Chapter 421: Chapter 421 Changing Appearances
Everyone was talking at once, discussing incessantly.
"Sheng Tang has improved so fast! Wasn’t she out of the top 100 in the final exam last semester?"
"She was out of the top 120, she was ranked just behind me then, and I was 120th."
"But now she’s in the top 20, and you’re probably still at 120th."
"Sheng Tang has lost a lot of weight, and her grades have improved too. Her popularity at school has soared, almost everyone knows her now."
"I never believed in transformations. Sheng Tang has shown me what a real transformation looks like, she’s amazing!"
Everyone was talking animatedly, and Sheng Tang and Jiang Baocu couldn’t help but overhear.
Jiang Baocu gently nudged Sheng Tang, "Not bad!"
Sheng Tang smiled.
The head teacher clapped heavily on the podium a few times, finally quieting the room down.
"Even on the first day of school, we must maintain discipline. I haven’t finished talking and you’re already having a little meeting, is that appropriate?" Her expression was serious, and she was vaguely about to lose her temper.
The classroom fell silent for a moment.
After a pause, the head teacher continued, speaking about Sheng Tang’s grades: "Sheng Tang has performed very well, bringing honor to the class. Stay modest and keep working hard."
With that, she started announcing the next set of rankings.
Jiang Baocu was ranked 41st in the grade, which was a few places higher than the last mid-term exam, and she was thrilled to be in her ideal top 50.
She secretly shook Sheng Tang’s arm, feeling like she could almost take off with joy.
Sheng Tang held her hand down, stopping her from moving around.
After announcing all the rankings, the head teacher occasionally added a few comments, which took up an entire class period to finish.
The second period was the class meeting.
Class meetings were always long and dull.
The head teacher spoke, followed by the class monitor, the study committee member, and various subject representatives—everyone had something to say.
Under the desk, Sheng Tang and Jiang Baocu passed notes to each other, ignoring the chatter.
The class meeting lasted a full period.
During the third period, the whole classroom was in chaos because they were rearranging the seats again.
The head teacher posted the seating chart on the blackboard, and everyone crowded around to see.
Sheng Tang and Jiang Baocu’s seats were moved to the second row of the first group.
Just by the corridor window, where the teacher would see them first upon entering, and it wasn’t a great spot for looking at the blackboard straight on.
Jiang Baocu moaned, "I don’t want to sit there."
"Stop whining."
Sheng Tang quickly packed her belongings, waiting for Jiang Baocu.
Sitting directly in front of them, in the first row of the first group, was Yan Jinzhi, and behind them were Qi Lin and another boy.
When Sheng Tang arrived, Qi Lin was already seated.
He was also sitting on the outside, and when he saw Sheng Tang, he smiled at her.
Sheng Tang had no major quarrel with him; they even hung out during winter break, so she felt obliged to smile back.
"We’re front and back desks now, so let me borrow your homework in the future," Qi Lin proactively struck up a conversation.
Sheng Tang agreed.
Jiang Baocu also arrived.
Yan Jinzhi was ecstatic, "Didn’t expect to end up sitting in front of you two."
In the first row of the second group, a long-haired girl was sitting. She was quietly doing her homework, not talking.
"Who is that?" Yan Jinzhi asked Jiang Baocu.
Jiang Baocu couldn’t tell who it was.
Her clothing and style were unfamiliar, and they really couldn’t place her.
She made Sheng Tang go check the seating chart on the blackboard.
After being nudged several times by her, Sheng Tang had no choice but to check.
When she came back, her expression was a bit odd.
Under the curious gazes of Jiang Baocu and Yan Jinzhi, Sheng Tang told them, "It’s Feng Yijin."
Jiang Baocu: "..."
Yan Jinzhi: "..."
They had never seen Feng Yijin look like this—so clean, quiet, and even silent.
