Chapter 2322: Chapter 2012: Your Highness, Just Wait for Our Good News
A chill wind swept through the courtyard, jolting Ji Yan back to his senses. He scrutinized the black-robed figure before him once more.
Despite the shock, he remained vigilant at heart. The origins of the Yellow Springs Sect were unknown, and though they had done much of his dirty work, he never fully trusted them. Who could guarantee that the Yellow Springs Sect wasn’t deceiving him?
Ji Yan then asked, "How will you prove it?"
The black-robed man stepped to the edge of the pond, gazing at the swimming fish, and replied indifferently, "There’s no need for proof. Your Highness can choose to believe or not. Whether to cooperate is entirely at Your Highness’s discretion."
Hearing this, Ji Yan grew even more skeptical about the truth of his words.
However, if this black-robed man spoke the truth, his father might very well break through to the Heavenly Realm. By then, all their schemes would be mere jokes.
Even reaching the Earth Realm grants a lifespan of a thousand years, not to mention a strong person of the Heavenly Realm.
Ji Yan was self-aware enough to know that reaching the late-stage Earth Realm was likely his limit, let alone breaking through to the Heavenly Realm.
In other words, he couldn’t outlive their father, no matter if he became Crown Prince. If he couldn’t outlive their father, even as Crown Prince, he could never become Emperor.
Under any circumstance, he couldn’t allow their father to obtain the Dragon Qi from Prince Zhen Nan.
The black-robed man continued, "Has Your Highness ever considered what your power would be if you obtained the Dragon Qi from Prince Zhen Nan?"
Ji Yan snapped out of it. "Prince Zhen Nan would never give me the Dragon Qi."
His relationship with Zhen Nan Prince Manor wasn’t great, with almost no interactions. How could Prince Zhen Nan possibly give him the Dragon Qi?
The black-robed man said, "Prince Zhen Nan certainly won’t give the Dragon Qi to Your Highness, but if Your Highness desires the Dragon Qi from him, it’s not entirely impossible."
Hearing this, Ji Yan’s heart skipped a beat. "In that case, does the Yellow Springs Sect have a way to help me obtain the Dragon Qi from Prince Zhen Nan?"
Since the Yellow Springs Sect said so, it proved they knew how to steal Dragon Qi from Prince Zhen Nan.
The black-robed man replied, "Naturally."
Ji Yan eagerly asked, "What should be done?"
The black-robed man looked at Ji Yan and smiled faintly, "Your Highness has yet to agree to cooperate with us."
Ji Yan instantly realized and then said, "If you can truly help me obtain the Dragon Qi from Prince Zhen Nan and ascend to that position, I am naturally willing to cooperate with you."
Ji Yan had no desire for their father to gain the Dragon Qi from Prince Zhen Nan and then break through to the Heavenly Realm, living for thousands of years.
He now felt that his brothers were not his real competitors; their father was the true adversary, the biggest obstacle to him ascending to that position.
His brothers might only break through to the Earth Realm, having lifespans similar to his.
But if their father broke through to the Heavenly Realm, he could outlive all of them.
Seeing Ji Yan’s agreement, the black-robed man said, "Your Highness has made the most correct choice."
Hearing the black-robed man’s words, Ji Yan felt a bit displeased. It sounded as if opposition to cooperation meant the Yellow Springs Sect would turn against him?
After all, if the Yellow Springs Sect did not cooperate with him, they might collaborate with other princes, making him and the Yellow Springs Sect adversaries.
Indeed, the Yellow Springs Sect might assist another prince ascend to that position, thereby harming him.
Considering this possibility, cold sweat broke out on Ji Yan’s forehead. Thankfully, he agreed.
But this left him quite unhappy; he, a dignified prince, was being threatened by a faction.
Once he ascended to that position, his first act would surely be settling accounts with the Yellow Springs Sect.
Recovering his composure, Ji Yan asked the black-robed man, "What do you plan to do next?"
Although there were rumors of Prince Zhen Nan’s impending death, he seemed well enough now, occasionally leaving Zhen Nan Prince Manor to handle Deceit Suppression Bureau affairs, hardly resembling a man on the brink of death.
Even if Prince Zhen Nan died, the Dragon Qi would likely pass to Lu Chen.
Seizing the Dragon Qi from Prince Zhen Nan would not be easy.
Zhen Nan Prince Manor had many Emperor Realm strong people. Before Prince Zhen Nan’s death, it would be difficult to approach him unless the Yellow Springs Sect could lure him out of the Capital City.
The black-robed man replied, "Simple. As long as we can kill Prince Zhen Nan, we can seize the Dragon Qi from him."
Hearing this, Ji Yan chuckled, "That’s easier said than done."
He doubted they had the strength to kill Prince Zhen Nan, plus Prince Zhen Nan’s body was shielded by Dragon Qi, making it impossible to attack him in the Capital City.
The black-robed man continued, "Does Your Highness find it difficult?"
Ji Yan retorted, "Does the Yellow Springs Sect think assassinating Prince Zhen Nan is easy? Does the Sect have more Earth Realm strong people than Zhen Nan Prince Manor?"
The black-robed man smiled, "Your Highness truly knows little about the Yellow Springs Sect. I assure Your Highness, within a year, Prince Zhen Nan will surely die."
Seeing the black-robed man’s confidence, Ji Yan once again showed a doubtful expression.
Though there were persistent rumors about Prince Zhen Nan’s impending death, his recent actions suggested otherwise.
How could a dying man still move around? And manage affairs of the Deceit Suppression Bureau? How could the Yellow Springs Sect be so certain that Prince Zhen Nan would die within a year?
Did they believe Prince Zhen Nan had little time left, or did they have a real method to lure him out of the Capital City?
Just as Ji Yan considered saying something, the black-robed man turned to say, "Your Highness, please await our good news."
With that, the black-robed man’s figure became a blur and soon vanished from sight.
...
Deep in the fog-laden forest, the mist clung to the rotten leaves and damp earth, smothering the air.
Tangled old branches twisted skyward, allowing only fractured streams of cold light.
Occasionally, the shrieks of strange birds echoed harshly in the silent woods.
At this moment, deep within the dense forest, several Deceit Kings exuded terrifying auras.
Before these Deceit Kings, a green-robed, half-flesh half-bone mysterious figure quivered as it spoke.
As soon as this mysterious figure finished speaking, the Blood Pupil Deceit King couldn’t help but laugh, then said, "Who does Yun Yudie think she is? Daring to send someone here to threaten us."
With that, a wave of deceitful evil emanated from his body, forming a massive hand that slammed the emissary from the Heavenly Fate Sect into the ground. Even though the emissary’s aura weakened instantly, it did not die outright.
The green-robed mysterious figure gritted its teeth, then said, "My lords... be vigilant!"
Being a low-level mysterious entity, if these Deceit Kings intended to kill him, he likely wouldn’t survive this Demon Cave Forest today.
But their Sect Hierarch had the means to revive the mysterious beings, and though he was a mere pawn, their Sect Hierarch would surely resurrect him. This was why the Heavenly Fate Sect could gather so many mysterious beings.
