Though he had no idea what they’d discussed during their long chat, at some point, hearing their words clearly became a problem but his gut told him it couldn’t be good news for him.

Sure enough, as soon as Stephan stepped out of the café, he saw Alana already in her best friend’s car, driving away arrogantly right in front of him.

What the hell?

Suddenly, he felt a desolate sense of being completely abandoned. Even the wind blowing past him felt bitterly cold.

Just then, his phone rang.

Stephan thought it was Alana calling and felt a flicker of hope.

But when he pulled out his phone, he saw it was Gary.

His expression darkened instantly.

Frowning, he answered, his tone heavy.

“What is it?”

It was very noisy on Gary’s end; he was clearly at a party.

“Stephan did you manage to step up yet? If you’ve successfully become her boyfriend, bring her over right away so everyone can get to know this great woman that has you so smitten. We’re really looking forward to it!”

Stephan wanted to punch Gary right now.

Gary didn’t get a reply from Stephan; instead, he heard the sound of the call being hung up.

Gary frowned.

What was going on?

Didn’t he succeed in becoming her boyfriend?!

Eve dropped Alana off at the entrance of her apartment complex.

She gave Alana a long list of warnings: “Lana, you’d better be careful. That man is clearly a scheming, manipulative big bad wolf, out to swindle and deceive you, a pure and innocent little white rabbit!”

“Take good care of yourself, don’t let him snatch you away so easily!”

“You need to take your time getting to know him. Don’t agree to anything too quickly, or he’ll devour you until there’s nothing left!”

Alana thought back to the way Stephan had looked at her, wasn’t that exactly the look of someone who wanted to devour her whole?

She agreed wholeheartedly and nodded. “Got it.”

Eve patted Alana on the shoulder. “Don’t worry. I’ve got a way to test if he’s sincere with you. Just wait for my good news!”

Alana asked eagerly, “What’s the plan?!”

Eve winked. “It’s a secret. You go home now!”

Alana let out an “Oh.” Although she was curious about what Eve had up her sleeve, she didn’t press the issue.

She said goodbye to Eve, waved, and left.

After all, she didn’t think her best friend would ever harm her.

No matter what her best friend did, it was surely for her own good.

Eve watched until Alana had safely entered the residential complex, then pulled out her phone and made a call.

“Luca, I’ve already checked with Alana. That man isn’t her boyfriend at all, he’s just one of her suitors! Not only that, but he’s a total pervert, he tried to force himself on her! You’ve got to make your move on Lana right away! If you don’t act now, that man is going to steal her away from us!”

“You don’t want my beautiful Lana to be snatched up by a pervert, do you?”

Luca was stunned. So that was how it was, no wonder he’d been so resistant when he saw Alana being dragged away by that man!

So, he was just a suitor after all!

It seemed he’d acted with foresight by calling Eve and explaining the whole situation to her, that was how he would be finally able to rescue Alana from that pervert’s clutches.

He patted his chest, his expression turning resolute.

“Don’t worry, I won’t let that pervert get his hands on Lana!”

Eve nodded, her voice filled with emotion.

“Luca, I’m counting on you. The plan to save my best friend is all up to you.”

Luca spoke with absolute certainty. “I’ve got this. Leave it to me!”

Eve smiled and finally hung up the phone with a sense of relief.

She exhaled and said to herself. “Luca, I’m sorry! To test whether that man is truly sincere about Lana, I’ll have to use you to rile him up a bit. If that guy turns out to be unreliable, you’ll have a chance to step in, right?!”

But if both of them turns out to be reliable, well...

Her dear best friend, Alana, would she be able to handle it?

As Alana walked down the hallway, she saw someone standing in front of her apartment.

She swallowed, seeing it was Stephan.

He can’t just let her be for one second, can he?

“So...I’m here for my answer. We’re dating now, right?” He began, straight to the point.

Under the man’s intense gaze, Alana couldn’t help but feel her cheeks grow hot.

She shyly turned her face away. “Not yet.”

He was already ready to kiss her and make love to her all night but she actually said he wasn’t her boyfriend yet?!

He frowned, his deep voice tinged with intense frustration.

“What will it take to finally be your boyfriend?”

Sensing the man’s growing desire for her, Alana couldn’t help but give him a reproachful glance. “I’ll observe you for a few days. Only when I decide you’re qualified will I accept you.”

Stephan gritted his teeth inwardly. “How many more days?”

He couldn’t wait another second.

He wanted to become her man openly and honestly, then immediately carry her home, throw her onto the bed, and take her fiercely.

Alana nodded, her expression serious. “It will take a few days. I’m not exactly sure how many, but probably around a week.”

Stephan clenched his teeth. “Alana, are you messing with me?”

Three days was already long enough to wait, now she wanted another whole week?!

He’d planned to get his fill tonight, and had even brought several packs of condoms with him.

Alana furrowed her delicate brows and seized the moment to take the upper hand.
