural thing in the world.”

He couldn’t help but complain inwardly. It was bad enough that she’d left him behind, but now she was asking him to take care of his rival’s two pets?

This girlfriend of his, didn’t she know he’d be jealous?

Alana blushed, unable to argue.

She thought to herself, if you have a boyfriend and don’t make full use of him, aren’t you just wasting the fact that he’s your boyfriend?

Stephan snorted lightly and seized the opportunity to demand, “Remember to give me a reward when you get back, or I’ll let your Luca’s pets starve to death!”

As soon as Alana heard this, she realized the man was setting a trap for her. She instinctively asked, “What kind of reward?”

The man said shamelessly, “Put on some sexy lingerie, lie on the bed, and use every trick in the book to seduce me.”

Her face flushed bright red in an instant.

“You, you, you...”

She stammered for a while but couldn’t make head or tail of it. She just thought he was so perverted!

“I...I refuse!”

Stephan’s lips curled into a smirk. “Your refusal is invalid. I’ll wait for you to come back so I can claim my reward.”

It would take about half an hour to reach the airport.

There was still about half an hour before boarding.

Worried that Alana might get hungry on the way, Stephan bought her a few pastries and cakes to tide her over.

He ruffled her hair and said with concern, “Remember to text me when you land to let me know you’re safe.”

“Okay.”

“Once you get there, make sure to eat on time. Don’t let yourself get too hungry.”

“Okay.”

“Make sure to tell your grandmother about your boyfriend. I’m waiting for you to bring me over and formally introduce me to her.”

“Okay.”

“And one more thing you absolutely mustn’t forget: remember to miss me.”

“Okay.”

He chuckled, unable to resist pinching her soft, fair cheeks. “Lana, are you a

robot? I said all that, and all you said was ‘okay’?”

Her eyes were red and teary. “I was afraid that if I said one more word, I wouldn’t be able to hold back the tears...”

Although he was a bit fussy, her heart felt warm hearing his words.

Every time she traveled, she was all alone, with no one to see her off.

She saw so many people around her being picked up or dropped off by their loved ones, with one warm piece of advice after another. It moved her deeply, and she envied them so much.

Only when you truly experience it yourself do you realize just how heartwarming that scene is, and how reluctant you are to part.

She cherished this feeling of being with him.

She really loved it.

Stephan stared into her reddened eyes, his throat catching slightly.

“In that case, kiss me.”

Alana’s eyes had just turned red, and now her face flushed as well.

“No, there are too many people here...”

Stephan couldn’t care less about that right now. He didn’t know how many days she would be away in her hometown, and the thought of not being able to hold her or kiss her for all that time was pure torture.

“Then let’s find a private spot to kiss.”

Alana bit her lip. “You didn’t kiss me in the car just now...”

“It’s my fault. I was worried you’d just caught a flight, so I overthought it. Now, let’s find a good spot to kiss.”

“Don’t kiss me now. Just wait until I get back.”

Stephan ignored her little protest, leading her to a spot with fewer people. He cupped

her face and leaned down to kiss her.

Oh this shy girlfriend of his. He didn’t mind doing it in front of even thousands of people but he had to respect her wishes.

Her tear-filled eyes made her look as fragile as a delicate doll, filling him with tenderness.

He just wanted to hold her close, kiss her passionately, and comfort her...

*********

By the time Alana boarded the plane, her lips were so swollen and red she couldn’t

bear to be seen.

Her heart was filled with both sweetness and embarrassment.

That rascal, he’d almost devoured her all over in the middle of the bustling airport.

But as she walked away, she couldn’t help but look back every few steps.

Every time she turned, she saw him still standing there, staring intently at her, his eyes deep and dark.

Her heart felt warm, and she waved at him. “Stephan, see you soon.”

She would miss him so much.

Stephan watched Alana board the plane, watching her slender figure disappear

from view. In that moment, he felt an indescribable sense of loss.

An emptiness.

He furrowed his brow slightly, standing outside the airport, motionless for a long time. Until the plane took off and was completely out of sight...

His phone suddenly rang.

Stephan slowly looked away and took out his phone to answer the call. “Hello.”

Cynthia said irritably, “You little brat, it’s the weekend tomorrow. When are you bringing your girlfriend home so I can get ready?”

This ungrateful son was completely unreliable; she, his mother, had to call and ask herself.
