Michael gritted his teeth as a sharp, searing pain ripped through his body. His vision blurred, his breathing grew ragged, and his fingers twitched uncontrollably.

You forgot a step!? He mentally shouted at the system, his mind barely holding itself together.

[Yeah... So, uh, funny thing—race changes usually require a full recalibration of the soul. Turns out, skipping that part makes the process very painful.]

No shit. Michael groaned, falling to his knees as golden light crackled around him. His skin burned, his bones ached, and his mana circuits felt like they were being rewritten from the inside out.

His back arched as something began to sprout from between his shoulder blades. A deep, rumbling crack echoed through the alleyway, followed by the sensation of his own flesh tearing open.

He gasped as his body lurched forward, and within seconds, a pair of pure white wings violently burst from his back. Feathers scattered into the air, glowing faintly as they drifted to the ground.

Michael took several shaky breaths, his vision flickering in and out of focus. He could still feel the burning sensation running through his veins, but it was slowly subsiding.

[Okay, that was rough,] the system admitted. [But hey, congrats—you’re an angel now.]

Michael clenched his fists, standing up on unsteady legs. He reached behind him, running his fingers over the new appendages. They were warm, soft, yet unnervingly foreign.

What now? he asked, trying to ignore the lingering pain.

[Now? You get the hell out of here before someone sees you.]

Fair enough.

Michael took a deep breath, his mind racing through his next course of action. He had done it. He had successfully changed his race. Now, all that was left was to infiltrate the Angel Academy and figure out what the gods were hiding. Stay updated via Freewebnovel

He flexed his new wings, and frankly, they didn’t feel as great as the ones he was used to.

Nonetheless, they were better than nothing, and he could already feel power flowing through him.

But of course, this power was merely borrowed.

Despite that, it was time he flew up into the clouds, and think of his next few steps.

Since if this timeline is the same, then that meant Amanda would be gone, which also meant that his disappearance would not change much.

There was the added variable of Meph, but that was fine.

If anything, he seemed like the type of being to realize something was wrong by himself.

Therefore, Michael relaxed himself, hovering above the clouds.

[For a first timer, you’re pretty good at flying.] The system remarked with a whistle. [Though it is still a bit shabby when comparing to what I could do back in the past.]

I don’t doubt it. Michael chuckled before turning serious. How do I go to heaven?

[It’s simple, just kill yourself.] The system said plainly, making Michael’s eyes widen.

Do what now? Why would I kill myself?

[Angels don’t inherently die. Every time their bodies are destroyed, they float back up to heaven and their bodies are once again restored. Now that you are an angel, the same applies to you too.] The system explained.

Is there an alternative? Michael asked with furrowed brows.

[Actually, yes.] The system affirmed. [You would need to go to a higher realm, preferably, something with Tier 10 individuals inside, then you must fight them, kill them all, and eventually, you’ll be taken back to heaven with a medal of valor.]

So what you’re saying is that there’s no other choice for the current me. Michael let out a sigh. But aren’t there special conditions for angels to die? I doubt they’re immortal.

[They aren’t. Their bodies get damaged, and with that, so does their soul. Anyone above Tier 10 can damage the soul, and effectively kill you without actually killing you. It’s interesting, and for now, you won’t have to worry about that.] The system assured.

Immediately, Michael let out a sigh, as he summoned a sword of light, before hesitantly placing it over his heart.

[You might want to pull out some bigger guns, I don’t think that’ll work.] The system remarked, but Michael didn’t listen, as he stabbed the sword straight through his own heart.

But to his surprise, despite the sword piercing straight through his heart, he didn’t feel pain.

Instead, it was almost like he was drenched in a cold bath, as the sword began taking itself out of his body, and dissipating in the air.

Now what was that? Michael asked.

[A failsafe, just like any other. You’re not that special, don’t worry.] The system chuckled. [I can help you, obviously.]

As the system’s words fell, it suddenly materialized itself in its humanoid form.

And with that, it summoned a single dagger of light, before placing it over Michael’s throat.

"This might sting a little." Mikhail said. "Count to 3."

Michael tilted his head in confusion. "1, 2—"

His words were interrupted, when all of a sudden, his vision turned completely dark.

Yet at the same time, he was certain he didn’t die.

After all, he had already felt death twice by now.

If anything, this felt like he was about to get out of the womb or something.

Not that he know of course.

Nonetheless, he waited, and waited... and waited.

Finally, a glimmer of light appeared, and soon, Michael was spat out somewhere, goo covering his entire body as the foul smell entered his nose.

[Pfft... hahahha,] The system let out a laugh. [Congratulations, you’ve just been given birth to.]

Michael’s eyes widened as he looked around, just to see some gigantic contraption which spat out another being, and then another shortly after.

All of them were angels, and frankly, none of them looked pleased.

"Fuck dying. Why can’t they make us respawn from a flower or something for good old time’s sake." One of them grumbled.

"Well, that’s what you get for playing magic roulette with the demons." The second angel remarked, slapping the first angel’s back. "Besides, we won once."

"And then we lost twice in a row." The first angel grumbled, before his gaze fell on Michael. "A new angel?"

Hearing that, his friend’s eyes widened. "We hadn’t had a new angel in decades... Is someone doing the deed as we speak?"

"Shut it you freak." The first angel growled. "He’s like our little brother now, and yet you’re speaking about two extremely old people having sex, and giving birth remotely—"

"Stop." Michael interjected.

The image in his mind was growing more and more vivid, and frankly, he almost felt like vomitting.

"Can any one of you show me where to go? As you said, I’m new here."

"Just go that way." The two said in unison, pointing in completely different directions.

"..." Michael grew speechless as he let out a sigh. "I guess I’ll find my own way then."

"N-No, wait." The first angel said, placing his hand on Michael’s shoulder. "I’m sure of where to go, come with me young man."

"You’re giving off a bit of strange vibes my brother." The second angel appeared. "I believe I should guide him instead. After all, the kids love me."

What is up with this group of weirdos? Michael thought inside his mind.

However, as he did, a distant sound soon rang out, almost like a bell.

Yet that sound was enough to shut both of the angels up, as they looked on in panic.

"Fuck! We’re going to be late to class!"

"But we need to wash up! What will Rebecca D Constantine the Third say about us if we show up stinking like shit!?"

"Who the fuck even is that!" The first angel shot back, before glancing at Michael. "Sorry kid, entrance ceremony is happening as we speak, if we’re late, then we can call our angel selves goodbye."

Before the two could storm off, Michael spoke. "Can I come with?"

"Huh? But you look 14?" The second angel asked.

"I am 14." Michael affirmed. "But I’m more mature than I look, promise."

"Hahaha!" The first angel let out a laugh, as he stretched out his hand. "Welcome aboard then my junior! I will show you the ways of the soon-to-be angels!"

Noticing the goo and slime on the angel’s hand, Michael refrained from shaking it.

Instead, he merely signaled that he was ready, and soon, they began moving.

Surprisingly, their speed wasn’t that great, merely Tier 1 level.

By now, Michael was around Tier 3, which was a bit of an upgrade from last time.

Yet at the same time, he knew that he had to reach a much higher level before he could do anything.

Since worst case scenario, the past repeats itself, and he would have to redo this entire scenario over, and over, and over again.

But he wasn’t sure how many times he could do this.

After all, the reality should have been completely wiped out, his memories should have disappeared along with it.

"Kid! Sasquatch!" The angel called out, startling Michael out of his thoughts.

Sasquatch? Michael tilted his head in confusion, but soon, he felt like he had stepped into something.

And once he looked down, he realized it was a pile of shit.

Nonetheless, the academy was already in the distance, and it was practically the size of Vivum Academy, times two.

Furthermore, the size didn’t matter when he couldn’t get in.

After all, currently, his first impression would be the worst of the worst.

"Kid... We forgot our wallets, mind paying the toll?" One of the angels asked, making Michael furrow his brows.

Yeah, I’m screwed.
