Chapter 475: Chapter 475: Trying Too Hard to Ingratiate

Gu Shiting sat beside the old man for a moment.

He received a phone call.

After answering the call, his face looked upset, and he stood up to take his leave.

Sheng Tang hurried to see him out the door and asked him, "What’s wrong?"

"My grandfather wasn’t feeling well yesterday, and he was hospitalized early this morning," Gu Shiting said. "I need to go back to check on him."

Sheng Tang noticed the slight pallor of his lips, aware of his deep affection for his grandfather, and quickly comforted him, "It’s okay, elderly people often feel unwell. Don’t worry."

Gu Shiting held her hand in return.

From her palm, he could draw warmth and strength.

"Can you come with me?" Gu Shiting asked, holding her hand. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

Sheng Tang hesitated for a moment.

"No, you go by yourself. I’ll wait for you here," Sheng Tang said. "It won’t be anything serious. Besides, you can always find me."

Gu Shiting’s heart turned cold.

He felt sad and a bit unwilling.

The demon hidden in his heart stirred again, wanting to lock her away, hide her where no one could see her, so she would never reject him and would belong only to him.

He gripped Sheng Tang’s hand tightly. After a long while, the sound of a car horn came from behind; Song Chen had personally come to pick him up.

The rain had stopped. The air was damp, and the peach tree in the front yard had scattered rosy petals all over the path.

Sheng Tang didn’t pull away from him but held his hand and led him down the steps.

The soles of their shoes were covered with petals, and the fragrance lingered.

"Brother Song." Sheng Tang greeted Song Chen and then opened the back car door for Gu Shiting, tilting her head to look at him, "Shall we?"

Gu Shiting finally released her.

He turned and hugged her tightly, planting a light kiss on her thick hair.

"I’ll call you tonight," Gu Shiting said. "I probably won’t be able to visit you during the holidays. See you at school."

Sheng Tang nodded.

Song Chen smiled at her and said to Sheng Tang, "I already took Madame to the hospital; the old man is fine. The family was just worried, so they sent him there."

Sheng Tang felt a bit relieved.

As the car drove away, Sheng Tang stood at the door, watching it disappear down the road.

She stood there dazed for five minutes before remembering to go back inside.

As she stepped back onto the front steps of the villa, she heard the sound of brakes behind her.

Three cars had stopped at the villa’s entrance.

When Sheng Tang turned around, she saw Sheng Zhang and the others getting out of the cars, frowning at her.

She ignored them and went straight into the villa.

The second lady was immediately angry, "Look at her, no manners at all, seeing elders and not even greeting them!"

The others felt the same way.

They dared not act out and composed their faces before entering, letting the children lead the way.

Sheng Qiao entered the living room first and called out loudly, "Grandfather."

The old man’s brow furrowed slightly; he had told them to come tomorrow. Did they treat his words as mere wind?

Or were they guarding against him, not allowing him to be too close to his eldest son?

"Dad, we went out to play this morning and picked some cherries. The kids wanted to bring them for you to taste." The first lady smiled, holding a small basket full of bright red cherries.

They were just looking for an excuse to come over.

The old man was not very pleased and looked at them quietly, "That was thoughtful of you."

He then asked them to sit down.

His villa was not as spacious as the old mansion. With seven people arriving all at once, there was not enough room to sit.

Sheng Sidong immediately said, "Sir, it’s getting late. We’ll head back first."
