Chapter 946: The Birth of The Elven Race

Chapter 946 – The Birth of The Elven Race

A voice began to speak through the melody.

Lux could not understand the words.

But Yue’s chant acted as a bridge, and meaning began to settle inside the room.

Not translation.

Impression.

A tale.

The birth of the elven race.

How they came from ancient roots and starlit breath.

How the first forests gave them names.

How they were not originally divided into noble houses, high and low branches, pure and lesser blood.

They were keepers.

Listeners.

Memory-bearers.

The ones meant to preserve songs of the world before conquest began carving history into ownership.

Lux went still.

He hated that he liked this too.

Worse, he understood the value instantly.

Not monetary.

Historical.

Identity value.

The kind of thing that could change how a whole race understood itself.

Sira, however, had reached her limit. She cringed slightly. "This is too old."

Lux didn’t look away.

Sira gestured at the image. "Historic, yes, but too backwards."

Yue turned her head slowly.

Sira continued, completely undeterred because Pride daughters were apparently immune to survival instinct. "Well, not as backwards as the dinosaur era though."

Yue cleared her throat.

Softly.

"Ehm."

Sira looked at her.

Yue raised one brow. "You know I am a dragon, right?"

Sira waved one hand. "Yeah, but not a dinosaur." She smiled. "So, heh."

Lux finally glanced at Sira. "You are flirting with death through historical taxonomy."

"I’m bonding."

"You are speedrunning dragon offense."

Yue looked at Sira for another second, then sighed. "I am beginning to understand why Lux keeps you near him."

Sira beamed. "Because I’m adorable?"

"Because chaos gathers around familiar chaos."

Lux nodded. "That sounds accurate."

Sira pointed at the image. "Can we move forward?"

Yue looked back at the floating tale. "I can’t."

Sira groaned.

"Besides..." Yue pointed gently toward Lux.

Sira followed her finger.

Lux was silent.

Completely silent.

His eyes were fixed on the images like a child listening to a fairytale for the first time.

Or more accurately, like a Greed toddler listening to the sound of money going kaching in a treasury.

He looked fascinated. Not greedy in the simple way. Not thinking about selling the book or weaponizing it. Not yet, anyway.

He was absorbing.

Collecting.

Understanding.

His mind was probably building frameworks at a speed no normal person wanted to witness. Ancient elven origins. Noble legitimacy. Forgotten races. Kaelmor’s possible prisoners. Ely’s lineage. The political value of buried truth.

Sira stared at him. Then smirked faintly. "Oh no."

Lux didn’t blink.

Yue tilted her head. "What?"

"He’s learning."

Yue looked back at Lux.

The melody continued.

The tale showed the first elves gathering around an enormous tree with seven roots, each root glowing with a different light. They sang into the earth, and from the song came memory crystals. From memory crystals came language. From language came oath. From oath came bloodlines.

Lux’s pupils shifted slightly.

Not demonic.

Just focused.

Sira whispered, "This is the same face he makes when he sees a profitable loophole."

Lux lifted one finger without looking at her. "Quiet."

Sira’s grin widened. "Definitely learning."

The image changed again.

The first elves knelt before the great tree.

But above them, in the sky, something moved.

A shadow.

A watcher.

Not Kaelmor.

Older.

Far older.

Lux’s smile vanished.

Yue’s eyes narrowed.

The melody grew lower. The beautiful song gained a dissonant note.

The room’s warmth faded.

Sira stopped smiling.

The tale was still about origins.

But something had entered the story.

Something that did not belong.

Lux leaned forward slightly. "There."

His voice was quiet.

Sharp.

"What is that?" Sira asked.

Yue did not answer immediately.

Her face had become serious.

The floating symbols tightened their spiral.

The ancient song continued, but now it carried warning.

Lux’s eyes reflected the shadow in the vision.

And for the first time since the book opened, he stopped looking like a curious child.

He looked like Greed.

Because buried inside a fairytale... he had just smelled a secret.

Lux’s eyes did not leave the shadow.

"That’s her..."

His voice was low.

Sira’s gaze snapped to him.

Yue’s eyes narrowed, but she did not interrupt.

Lux lifted one hand, pointing toward the vision. "The one Kaelmor trapped."

A beat.

"The ancient elf."

Sira frowned. "How do you know?"

Lux did not look at her.

His finger moved, following the edge of the shadow floating above the first elven settlement. The image was unstable, more memory than full illusion, but certain details remained clear. The figure itself was indistinct, wrapped in darkness and long cloak-like shapes, but near its chest, barely visible beneath the shifting gloom, there was a mark.

A sigil.

Faint.

Almost hidden.

Lux’s eyes sharpened. "Look at that sigil."

Sira leaned closer, squinting at the vision.

"What?"

"There."

Lux’s finger stopped.

The image seemed to respond to his attention. Yue’s chant hummed deeper, and the floating symbols tightened around the room. The shadow expanded slightly, the mark glowing dimly.

Sira stared.

Then frowned harder.

"That’s not the king’s sigil. It doesn’t even belong to the demon noble houses."

"I know."

Sira’s brows furrowed.

"It’s ancient, yes, but..." Her eyes moved quickly, analyzing the shape, the structure, the aura weight. Pride might be dramatic, but Pride knew symbols. Pride understood lineage. Pride understood rank like breathing. "Maximum, it carries servant-tier authority."

Lux’s smile did not return. "That’s not the king’s sigil."

Sira turned to him. "Then what?"

Lux’s voice came quiet. "It’s Kaelmor’s family sigil."

The room went still.

Even the melody seemed to pause for half a breath.

Sira blinked.

Yue’s eyes sharpened further.

Lux continued, his mind already moving ahead, dragging puzzle pieces into brutal alignment.

"The same bloodline as the king. Not the royal crest he uses now. Not the throne mark. Older. Bloodline-level. Before the royal house turned itself into the center of Hell’s authority."

Sira slowly looked back at the shadow. "So that means..."

"The one appearing here might be Kaelmor’s father," Lux said. "Or his ancestor. Or someone directly related to his bloodline."

Yue’s voice came soft. "You are certain?"

Lux glanced at her. "Certain enough to be annoyed."

Sira muttered, "That sounded very CFO."
