Chapter 60: CH. 60 | Sect Tavern
Lin Tian had only just realized that their sect had its own tavern in Lanzhu City.
However, Lin Tian did not really mind even if he had to speak with them at their place.
As long as he obtained information about the other red-robed sects, that was more than enough.
They walked while bringing Lin Tian with them, and the man followed behind them.
To them, they only saw Lin Tian’s cultivation base at Peak Foundation Establishment and never knew what his true cultivation base was.
The three of them turned at an intersection in the city road and walked along the street.
It did not stop there. They entered a small road at the western edge of the city area, and the two women continued guiding Lin Tian.
On the side of that quiet road, Lin Tian saw a one-story tavern with their sect’s emblem, the Zhuyan Sect.
Lin Tian’s steps stopped for a moment. He turned his head to the right and left, carefully observing the area.
Too quiet. I do not even see a single mortal around.
One of the women looked back. "What is it?"
Lin Tian looked forward again and smiled faintly. "Nothing."
They entered the tavern, which turned out to already be crowded with members of the Zhuyan Sect.
Almost all the tavern visitors were wearing the sect’s red robes, and even the servants and the tavern owner wore the same robes.
When Lin Tian entered, their attention immediately focused on him. Some began whispering and gossiping, while others began staring at Lin Tian with grinning smiles.
Because of the black robe Lin Tian was wearing, they assumed Lin Tian was a wandering cultivator, an easy target to rob and enslave, with no strong backing like a sect or clan.
They ordered drinks, and Lin Tian did the same. An empty table was located at the end of the tavern.
They sat there and invited Lin Tian to sit as well.
"Nice tavern," Lin Tian greeted, preventing them from becoming suspicious.
"Thank you. Our sect elder deliberately bought this house and turned it into a tavern for all the disciples," the woman replied.
"That is truly useful if it is used as a place to rest and relax in Lanzhu City."
"I agree with you," Lin Tian said.
Not long after, a female servant came and placed a bottle of wine on the table, along with three small wooden cups for drinking.
Lin Tian looked at it. With his Nascent Soul cultivation base, he would not get drunk easily. However, perhaps they could get drunk quickly.
Even so, he occasionally glanced to the side and saw several sect disciples staring at him with cynical, sharp, and ambitious looks.
Lin Tian ignored them. Attacking first would make him look like he was attacking the sect.
"So, what do you want to ask?" one of the women asked.
"I am looking for a sect with red robes. Do you know anything?" Lin Tian asked.
"We are a red-robed sect."
"Besides the Zhuyan Sect."
One of the women raised her head and glanced toward the ceiling, trying to remember the details.
She knew several sects had red robes, but she found it difficult to explain them to Lin Tian.
Lin Tian tapped his bag of holding and handed them the information token containing the 12 sects. "Those are the names of sects that have red-colored sect robes."
"I will give 10 low-grade spirit stones for information about one sect, including its location," Lin Tian explained, bringing out a black pouch filled with spirit stones.
Several cultivators heard what Lin Tian said. They began whispering briefly and speaking in low voices, gossiping and planning something.
"Information about one sect is worth 10 low-grade spirit stones."
"There’s no mistake. He is a rich cultivator."
The two women in front of him looked awkward after hearing Lin Tian’s offer.
They did not know how to respond because there was not much they knew.
One of the women took the information token and completed the information about two sects she knew besides the Zhuyan Sect.
She knew those two sects because she had once accidentally crossed paths with them and seen their sect headquarters.
A small boom of qi occurred in the information token, a sign that the information inside had been updated.
The additional information from the woman was about the Chilian Sect and the Zhuque Sect.
Lin Tian looked at the information and shook his head.
They were not the ones responsible for attacking the Lingxian Sect. However, he was pleased because the number on the list had shrunk, leaving only nine sects.
According to the agreement, he handed 20 low-grade spirit stones to the woman. She smiled widely and thanked him.
Twenty low-grade spirit stones were equal to the price of a profound-grade technique scroll.
"You? What about you?" Lin Tian asked.
"Sorry, I do not know much about those sects," the woman in front of Lin Tian said.
"Alright. It seems I have to search somewhere else," Lin Tian replied.
He raised his cup and drank the wine in one gulp. He stood and clasped his hands, bidding farewell to them.
However, when he was about to open the door, Lin Tian narrowed his eyes when he realized a fire spear was shooting toward him.
The man quickly turned around and caught the fire spear with his hand. He looked forward, seeing 10 Zhuyan Sect disciples rising from their seats.
"I heard your deal. How about you exchange information about one sect for 50 low-grade spirit stones? I know a lot about sects."
"No need. I will search somewhere else," Lin Tian said.
"Wait!"
One of the sect disciples came and held the tavern door, preventing Lin Tian from leaving the tavern.
The spear-wielding man from earlier walked closer with a grinning smile on his face.
"Do you not know? Cultivators from outside are forbidden from entering the sect tavern, especially wandering cultivators like you," the man said.
"But the two women earlier did not say anything about—"
"So you trapped me."
One of the women stood and smiled at Lin Tian. "Blame yourself for trusting others too quickly. Are you stupid? No one can be trusted in this cultivation world."
Lin Tian smiled faintly, glancing forward and looking at all of them clearly. "You are right. Trusting too quickly will bring us to destruction."
"However, do you believe my cultivation base is only Foundation Establishment?" Lin Tian asked sharply.
"What do you mean—"
THUMP!
A powerful cultivation pressure equal to Nascent Soul struck all of them, making them vomit blood, restless and panicked.
Not a single one of them had the strength to stand firmly like Lin Tian.
"M-Master... Nascent Soul?!" they groaned, panicked and sweating.
"I already tried to trust you, even when I sensed something strange outside the tavern. However, you betrayed my trust," Lin Tian replied.
"For me... killing weak cultivators like you is easy!" Lin Tian said firmly.
"Killing us? Do not be crazy! Our sect elders will come to hunt you down even if you are a Nascent Soul Master!" one of them shouted.
Lin Tian laughed loudly while still activating his cultivation pressure on them. They were still suppressed and injured, their bodies aching, their minds buzzing with pain.
"Let that become my problem with your sect. However, are you sure you are ready for your deaths?!"
"I will make the Zhuyan Sect suffer like the Hongtian Sect!"
